Christopher Leggat, 44, verbally and violently abused Cara Leggat, 42, between September 2022 and November 2024.
Leggat was the former managing director of Cara's family's company Douglas Laing & Co based in the Glasgow's Hillington.
Leggat made current managing director Cara's life hell as their now 12-year marriage broke down.

He repeatedly slapped his estranged partner and later pushed her into a kitchen cabinet which caused her an injury.
Leggat wished his wife dead notably after he was unhappy about a water bottle he received as a birthday present.
He also attempted to stop Cara from seeing her dad - company chairman Fred Laing and mum Catherine Laing, both 74.
Brave Cara finally reported matters to the police having initially been scared that a conviction would affect Leggat's job prospects.
Unemployed Leggat was found guilty in June of engaging in a course of behaviour which was abusive to his partner or ex-partner.
Sheriff Allan McKay told him at today's sentencing: "On some level these are an incredibly sad set of circumstances.
"This offer of a community payback order is a direct alternative to custody.
"If you breach it and don't see it through, you will find yourself going to prison."
A four-month non-harassment order was also granted prohibiting Leggat's contact with Cara.
The Glasgow Sheriff Court trial heard that Leggat and Cara were married in 2013 and worked together at the firm.
Cara stated to the court that between September and November 2022 was "the worst time of my life" and took a panic attack.
She recalled that in October 2022 she had made a re-heated sausage casserole dinner for the pair.
Leggat told her to serve a "better looking meal" which he said was suitable for a child and called her names.
The next incident took place in January 2023 as a result of Leggat's birthday plans.
She said: "He was most aggrieved and disappointed at a lack of effort to mark his birthday in terms of a meal out.
"He also didn't rate his presents which included a sports water bottle that I bought him."
The water bottle - said to have been made famous on TikTok - was deemed "childish and ridiculous" by Leggat.
Leggat then told Cara: "I hope you die in your sleep."
The witness added that Leggat apologised to her for the remark and claimed it was "a bit of banter."
The pair were given hospitality tickets to Hampden Park in February 2023 for an Old Firm League Cup Final clash.
Cara stated that when they walked home after the match and she was pushed into a bush by Leggat
She said: "I ended up in a bush or my back against a bush as a result of the force as a result of the slap to my face."
When asked how she felt about the incident, Cara replied that it was "upsetting."
Leggat "discouraged" Cara to see her parents which also included a curfew which made her "twitch" when it was close.
Prosecutor Siobhan Currie said in her closing submissions: "Ultimately, there was a pattern of behaviour to isolate her."
Leggat was lastly violent towards her in November 2024 at the family home in the city's Pollokshields.
Leggat slapped her on the forehead and pushed her into a kitchen cabinet which resulted in a thigh injury.
Cara told the court that she called her mother and father after the incident and Fred attended their home.
The court heard that Fred confronted Leggat and "grabbed him by the scruff of the neck."
Fred then got his daughter to contact the police which led to Leggat's arrest later that night.
Miss Currie asked Cara why she did not contact the police on an earlier occasion.
She replied: "I knew he wanted to stay in the Scottish whisky industry.
"From my knowledge he would find it hard to get into the USA and Singapore which are key places in the industry.
"I didn't want the man not to get an international job."
Leggat, now of Bearsden, East Dunbartonshire, told the court in his evidence that he left the company in 2023 with Cara taking over his role.

Duncan McPhie, defending, told the sentencing: "My client admits, accepts and regrets the behaviour.
"He is remorseful and regretful and he is sorry.
"In all the circumstances, he tenders his apologies to the court.
"It is probably too late to apologise to his victim, but he has asked me to apologise the behaviour he was convicted of."

