OPS condemns centre for withholding Tamil Nadu's Samagra Shiksha funds
In a statement, Panneerselvam said the delay in the release of funds is affecting students from BCs, MBCs, and SC/STs, as well as teachers. The centre should release the funds immediately, he demanded.
'Accepting the conditions for Samagra Shiksha funds is an issue between the central and state governments. But the centre's refusal to release the funds has adversely affected the education of innocent, underprivileged students and the livelihood of teachers. This deserves strong condemnation. Such an action by the centre is against both the Right to Education Act and the principles of federalism,' Panneerselvam said.
Meanwhile, Panneerselvam has convened a meeting of the office-bearers of the AIADMK Cadres Rights Retrieval Committee in Chennai on Wednesday to chalk out the next course of action since he has been ignored by the NDA. Panruti S Ramachandran, advisor to the committee, has almost indicated that Panneerselvam is disillusioned with the NDA.

Promising to bring about a transformative change in agriculture, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has asked the farmers to gear up to adopt latest technologies in farming. Addressing the farmers at the launch of Annadata Sukhibhava-PM KISAN scheme at East Veerayapalem village of Darsi mandal in Prakasam district on Saturday, Mr. Naidu said farmers would get suggestions based on a study on best yield crops, and they must follow the instructions. 'The government has solved many problems of the farmers using new technologies. As there is no market for crops such as tobacco and groundnut, it is planning to encourage aquaculture in the coastal districts, horticulture in the Rayalaseema region, and commercial crops in other areas,' Mr. Naidu said. 'The NDA government is working tirelessly to sustain agriculture and improve the livelihoods of the farmers. I urge the farmers to shift towards natural farming, while reducing the use of fertilizers and pesticides,' he said. Drip irrigation 'Though the previous government has cancelled the subsidy on drip irrigation to the farmers, we have revived it and are giving 100% subsidy for the Scheduled Castes / Scheduled Tribes in Prakasam and Rayalaseema districts, and 70% subsidy in the coastal districts,' he said. 'The previous year, we expanded drip irrigation to 1,17,880 hectares, benefiting more than 1.11 lakh farmers. Andhra Pradesh is No.1 State in the country in drip irrigation,' the Chief Minister said, adding the government was supplying power to aqua farmers at ₹1.50 per unit. 'We have increased the assistance from ₹10,000 to ₹20,000 under the Matsyakarulo Sevalo shecme. We have provided ₹259 crore to 1,29,178 fishermen families. We have provided agricultural implements worth ₹61 crore to 26,000 farmers at 50% subsidy,' he said. The government would be establishing the country's largest Drone City at Orvakal in Kurnool district. 'It is preparing use cases and research is under way. About 875 Kisan Drones will soon be available for cultivation. It has set a target of providing another 1,000 Kisan Drones in this year's budget,' he said. Linking of rivers 'As water is the most important resource for agriculture in rain-dependent areas, the government is planning to connect all rivers. The Polavaram project gives us an opportunity to divert river water to agricultural fields, which otherwise will flow waste into the sea,' Mr. Naidu said, assuring to complete the project by December 2027. 'About eight years ago, I had provided water to the Krishna Delta through the Pattiseema Lift Irrigation scheme. In the future, we will tell farmers in advance which crop to be cultivated based on weather and water availability. The farmers must go for cultivation accordingly,' he said.

