CNLU prof ranked among world's top 10 legal scholars
He has been ranked 10th globally in the field of law and legal studies.
CNLU registrar S P Singh said Ahmad has also been ranked number one in all of Asia. In recognition of his outstanding academic contributions, he received the prestigious Teacher Excellence Award (Anugerah Guru Cemerlang) in 2024 from His Majesty the King of Brunei.
Ahmad has authored over 300 research articles and more than two dozen books. His work on property law was cited in a 2016 ruling by the Supreme Court of the Australian Capital Territory in Canberra.
On the global policy front, his article "Restrictions on Cryptography in India – A Case Study of Encryption and Privacy" was referenced in a European Commission study titled "New Challenges to Data Protection."
His 2018 article "Bitcoin: Is it Really Legal? An Overview" (published in the Computer and Telecommunications Law Review, Vol. 24, Issue 3, pp. 59-65) was cited by the European Parliament's Special Committee on Financial Crimes, Tax Evasion and Tax Avoidance (TAX3), underscoring his impact in the field of financial regulation and digital currency law.
Ahmad's scholarly work has been cited by academics from some of the world's leading institutions, including the University of Oxford, Yale University, University of Cambridge, Cornell University, SOAS University of London, University of Massachusetts, New York University, and the National University of Singapore. His contributions have also been referenced by universities in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, France, Germany, Sweden, Finland, Turkey, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Malaysia and India, said Singh.

India awards 862,000 tpa green hydrogen capacity; eyes 10% global share by 2030
India awarded 862,000 tonnes per annum of green hydrogen production capacity to 19 companies under the National Green Hydrogen Mission so far, Union Minister of State for Power and New & Renewable Energy Shripad Naik said on Tuesday. Speaking at the FICCI Green Hydrogen Summit 2025 , Naik said that India aims to capture about 10 per cent of global green hydrogen demand, which is projected to exceed 100 million metric tonnes by 2030. 'We want to make India not only a major producer but also a global hub for green hydrogen export,' said Naik, outlining the country's strategy to build export capability. He added the government has also allocated 3,000 MW of electrolyser manufacturing capacity to 15 companies. 'This is a matter of immense pride that we have achieved this key NDC target five years ahead of schedule,' said Naik. India is targeting 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030, which requires annual additions of 50 GW, he added. The minister said renewable energy growth underpins the hydrogen plans. Naik said that as of June 2025, India's cumulative installed renewable energy capacity stood at 237 gigawatts, comprising 119 GW of solar, 52 GW of wind and 49 GW of large hydro. Including 8.78 GW of nuclear, non-fossil fuel sources accounted for more than 50 per cent of installed power generation capacity. 'This achievement of surpassing 50 per cent non-fossil capacity well ahead of schedule provides the base for green hydrogen expansion and strengthens India's global position,' an expert told ETEnergyWorld . Industry leaders welcomed the government's support. Rajat Seksaria, Chair, FICCI Green Hydrogen Committee and CEO at Green Hydrogen & Derivatives, Adani New Industries, cited three key achievements — PLI scheme support, the world's first green ammonia auction creating demand, and policy consistency. Vipul Tuli, Chair of FICCI's Renewable Energy CEOs Committee and Chairman, Sembcorp India, said that green hydrogen has achieved cost parity with blue hydrogen in recent global tenders. 'In one of the global tenders, green hydrogen has actually come out cheaper than blue. Please understand the implications of that — it's a very significant development,' said Tuli. He also stressed on the need for long-term commitments over short-term price gains. The European Union also signalled strong cooperation. Ewa Suwara, Chargé d'affaires of the EU Delegation to India, said both sides agreed to establish a Hydrogen Task Force following the second India-EU Green Hydrogen Forum in Rotterdam in May 2025. 'Both the EU and India are well aware of the potential of green hydrogen in tackling today's and tomorrow's energy dilemmas,' said Suwara. Naik also released the FICCI-EY Green Hydrogen Report, which highlighted demand from refining, steel, aviation and fertiliser industries as critical for building a sustainable market. The report outlined use-cases, procurement models, cost dynamics and steps to stimulate demand. Fifteen states have notified their green hydrogen policies, with others in the process of drafting frameworks. These cover land allocation, water supply, renewable power banking, and hydrogen hub development.

Four held with banned drug injections in joint H-NEW, Chaderghat police operation
The Hyderabad Narcotic Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) and the Chaderghat police arrested four local drug peddlers on Saturday and seized 74 bottles of Mephentermine Sulphate injections, along with four mobile phones, all valued at ₹1.28 lakh. Those arrested were identified as Mohd. Imran Ali alias Kala Imran, 32, a history-sheeter at Chaderghat police station and resident of Old Malakpet, Ranga Shanker Goud, 65, who runs a medical and general store in Barkatpura, Dharamkar Ritesh Kumar, 32, an employee at Apollo Pharmacy, Kachiguda, and his younger brother Dharamkar Mohit Kumar, 31, a finance recovery agent from Kachiguda. An officer from H-NEW said that Imran, who dropped out of college and developed an addiction to Mephentermine Sulphate, sourced the injections from an inter-state peddler in Delhi and sold them at inflated prices in Hyderabad. He also procured supplies locally from Ritesh Kumar and Mohit Kumar, who in turn obtained the drug through Shanker Goud's medical store. Investigators revealed that the accused were selling the injections without prescriptions, exploiting the demand for quick money. 'Imran, a habitual offender, has multiple criminal cases against him in Chaderghat, Sultan Bazar, and Jubilee Hills police stations, and maintains a rowdy sheet,' the officer said. A case has been registered with the Chaderghat police under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Act. The main inter-state supplier is absconding.

Uttarakhand: 3 arrested after allegedly assaulting man for refusing to chant ‘Jai Shri Ram'
Three persons were arrested in Uttarakhand's Pauri Garhwal district for allegedly assaulting a man after he refused to chant 'Jai Shri Ram', The Indian Express reported on Monday. The police filed a first information report on Saturday based on a complaint by Rizwan Ahmad, a resident of Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh. Ahmad said that the incident took place on Friday evening near Dungripanth. In his complaint, Ahmad said that he had gone to a tea shop where three men were under the influence of alcohol. 'One of them, named Mukesh Bhatt, asked me to chant 'Jai Shri Ram',' The Indian Express quoted him as saying in his complaint. When he refused, Ahmad alleged, Bhatt and his two companions abused and assaulted him. 'They caught hold of my beard, pulled it violently, and shouted: 'Cut this man's beard.' They also made a video of this assault,' Ahmad added. 'I was forced to chant 'Bharat Mata ki Jai' and 'Jai Shri Ram'.' A video of the incident has been circulated widely on social media. Ahmad said he managed to escape through the back of the shop. He also alleged that the three men had threatened another resident of Saharanpur the same day, attempting to force him to chant the slogan. Apart from Bhatt, the accused were identified as Naveen Bhandari and Manish Bisht. The FIR was filed under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita pertaining to voluntarily causing hurt, promoting enmity on religious grounds, outraging religious feelings, criminal intimidation and intentional insult to provoke a breach of peace at the Srinagar Police Station in Pauri, The Indian Express reported. An unidentified official also told the newspaper that all three men were arrested for 'assaulting and misbehaving' with Ahmad. They were later produced before a court, the official added.
