It also clarified that Telangana's Olympic bid falls under the authority of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA).
In a reply to Congress MP Kiran Kumar Reddy, the sports ministry said, "To conduct the Khelo India games, the ministry designates a state as the host. Selection is based on the availability of essential resources, such as sports infrastructure, adequate hotel accommodation, smooth physical connectivity to the venues of different events, and various other technical requirements.
Therefore, it is not possible at this stage to decide whether Telangana will be a host state for the future Khelo India Games.

Regarding Telangana's bid to host the Olympics, the ministry explained that the Olympic games in India are the responsibility of the IOA, and the allocation of hosting rights is made by the International olympic committee (IOC) through a detailed host selection process, which is publicly available.

The IOA has submitted a letter of intent to the IOC, and the bid is currently in the "continuous dialogue" phase with the IOC's future host commission.
The ministry also noted that the Telangana govt has submitted several proposals to improve sports infrastructure under the "creation and upgradation of sports infrastructure" component of the Khelo India scheme. These include the construction of a multipurpose sports complex (stadium), an all-weather swimming pool in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district, and a synthetic 400m, 8-lane athletic track in the same district.
Other proposals include an 8-lane synthetic athletic track with fencing, seating, and washrooms at Palamuru University campus, Mahabubnagar; a multipurpose hall at Satavahana University, Karimnagar.

'Unreasonable': India hits back at Trump tirade on Russian oil

Parl stalled, Rijiju says may press for bills' passage without debate
NEW DELHI: The governmentt would be compelled to press for the passage of bills in "national interest" without discussion if Parliament proceedings are disrupted, parliamentary affairs minister Kiren Rijiju warned on Monday, as the opposition continued its protest over the revision of Bihar's electoral rolls, with Lok Sabha failing to take up two key proposed legislations related to sports. Rajya Sabha was adjourned for the day as a mark of respect following the death of sitting MP and JMM founder Shibu Soren. On Parliament complex, Rijiju told reporters that the opposition had agreed to a two-day discussion over the National Sports Governance Bill, 2025 and National Anti-Doping (Amendment) Bill, 2025. These were important keeping in view India's bid for the 2036 summer Olympic games but opposition members disrupted proceedings, he said. The Govt would be "compelled to press for the passage of the bills from Tuesday in 'national interest' as the proposed legislations are important for governance", the minister said. The two sports-related bills were listed for discussion and passing on Monday. Former great and Olympian Joaquim Carvalho trains young hockey players at Fr. Agnel Multipurpose High School, Verna Panaji: Former Olympians Mervyn Fernandis and Joaquim Carvalho were on hand as Fr. Agnel Multipurpose High School and Agnel Ashram, Verna, ushered in a new beginning through the launch of the hockey training programme as part of the curriculum for students of Class II and Class III. The hockey programme witnessed nearly 90 students from Class II and III listen eagerly to the advice from the former Arjuna Award winners. Fernandis and Carvalho are among the legends of Indian hockey with the former winning gold at the Moscow Olympics and two silver medals at the Asian Games. Carvalho, part of the Indian team at the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles, won silver at the Delhi Asiad and later coached the national team. Fernandis was all praise for the priests at Agnel Ashram for this initiative that is expected to act as a blueprint for grassroots development of hockey, particularly in South Goa.
