Karan Johar Asks Fans To 'Move On' From Ibrahim-Khushi Kapoor Bashing For Nadaaniyan: 'Leave Us Alone'
After months of memes and harsh reviews for Nadaaniyan, Karan Johar admits the project didn't get the love they hoped for – and wants everyone to move on.
Nadaaniyan dropped on OTT with a promising young cast but quickly became the internet's latest punchline. From brutal reviews to meme overload, the Ibrahim Ali Khan–Khushi Kapoor starrer found itself at the centre of online trolling.
Speaking on a podcast with Suchin Mehrotra, Karan admitted that the response stung – but urged audiences to stop dragging it. 'As a creative artist, as a collaborator, no film that receives criticism ever makes me happy. How can it? Even if a gazillion people watched it and it wasn't liked, it was watched for the wrong reasons," he said.
The filmmaker made it clear he wasn't in denial about the show's reception. 'You cannot! I am sorry, I will be very stupid to be deluded about the fact that it didn't get the love, did not get liked, it was dissed, it was b**ched, and maybe a bit more than it should have. I am like, 'Yaar, let it go' after a point. It's a film you didn't like, move on, can you?"
'Bashing Nadaaniyan Became A Trend'
Karan recalled how content creators turned the backlash into a trend that kept the conversation going for weeks. 'There were YouTube creators and content creators who were making four videos on it, you made one, right? You know you're getting the hits again and again, because bashing Nadaaniyan was like the fashion of that moment. It was really making people kind of go and watch your YouTube video and they were enjoying it. It was celebrated negatively and that does happen sometimes."
'We've Accepted It, Now You Move On': Karan Johar
While Karan said that the project didn't receive the love they hoped for, he also said the team had learnt from it. 'That put aside, I have no way to tell you that it got massive numbers so I am happy about it. No, I can't be happy about it. It didn't get the love. We have to accept it, acknowledge it, move on from it, and do better next time."
The producer revealed that discussions had taken place internally and hinted there'd be no public apology. 'All of us are very self-aware, it's a part of my personality type. Will I go and apologise for it? No, I will probably speak with the team, take stock of it, and do that. We have dealt with it internally and that's all we really want to speak about it. But now, can you move on to the next bad show or film? Leave us alone. We have moved on and so should you."
Produced by Karan Johar's Dharmatic Entertainment and directed by Shauna Gautam, the project also featured Suniel Shetty, Mahima Chaudhary, Jugal Hansraj, Dia Mirza and Archana Puran Singh.

Taylor Swift's New Song Sparks Rumours Of Rift With Blake Lively Amid Legal Drama
Last Updated: Taylor Swift's track Ruin the Friendship fuels speculation it's about her fallout with Blake Lively during the actress' legal battle with Justin Baldoni. Taylor Swift's lyrics are once again sparking debate, but this time the chatter isn't about an ex. Instead, fans are convinced that her new song Ruin the Friendship, featured on her upcoming album Life of a Showgirl, points to the end of her once-close bond with actress Blake Lively. The two Hollywood powerhouses had been inseparable since 2014, with Swift even naming Lively and Ryan Reynolds' children in her music. Lively had also publicly declared Swift the godmother to her daughters. But recent reports suggest that their friendship has cooled dramatically after Swift became entangled in legal proceedings connected to Lively's It Ends With Us co-star, Justin Baldoni. A Rift Sparked By Legal Troubles According to multiple reports, the fallout began when Swift was subpoenaed by Baldoni's legal team during his dispute with Lively. Sources say the singer never wanted to be involved, but the subpoena forced her into the legal spotlight. For Swift, being unwillingly dragged into the conflict was a breaking point. Insiders close to the Bad Karma singer revealed she was 'deeply hurt" by the situation, and although Lively allegedly tried to shield her from the legal drama, their friendship suffered. Media outlets now claim the pair have either 'halted" their friendship entirely or are 'taking some space" from each other. Despite rumours of a permanent split, some reports hint that Swift and Lively are working to repair their relationship, though it may never return to the closeness they once shared. Is Ruin the Friendship Really About Blake Lively? Swifties immediately linked Ruin the Friendship to the Lively fallout, dissecting lyrics for hidden meanings. However, industry sources say the track was actually written months earlier, during the London leg of the Eras Tour — long before Swift was named in Baldoni's lawsuit. That hasn't stopped speculation, with fans interpreting the emotional tone of the song as evidence that Swift is expressing her pain over losing a long-standing bond. What remains clear is that Swift and Lively's friendship, which once looked unshakable, has hit a rough patch. Whether Ruin the Friendship is a subtle nod to that fracture or just a coincidence, fans will have to wait until Life of a Showgirl releases on October 3, 2025 to decide for themselves. Sophie Turner Spills How Famous Actress Dumped Fiancé After She Waved At Him: 'I Had No Idea'
