Jennifer Lawrence Discusses Post-Partum and How Having Children Is 'Brutal and Incredible'
On Sunday morning, Jennifer Lawrence attended a Cannes press conference for her newest film, Die, My Love, in which she stars across from Robert Pattinson. While discussing the Lynne Ramsay-directed movie, Lawrence shared a bit about her experiences as a new mother and how they informed her performance. The actress has two kids with her husband, Cooke Maroney.
In Die, My Love, Lawrence plays a young mother named Grace who is struggling with mental health issues after welcoming her child. Her struggles become an issue in her marriage to Jackson, played by Pattinson. The couple is completely isolated in their rural home in California, exacerbating their problems.
During the press conference, Lawrence shared she was already five months pregnant with her second child when she was filming the movie.
'I'm not an actor who brings the work home,' she said. 'It's part hormonal imbalance, but she's also having an identity crisis—who am I as a mother, as a wife as a sexual person. She's plagued with this feeling that she's disappearing. The only way for me to dip into some of this visceral emotion.'
She continued, 'Having children changes your whole life—it's brutal and incredible. Not only does it go into every decision of if I'm working, when I'm working and where I'm working. My job has a lot to do with emotion; they've opened up the world to me. It's almost like feeling a blister, so sensitive. They've changed my life for the best and they've changed me creatively. I highly recommend having kids if you want to be an actor.'
Pattinson is also a relatively new dad, welcoming his first child with Suki Waterhouse last year. But, in terms of his role in Die, My Love, he found himself being surprisingly normal while in character.
'I'm attracted to characters who are incredibly abrasive and quite obscure, but Jackson was a normal guy,' he explained. 'When you're dealing with a person going through post-partum or any kind of mental illness, you're trying to deal with her isolation and trying to figure out what your role in the relationship is, and trying to hold on.'
Pattinson added, 'He's not a mental health professional. He's not looking at TikTok reels about parenting. He's hoping the relationship will go back to what it was in its purist form. He's trying to understand why this happened.'

Blake Lively is seeking a protective order against Justin Baldoni's team in response to its alleged "demands" to access Lively and Taylor Swift's private communications. "As reflected in today's filing, their intent to drag Taylor Swift into this was evident as far back as August 2024, when the crisis PR firm led by Melissa Nathan included her in their 'Scenario Planning' document … and flagged the 'TS fanbase' as something to take 'extremely seriously," the statement continued. "The ongoing attempts to once again try and use the world's biggest star as a PR tactic in this matter reflects a public unraveling of epic proportions and serves only to distract from the fact that Justin Baldoni's lawsuits against Ms. Lively, Ryan Reynolds, their publicist and the New York Times have been entirely dismissed." Swift was subpoenaed as a witness in the Lively-Baldoni dispute, but Baldoni's team has withdrawn the request, Fox News Digital confirmed in May. A source with direct knowledge of the case told Fox News Digita at the time, "When information is voluntarily received, there is no need for subpoenas." "The ongoing attempts to once again try and use the world's biggest star as a PR tactic in this matter reflects a public unraveling of epic proportions." Representatives for Lively expressed approval of the reversal at the time, saying they will continue to "stand up for any third party who is unjustly harassed or threatened in the process." "We are pleased that Justin Baldoni and the Wayfarer Parties have withdrawn their harassing subpoenas to Taylor Swift and her law firm," Lively's team said in a statement to Fox News Digital. "We supported the efforts of Taylor's team to quash these inappropriate subpoenas directed to her counsel, and we will continue to stand up for any third party who is unjustly harassed or threatened in the process. "The Baldoni and Wayfarer team have tried to put Taylor Swift, a woman who has been an inspiration for tens of millions across the globe, at the center of this case since day one. "Exploiting Taylor Swift's celebrity was the original plan in Melissa Nathan's scenario planning document, and it continues to this day," the statement added. "Faced with having to justify themselves in federal court, they folded. At some point, they will run out of distractions from the actual claims of sexual harassment and retaliation they are facing." After Swift was subpoenaed May 10, a spokesperson for the pop star denied her involvement in the 2024 film "It Ends With Us" aside from the licensing of her song "My Tears Ricochet," which was featured in the movie's trailer and used in one scene. "Taylor Swift never set foot on the set of this movie. She was not involved in any casting or creative decisions. She did not score the film. She never saw an edit or made any notes on the film. She did not even see 'It Ends With Us' until weeks after its public release and was traveling around the globe during 2023 and 2024 headlining the biggest tour in history," Swift's representative told Fox News Digital at the time. "The connection Taylor had to this film was permitting the use of one song, 'My Tears Ricochet,'" the spokesperson added. "Given that her involvement was licensing a song for the film, which 19 other artists also did, this document subpoena is designed to use Taylor Swift's name to draw public interest by creating tabloid clickbait instead of focusing on the facts of the case." Baldoni and Lively's legal fight is scheduled to go to trial before a New York court in March 2026. On Thursday, Swift was spotted with her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, at the 2025 Stanley Cup Final between the Edmonton Oilers and the Florida Panthers in Sunrise, Florida.

What We Should Learn From The History Of Farm Workers

Once in a long while, though, the repeat performance is so direct and so exact, that we'd have to wonder what our leadership had been doing other than learning the lessons of that history. This is one of those times. On January 28, 1948, a twin-engine propeller DC-3 crashed in Los Gatos Canyon (Fresno County, California), resulting in the deaths of 32 people, four Americans (flight crew and security guards) plus 28 migrant farm workers who were being deported from California back to Mexico. Woody Guthrie, America's greatest native-born songwriter ('This Land Is Your Land') and activist, was deeply upset that radio and newspaper coverage of the crash did not give the victims' names, but instead referred to them merely as "deportees". The result of Guthrie's scorn was what many consider his last great song, the hauntingly beautiful but unmistakenly direct 'Deportee (Plane Wreck at Los Gatos)'. Other that, the only introductory comment I'll make is that this is one of those repeats of history that is so spot on, direct, and unmistakable – from the broad-stroke message to the smallest of details – that no other words could enhance or diminish it, especially in today's climate. Cesar Chavez, later the founder of the United Farm Workers union, learned of the tragic crash while serving in the US Navy, helping convince him that farm workers should be treated "as important human beings and not as agricultural implements". In 1948, Chavz took up the fight. In 1958, Martin Hoffman, a teacher, wrote the final version of the music. In 1967, Woody died. In 1993, Chavez died. On Labor Day, September 2, 2013, a permanent grave marker – the Deportee Memorial Headstone – was unveiled at the site, naming all Mexican laborers by name.

Jennie Garth claims ex-husband Peter Facinelli's dating app age range matched their daughter's
Jennie Garth is bringing up ex-Peter Facinelli's dating past, specifically about his time on the exclusive celebrity dating app, Raya. During a podcast interview, Garth, 53, claimed that the actor's age range was close to their eldest daughter, Luca, who is now 27.
