PATA Gold Award 2025 for Kerala Tourism
With a cross-platform roll-out across social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, X, and LinkedIn, the campaign generated a total reach of 1.2 million and over 89,700 engagements, while also driving user-generated content, influencer collaborations, and viral success through relatable, Kerala-rooted humour. By turning traditional promotion into a two-way conversation, it showcased Kerala's natural beauty and traditions and also set a new benchmark for interactive tourism marketing in the Asia-Pacific region.
The award will be presented on August 27 at the PATA Gold Awards 2025 Gala Dinner on the sidelines of PATA Travel Mart at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre in Bangkok, Thailand.

Better road infra, aggressive marketing crucial for MICE tourism, destination weddings in Kerala, say experts
Even as Kerala has been positioned as a destination for meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) tourism, road and bridge infrastructure linking such locales leaves much to be desired. Since the poor road infra often worsens traffic hold-ups around MICE tourism venues in cities, the government must step up marketing campaigns to promote the segment which is being seen as a high-volume, high-revenue, but low carbon footprint tourism avenue, say stakeholders. Asserting the need to augment road and allied infra to promote tourism, especially MICE events, former Deputy Director of Kerala Tourism Prasanth Vasudev, now a tourism consultant, spoke of how the segment would thrive if a high-power committee with top officials was constituted to augment such infra and to clear bottlenecks. 'It also needs better marketing support from the government and Kerala Tourism. Being a facilitator, Kerala Tourism must ensure that MICE tourism is marketed better at roadshows and in digital campaigns, considering its immense potential to create jobs.' 'Database required' Corporates must especially be wooed so that they select destinations in Kerala for conferences and incentive-based events. In addition, a database must be readied of venues and destinations where MICE events, and destination weddings, which too bring in guests en masse, can be hosted, he added. Tourism entrepreneur and co-founder of CGH Earth Group Jose Dominic cited how Rajasthan, with Udaipur and Jaipur, was a premier destination for Maharaja-sized weddings. 'Kerala's destination weddings should be oriented to smaller, but intimate and intense wedding experiences where the State has the advantage. Smaller destination weddings will suit Kerala's relatively weak infrastructure better since the lower number of attendees will mean that the events are spread out across the State and not confined to cities.' Mr. Dominic added that the 'dry day' on the first of each month would mean that Kerala as a destination had 12 days fewer each year. 'The problem gets accentuated when the first of a month falls in between a three- or four-day destination wedding or MICE event,' Mr. Dominic said. 'Decongesting cities' Responding to the concerns, sources in the tourism sector admitted that there was need to augment infrastructure and to alleviate mobility concerns. 'The government and other stakeholders must adopt sustainable measures to decongest urban areas, failing which cities in Kerala will become chaotic like Bengaluru. However, Kerala has an advantage since it has four airports, while Kochi is among the 15 preferred destinations nationally to host MICE tourism events. Worries about the 'dry day' for liquor can now be overcome if the organisers of MICE and wedding events take liquor licence solely for that day by paying the mandatory fee,' they added.