Last Updated: Sophie Turner recalled a Comic-Con party where a famous actress accused her of flirting with her fiancé, leading to a dramatic breakup that night. Sophie Turner has made a surprising revelation about a wild night from her early Game of Thrones days. During her guest appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers on August 14, the 29-year-old actress shared a story that left audiences stunned. According to Sophie, over a decade ago she was attending San Diego Comic-Con with her co-star Maisie Williams when an unexpected moment changed the course of the night. 'That night was actually quite crazy for me, it went really south really quick," Sophie admitted. She explained that she was with her childhood best friend, who spotted an actor she admired. Wanting to help, Sophie simply waved hello to the man — not realising what was about to unfold. Accusation From a Famous Actress Later that evening, Sophie recalled being confronted by a well-known actress. 'She's a famous actress, and I was like, 'I have to go and tell her how much she means to me,'" Sophie shared. But instead of a friendly exchange, she was shocked when the woman accused her of stepping out of line. According to Sophie, the actress told her directly: 'Can you stop f—— flirting with my fiancé?" The X-Men star said she was left baffled, responding, 'Who's your fiancé?" The actress then pointed to the man Sophie had casually waved at earlier. 'I have no idea who this man is," Sophie stressed. What's more shocking is that the engaged couple reportedly called off their relationship that very night. 'Turns out, I think they broke their engagement off that night because of my [wave]," Sophie laughed, joking about the unintended fallout. While Sophie may have inadvertently ended someone else's engagement, she also experienced her own whirlwind romance. She began dating singer Joe Jonas in 2016 after connecting on Instagram. The pair got engaged in 2017 and married in two ceremonies in 2019 — a spontaneous Las Vegas wedding followed by a grand celebration in France. They share two daughters, Willa and Delphine. Sadly, their marriage ended in 2023 when Joe Jonas filed for divorce, citing that their relationship was 'irretrievably broken." Despite the split, Sophie and Joe are now on good terms and focused on co-parenting their children. Sophie has since moved on and is currently dating British aristocrat Peregrine Pearson. Even though Sophie's personal life has gone through ups and downs, her candid Comic-Con confession proves she still knows how to deliver a story that gets everyone talking. After Mrunal Thakur, Kareena Kapoor Faces Backlash For 'Mean' Remarks On Hrithik, Salman
Kareena Kapoor faces trolling after old interviews resurface, where she allegedly threw shade at Sridevi, Salman Khan and others. Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor Khan is facing social media backlash after old interviews resurfaced online, portraying her as outspoken and allegedly throwing shade at fellow actors. The controversies follow a similar incident involving actress Mrunal Thakur, whose past comments about Bipasha Basu went viral recently, forcing her to issue an apology. The viral Reddit thread shared snippets of Kareena's past remarks, labeling her as a 'mean girl" and drawing criticism from netizens. In one old interview, Kareena reportedly criticised filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, calling him a 'confused director" with no morals or principles after losing the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Devdas to Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. In other interviews, Kareena questioned the historical box-office success of Sridevi and commented on Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai (2000), Hrithik Roshan's debut film. She claimed that filmmaker Rakesh Roshan prioritised his son over co-star Ameesha Patel, pointing out the latter's skin imperfections. Kareena had originally been considered for the film but eventually walked out. The actress also reportedly called Salman Khan a 'bad actor" and made a controversial remark that 'being fat is not sexy." These statements have resurfaced on social media, drawing a flurry of reactions from netizens. Netizens React With Memes And Trolling Social media users have been quick to troll Kareena Kapoor for her unfiltered remarks. One user called her 'Pooh in real life," while another added, 'Her fans pass her mean behaviour as 'sassy' and call her real-life 'Poo' as if it's an achievement." Others noted that while Kareena's comments were unfiltered and bold, celebrities today are scrutinised much more heavily on social media. Some internet users appreciated the honesty in her interviews, saying she gave magazine readers 'their money's worth," while others criticised her for lacking diplomacy and respect for co-stars. Many comments expressed that her outspoken nature was iconic for its time but questioned the impact of her words on her public image today. Despite the trolling, Kareena Kapoor remains one of Bollywood's most influential and iconic stars, known for her confidence, style, and career spanning over two decades. The resurfacing of these old clips shows the fine line celebrities walk between candid interviews and public perception in the age of social media.
