The Rs 472-crore bridge, built over Sharavathi backwaters between Ambaragodlu and Kalasavalli in Sagar taluk, is expected to significantly cut travel time for devotees heading to Chowdeshwari temple in Sigandur, besides reconnecting villages cut off since the construction of Linganamakki dam in the 1960s.
Gadkari, in a post on X, said an official invite was sent to the CM on July 11, followed by a letter on July 12, inviting his virtual presence.
The CM acknowledged receiving the invite on July 11 but said "such last-minute communication cannot be considered due consultation".

In a strongly worded letter to PM Narendra Modi, Siddaramaiah criticized the Centre for organizing a programme in Karnataka without consulting the state govt.
He said protocol was violated by printing the name of a former CM before the names of deputy CM, speaker of the Assembly and Chairman of legislative council.
Proceeding with the event despite the state's explicit objection, he said, amounted to sheer arbitrariness and defied the spirit of cooperative federalism.
Hours before the event, Siddaramaiah told reporters in Bengaluru, "As a mark of protest, none of us — PWD minister, district minister, Sagar MLA or I – are attending the inauguration. I had personally called Gadkari and asked him to postpone the programme. He said he would.
But now, bowing to pressure from local BJP members, they went ahead with the event. I had a prescheduled event at Indi (in Vijayapura). It was scheduled a month ago and I'll be there.

Accusing the Centre of "deliberately" trying to create a rift between Centre and state, Siddaramaiah said, "It is they (Centre) who should invite us. Who started the friction? Protocol must be followed. The event is being held in our state, and we are in a federal system."
Attaching the twin letters to his X post, Gadkari said, "The central govt continues to uphold established protocols... committed to cooperative federalism."
About the controversy, deputy CM DK Shivakumar said, "The CM should have been informed well in advance. The state govt should have been taken into confidence. The CM has already said in a letter that his event in Indi taluk is also important. More than Rs 2,000 crore is being provided by the irrigation department."
Asked if the oversight was deliberate, Shivakumar said, "Let's talk politics later."
AICC general secretary in charge of Karnataka and Congress MP, Randeep Singh Surjewala, said "insulting" the people of Karnataka and Kannadigas has become a habit of BJP. "This is not just an insult to the chief minister, but to seven crore people of Karnataka."
Shivamogga MP Raghavendra said he had "respectfully invited the CM" on July 9 and added, "I urge you to immediately retract your statement...
this bridge is the result of six decades of struggle."
Gadkari, cabinet colleague Pralhad Joshi, former chief minister BS Yediyurappa and BY Raghavendra participated in the ceremony.

Union Ministers Hold Strategy Meet Ahead Of Parliament Monsoon Session
New Delhi: Several Union ministers, including Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, J P Nadda and Kiren Rijiju, held a strategy session at the defence minister's residence here on Thursday ahead of Parliament's Monsoon Session beginning from July 21. With the customary all-party meeting being held on Sunday, the Group of Ministers are believed to have strategised over the government's stand over a host of matters amid the opposition raising heat on issues, including the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls in Bihar, the Pahalgam attack and Operation Sindoor. There was no official comment on the agenda of the meeting, but sources said it was related to the session. Besides Defence Minister Singh, Home Minister Shah, Health Minister Nadda and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Rijiju, their ministerial colleagues Piyush Goyal and G Kishan Reddy were among those who were part of the strategy session. The opposition has been pushing for debate in Parliament on issues like SIR and Operation Sindoor. Leading opposition parties such as the Congress, Samajwadi Party and Trinamool Congress have alleged that SIR, which is likely to be rolled out in other states, is aimed at benefiting the BJP. They have also seized on US President Donald Trump's claim of mediating the "ceasefire" between India and Pakistan to attack the Modi government. The government has rejected Trump's claim, but the opposition has been insisting on a debate and has even demanded a special session of Parliament over the issue. The government has termed Operation Sindoor a big success, which inflicted massive damage on terror sites and military facilities in Pakistan. The BJP and its Bihar allies have backed the SIR in the poll-bound state, asserting that it is aimed at ensuring that only eligible people are allowed to vote in the assembly polls. Oulgaret Municipality has bagged the award under the 'Most Promising Clean City of State/UT' category at the Swachh Survekshan 2024-25 awards ceremony held in New Delhi on Thursday, July 17, 2025. The Union Territory earned the honour in the 9th edition of what is possibly the world's biggest urban cleanliness surveys, a press note from the Local Administration department said. President Droupadi Murmu conferred the prestigious Swachh Survekshan 2024-25 Awards at a national ceremony hosted by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) at Vigyan Bhawan in the presence of Union Minister Manohar Lal and Minister of State Tokhan Sahu. A total of 78 awards were presented across four categories – Super Swachh League Cities; Top 3 clean cities in 5 population categories; Special Category: Ganga Towns, Cantonment Boards, SafaiMitra Suraksha, Mahakumbh and State Level Awards – Promising clean city of State/UT. The award for Oulgaret Municipality was received from the Union Minister in the presence of Srinivas Katikithala, MoHUA Secretary and Roopa Mishra, Joint Secretary-cum-Mission Director, Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) by R. Kesavan, Secretary (LA), along with S. Shakthyvel, Director (LA)-cum-Mission Director (SBM) and A. Sureshraj, Commissioner, Oulgaret Municipality. According to the press note, Oulgaret Municipality earned the national recognition for their cleanliness efforts as the Most Promising Clean City of the Union Territory of Puducherry. The 2024-25 awards that spotlighted the theme of 'Reduce, Reuse, Recycle' involved over 3,000 assessors conducting thorough inspections in every ward across the country over a period of 45 days. An estimated 11 lakh households were assessed on urban living standards during the exercise. Under the SBM (U) 2.0, the Union Territory of Puducherry through its Mission Directorate at the Local Administration department (LAD), is implementing six Solid Waste Management projects related to Integrated Solid Waste Processing and Legacy Waste Management in Pondicherry, Oulgaret, Karaikal and Yanam municipalities, Urban Sanitation projects in all five municipalities, including construction of community toilets, public toilets and aspirational toilets, and Used Water Management projects in Mahe and Yanam municipalities, the press note said.