46.86 lakh farmers receive financial assistance under Annadata Sukhibhava-PM KISAN in Andhra Pradesh
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday said that ₹3,175 crore was disbursed to 46.86 lakh farmers across the State as part of the first instalment of the Annadata Sukhibhava - Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme. Three instalments Launching the scheme, which was yet another election-eve promise, at East Veerayapalem village of Darsi mandal in Prakasam district, Mr. Naidu said every eligible farmer would get ₹20,000 per annum in three instalments — ₹7,000 in two tranches and ₹6,000. The first tranche was released on Saturday. Out of the ₹7,000, while the Central government would give ₹2,000, the State government's share was ₹5,000. Of the ₹3,175 crore released, the State's share was ₹2,343 crore, while the Centre gave ₹832 crore. Addressing the farmers in an agricultural field at Veerayapalem, the Chief Minister said, 'This is a historic moment. In Darsi constituency alone, 42,870 farmers will be given ₹29.06 crore.' Helpline Mr. Naidu advised the farmers to use the Sukhibhava portal, or call toll-free number '155251' for help in case of any payment issues. Highlighting the various initiatives taken to strengthen agriculture, including implementation of the 'Polam Pilustondi' programme in over 15,232 villages, the Chief Minister said, 'Before elections, I promised to usher in welfare and development in the State. I am working hard to improve the standard of life of the people. We have tied up with Jana Sena Party (JSP) and the BJP for the benefit of the State.' Super Six 'The NDA government is committed to implementing the Super Six schemes despite financial crisis. It has increased pensions [NTR Bharosa] from ₹3,000 to ₹4,000 per month in one go. Today, ₹32,134 crore is being disbursed in a year to 64 lakh social security pension beneficiaries in the State, the highest in the country, which is followed by Telangana, where the figure stands at ₹8,000 crore,' the Chief Minister observed. This apart, the NDA government was giving financial assistance to mothers of every school-going child under Thalliki Vandanam and three LPG cylinders free of cost annually to each household under Deepam-II scheme, he said. 'Stree Shakti' 'The government will roll out 'Stree Shakti' scheme on August 15, under which women across the State will be able to travel in State-run RTC buses free of cost,' Mr. Naidu said, adding that 2.65 lakh women would benefit from it daily. 'For DWCRA women self-help groups, the government is providing schemes such as Lakhpati Didi and drone pilot training,' he said.

Rajnath Singh Dares Rahul Gandhi To 'Detonate' His 'Vote Theft' Atom Bomb Claim
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday slammed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for claiming to have an "atom bomb of evidence of vote theft" against the Election Commission, and dared him to detonate the explosive. Addressing a function organised by a media house in the state capital, Singh also likened the upcoming assembly polls to a crossroad, "with one path (under NDA) leading to further progress and another (under the INDIA bloc) taking Bihar back to its old era of lawlessness and caste strife." "Rahul Gandhi says he is in possession of an atom bomb. If it is so, he should detonate it at once. He should just ensure that he is himself out of harm's way," said the former BJP president, tongue in cheek. Gandhi had on Friday claimed that his party has an "atom bomb" of evidence to prove "vote chori" by the Election Commission for the BJP, remarks that evoked a sharp response from the poll panel. The commission termed Gandhi's remarks as "baseless and wild allegations." Singh also said the nation remembers his past rhetoric. "He had threatened Parliament of an earthquake, but when he spoke, it turned out to be a damp squib." The Union minister said the Election Commission of India is an institution that enjoys a reputation for unquestionable integrity. "It is pulling out all the stops to ensure that the upcoming assembly polls in the state are held in a free and fair manner. It does not behove the Leader of the Opposition to make frivolous statements about a constitutional body," the BJP leader said. He reminded the Congress leader that "his own party has blood on its hands, having tried to murder democracy in 1975 with the imposition of Emergency". The senior BJP leader also showered encomiums on alliance partner Nitish Kumar for helping the state turn the corner during his 20 years' rule in Bihar. "Under the leadership of Nitish Kumar, Bihar is no longer seen as a basket case. Even an internationally reputed magazine like The Economist, which had once condemned the state as the armpit of India, is now taking note of its turnaround," said Singh. He also claimed that the state's progress has received a further boost ever since Prime Minister Narendra Modi came to power 11 years ago, pointing out "the NDA government has extended an assistance of Rs 9 lakh crore to Bihar, so far, in contrast with the previous Congress-led UPA, which gave only two lakh crore in a decade." He added, "Modi has also made it clear that he sees a pivotal role for Bihar, and all eastern states, in making a Viksit Bharat." The BJP leader also recalled the dismal situation that prevailed in the state when "kidnapping for ransom had become a cottage industry and businessmen felt compelled to flee the state." "The state's per capita income, which was 80 per cent of the national average at the time of Independence, had slumped to less than 30 per cent by the time the NDA took over in 200," the Union minister claimed. "The coming elections are crucial. The state finds itself at a crossroads, with one path leading to a golden future and another leading back to the dismal past which it had left behind after much suffering," Singh said. He also spoke at length about the glorious history of Bihar, which is the land where Buddha got enlightened and where Lord Mahavira was born and spent much of his life. "This is also the land which was the ancient seat of power, the Magadh kingdom. It would not be an exaggeration to say that the ancient history of India is much about Bihar," Singh added.