Fire chief Peter Alt yells ‘Shut the f*** up' at distressed girl, 10

A New York Volunteer Fire Company chief has been suspended from his duties after he was caught on video using inappropriate language to a young girl in distress A disgraced fire chief has been suspended after he told a 10-year-old girl to "shut the f*** up" as she is strapped to a stretcher during an emergency call-out. ‌ North Babylon Volunteer Fire Company Chief Peter Alt was caught on video shouting at the upset child in West Babylon, New York on Monday, August 4. In a now viral video, which has been watched more than 4.5million times on TikTok, the girl was visibly upset as she was placed into an ambulance. ‌ "Shut the f*** up! Deal with you every f****** day," Alt is heard shouting at the youngster. The girl, who was strapped to a stretcher, can be heard shouting: 'I don't want to go! I want to go home!" 'Shut your mouth," the fire chief can be heard shouting back. It comes after a schoolboy, 13, has both legs amputated after 'getting cramp' at sports camp. ‌ The incident was captured on video by a concerned neighbour and Alt, a 22-year veteran with North Babylon Volunteer Fire Company, has since been stripped of his duties, the company confirmed in a statement. "We have become aware of an incident which occurred last night, August 4, 2025 between a member of the North Babylon Fire Company and a minor during an aided call wherein the member is alleged to have used inappropriate language toward the minor," North Babylon Volunteer Fire Company said in a statement "The member has been relieved of all of his duties pending a full and thorough investigation whereupon appropriate action will be taken. The fire company is presently reviewing all of its training, policies, and procedures and will determine if further training with respect to responding to emergency calls is required. ‌ 'The fire company does not condone this behaviour and deems it unacceptable.' It's been reported that the family has called first responders for the 10-year-old before, but in the past responders have always been understanding. The girl's mother slammed Alt in an interview with Newsday on Wednesday. ‌ 'He was supposed to protect her and help her, not verbally abuse her,' she said. 'He failed her. At no point should a child or human be spoken to like that ever.' The child's grandmother told NBC New York earlier this week that police were called because the girl became emotionally distressed after her phone was taken away from her. The girl has since secluded herself at home and 'didn't want to go to school", the grandmother said. 'She has anxiety. She will need therapy,' she added. A number of officers from the Suffolk County Police Department were also in attendance during the call-out and afterwards reported the incident to their supervisor, the department said in a statement obtained by Newsday. Town of Babylon officials have since released a statement on Facebook condemning the fire chief's 'appalling' actions. 'The use of demeaning and inappropriate language by a first responder during an aided call is appalling and completely at odds with the standards of dignity, respect, and professionalism our residents deserve,' the statement read. 'We understand that the individual involved has been relieved of duty while a full investigation takes place and we expect a full and transparent review of the incident.' It added: "The Town of Babylon condemns this conduct in the strongest possible terms and stands with the affected family and all residents who rely on our emergency services in their times of need."

Mystery as Irish fashion designer, 33, found dead on yacht in New York

Mystery surrounds the death of a jet-setting Irish woman found unresponsive on a yacht. Martha Nolan-O'Slatarra, 33, fell unconcious on a boat named Ripple, docked at the well-heeled Montauk Yacht Club, Long Island in the early hours of Tuesday morning. A 911 call was placed by her partner after he discovered her unconscious on board. One witness claimed he ran naked screaming 'that's my girlfriend' as he tried to get help from other boaters. Passers-by attempted CPR before emergency responders arrived Martha died at the scene. Police have said an autopsy conducted on the Carlow native's body 'did not show evidence of violence'. A Suffolk County police spokesperson said a preliminary examination of Nolan-O'Slattara's remains was 'inconclusive' and that a cause of death is 'pending further examination.' 'We dreamed big together, laughed harder than anyone else could understand and built so much from nothing,' business partner Dylan Grace said on Instagram. 'I'm truly blessed and grateful to have had you in my life.' Speaking to the New York Post, a member of the Montauk Yacht Club said that Nolan-O'Slatarra was a well-liked member of the upscale community and regulars at the dock. 'She was well known in the community. She was very friendly, always smiling,' the source told the paper. Martha had been living in Manhattan showing off a luxury lifestyle of private jets and helicopters over the city on TikTok. She moved to New York from Ireland at the age of 26, to realise her dreams of becoming a fashion designer. As her career took off, Martha said: ' I always wanted to start my own company and I always wanted to build a brand. I've been saying that since I was 18 or 19. 'Carlow is a small town. I was the small-town girl who needed to get out to achieve her big dreams… I still have all my Carlow friends. They are still my crew.' She founded East x East, a resortwear label known for its coastal elegance and had a successful pop-up in Montauk shortly before her death. Irish police said that the loss of Ms Nolan-O'Slattara was 'an absolutely devastating blow to the family'. 'A young, beautiful, very talented, creative woman. Our thoughts and our prayers are with the family, and I can't comment any further than than that, other than to say it is a devastating loss for the family and for the community in Carlow.' MasterChef alum and popular TikTok influencer Yanin Campos has died following a devastating car accident in Mexico. The 38-year-old, who competed on the hit cooking show in 2018, was driving her SUV in her hometown of Chihuahua on Saturday when she reportedly lost control of the vehicle and slammed into a parked car, according to local outlets. Images circulating online show the wreckage of the crash, with Campos' SUV left mangled from the impact. She was rushed to a nearby hospital but tragically succumbed to her injuries two days later. Her brother, Raúl Campo, confirmed the heartbreaking news in a statement on social media. 'To our family and friends, we inform you and mourn the passing of my sister, Yanin Campos,' he wrote. Although she placed sixth in the 2018 season of MasterChef México, Campos was later invited back to compete on MasterChef: La Revancha in 2019. Authorities say the deadly accident occurred around 6:30 a.m. on Saturday along the Francisco R. Almada highway. Campos was behind the wheel of a black GMC Terrain when she reportedly veered off course and collided with a stationary vehicle. Emergency responders transported her to Hospital del Parque, where she remained in critical condition until she passed away in the ICU on Monday night. Local police have opened an investigation to determine what led to the crash.
