Halle Bailey 'granted temporary sole custody of son' after DDG abuse allegations

Perth Now15-05-2025
Halle Bailey has reportedly been granted temporary sole physical and legal custody of her son.
The 25-year-old singer and actress - who had also been granted a temporary restraining order against her ex DDG (real name Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr.) - will have their 16-month-old son in her care until a June 4 court hearing after accusing the rapper of domestic abuse.
According to court documents obtained by Page Six, Bailey claimed she filed for sole custody without notifying DDG because she was "afraid that the violence would reoccur" and that "the other party would take the children out of the area".
It comes after the 'Little Mermaid' star was also granted a temporary retraining order.
Under the temps of the protection order, DDG must stay at least 100 yards away from Bailey and their son, which includes her home and vehicle.
The YouTube and Twitch star is also banned from personally contacting her, while he isn't allowed any visitation with Halo until "further order of the court".
Just over six months after they announced their split, PEOPLE learned via legal documents that Bailey has accused him of various kinds of abuse.
In documents obtained by the outlet, she alleged: "I realize that there is no placating Darryl. I cannot allow this abuse any longer.
"Whenever he wishes to cause upset, he starts badmouthing me to his several millions of fans.
"He claims I am withholding our son and that I am with other men. As a result, I then receive threats and hate on social media. He seems to try to set up drama for his fans.
"He goes 'live' ranting about me and alleges that I am keeping Halo from him. This is false. I have requested a set schedule, which he refuses."
The 'Color Purple' star included photographic evidence with her request, which included pictures of her bearing a chipped front tooth and a large bruise on her bicep.

Bizarre new words added to Cambridge Dictionary

The Cambridge Dictionary may have people wondering if the English language has lost the plot, after it added words that sound like they are straight from TikTok. In its most recent update, Cambridge has added a whopping 6000 new words to the official English lexicon, including a wave of new slang inspired by social media. In what may cause English teachers everywhere to reach for a red pen, words like delulu, tradwife, lewk, and skibidi are no longer just bouncing around social media and in conversations youth — they are dictionary official. Popularised by Gen Z and Gen Alpha, these additions reflect a shift in how digital culture continues to shape mainstream vocabulary. 'Tradwife', short for 'traditional wife,' is used to describe a social media trend where some women embrace conventional domestic roles, sparking ongoing debate over gender norms. 'Skibidi', a word made viral by the YouTube series Skibidi Toilet, has also been added. The term is described as having multiple meanings, ranging from 'cool' to 'bad,' or, in many cases, no meaning at all. 'Skibidi Toilet'. Credit: YouTube Kim Kardashian helped popularise the term after her 12-year-old daughter, North West, gifted her a necklace with the phrase featured on it. The dictionary defines 'delulu', short for delusional, as 'believing things that are not real or true, usually because you choose to.' It cites a 2025 speech in which Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese used the phrase 'delulu with no solulu' during a parliamentary debate. 'Internet culture is changing the English language and the effect is fascinating to observe and capture in the dictionary,' said Cambridge Dictionary's Lexical Programme Manager Colin McIntosh. 'It's not every day you get to see words like 'skibidi' and 'delulu' make their way into the Cambridge Dictionary. We only add words where we think they'll have staying power.' Other new entries include 'lewk', a stylised spelling of 'look' used to describe an unusual or impressive outfit, popularised by RuPaul's Drag Race. 'Broligarchy', another blended term, has also been added. Merging 'bro' and 'oligarchy', it means a 'small group of men, especially men owning or involved in a technology business, who are extremely rich and powerful, and who have or want political influence.' More practical additions reflect changes in daily life and work culture. 'Mouse jiggler', for example, refers to a device or software that simulates computer activity to prevent screens from going idle, particularly useful for remote workers hoping to appear online. The dictionary also added 'inspo', short for 'inspiration,' and 'forever chemical', a term for long-lasting man-made substances that remain in the environment and have been linked to health and environmental risks.

Gal Gadot reveals controversial reason why Disney's ‘Snow White' flopped at box office

Gal Gadot revealed she believes the 'pressure' placed on celebrities to speak against Israel played a role in her Disney film, Snow White, tanking at the box office. The live action remake, which cost up to $US270 million to produce, hit cinemas in March, and managed to slowly gross just $US205.7 million over its run. 'I was sure this movie was going to be a huge hit. And then it happened,' she said, referencing the October 7 attacks, in a clip from her interview on Israeli TV program, The A Talks. The video, which you can watch in the player above, showed Gadot speaking to a room of young people where she explained her stance on the controversial film. 'And what followed, as you know what happened a lot in various industries including Hollywood, there's pressure on celebrities to speak against Israel,' she continued. 'I can always explain and try to give context about what's happening here and I always do that. But, in the end, people make their own decisions. 'I was disappointed the movie was so affected and it didn't succeed at the box office,' she closed, shrugging it off as she added, 'That's how it goes. You win some, you lose some.' A rep for Gadot did not immediately respond to Page Six's request for further comment. As many may recall, the film's two main stars were also embroiled in a big controversy around the time of the Disney movie's release. Insiders noted that Gadot, 40, and Rachel Zegler clashed while making the movie due to them having 'nothing in common.' A source also told People that their 'huge age gap' and 'very different political views' only added to the tension on set. Zegler, 24, has been an outspoken supporter of Palestine throughout the Israel-Hamas war. Meanwhile, Gadot, who was born in Israel and served in the Israeli army, has been a proud supporter of her home country amid its ongoing war. The children's film experienced a sleepy opening weekend in March as it failed to clear its goal of $US100 million at the box office. The slow tanking then pushed execs at Disney to hit pause on its live-action remake of Tangled.

Sam Asghari scathingly brands Kevin Federline a ‘professional father‘

Sam Asghari has scathingly branded Kevin Federline a 'professional father'. The model, 31, made the biting remark about his former wife Britney Spears' ex, who has two children with the pop star, when asked for his thoughts on the release of DJ Kevin's forthcoming memoir, You Thought You Knew. In a video shared by TMZ, Sam says when asked about the autobiography, which promises to delve into Federline's marriage to Britney and his experiences as a dad: 'Well, he was a professional father.' Sam added: 'It would be the first book that'll tell you how to be a professional father.' The remark was made while Asghari was leaving The Abbey, a popular venue in West Hollywood. Kevin, 47, who was married to Britney, 43, from 2004 to 2007, announced earlier this month his memoir was on its way. He describes the book as 'extremely intimate and transparent,' aiming to provide insight into his rise to fame, the challenges of fatherhood and the emotional toll of public life. In a press release, Kevin stated: 'I achieved my biggest dreams, dealt with crushing heartbreak, and endured constant ridicule, all while becoming the father my children needed as they experienced nonstop emotional turbulence.' The memoir is set for release on October 21, 2025. Kevin has two sons with Spears: Sean Preston, 19, and Jayden James, 18. Following his divorce from Britney, the former back-up dancer gained custody of the children and received $20,000 per month in child support until they turned 18. He later remarried, to Victoria Prince, with whom he has two daughters, Jordan Kay, 12, and Peyton Marie, nine. Kevin also has two older children, Kori Madison, 21, and Kaleb Michael Jackson, 19, from his previous relationship with actress Shar Jackson. Sam and Britney met while filming the music video for her 2016 hit Slumber Party, and began dating shortly after. They got engaged in 2021 and married in June 2022. But their marriage ended in divorce in 2024 following a miscarriage in 2022. Sam is currently in a relationship with realtor Brooke Irvine. Despite their separation, Asghari has expressed support for Spears. In January, he told Page Six: 'I think that the number one factor of a partner is to be there for one another, no matter what.'
