Netflix fans have just days to binge watch 'steamiest' romance franchise
Netflix viewers have just a few days left to stream a divisive film franchise based on raunchy romance novels.
The streamer is set to remove Fifty Shades of Grey, Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed from its library this Thursday, July 31.
Based on E. L. James's bestselling novels, the erotic drama propelled Jamie Dornan to mainstream fame. It follows a sexual relationship between university graduate Anastasia Steele (played by Dakota Johnson) and young businessman Christian Grey (Dornan).
As their relationship blooms, Christian introduces Anastasia to BDSM sexual practices. Although sex takes centre stage in the trilogy, the story also delves into interesting themes such as working through emotional trauma.
Upon its 2015 debut release, the R-rated franchise received poor reviews. Rotten Tomatoes critics awarded it a sour 25% rating, with audiences rating it a more generous 41% score.
Critics described the first film as a "less than satisfying experience," but that didn't prevent the franchise from expanding.
The following films, Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed, were released in 2017 and 2018 respectively. They were similarly slammed by critics. However, some moviegoers were quick to defend the franchise.
"It's easy, it's fun, it's a little mischievous, it's got a story line... I dunno why people are so harsh," reviewed one IMDb user.
They same fan added: "I watch films to relax and switch off. It left a smile on my face at the end maybe I'm a romantic at heart, who knows. I guess I liked the ultimate love conquers all message."
Another simply penned: "Plain and simple, I loved all of the series.. beyond the pale sensuality with this undertone of wanting to find love.. I loved it."
Meanwhile, book blogger 'Natasha is a Book Junkie' shared a glowing review: "It [Fifty Shades of Grey] pulled off the almost impossible task of faithfully bringing these fictional characters to life and making them even more psychologically layered and three-dimensional than they might have been in the first place, turning my overall viewing experience into an absolute thrill start to finish."

Weapons star Julia Garner's life off-screen including health battle and music star husband
She has starred in some massive releases already this year Weapons is the latest big-screen horror to hit UK cinemas today (August 8), terrifying audiences with the tale of a group of children who vanish at exactly the same time on the same night. The film is written and directed by Zach Cregger who was also the mind behind genre-bending horror Barbarian and 2025 thriller Companion. His latest project has already won rave early reviews from critics. Brave cinema-goers watching Weapons today may wonder where they've seen the film's star, Julia Garner, before. The actress plays devoted teacher Justine Gandy who finds herself in the firing line when her entire class fails to show up for school. What has Julia Garner been in? Before Weapons, Garner already had a glittering CV in the world of film and TV. Her big breakout role was as fierce southerner Ruth Langmore in the long-running Netflix drama Ozark, in which she starred alongside acting heavyweights Jason Bateman and Laura Linney. Her portrayal of Ruth won her three Emmy Awards in 2019, 2020 and 2022 in the Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series category. She was nominated for another Emmy in 2022 in the Lead Actress category for her role as con artist Anna Delvey in Netflix series Inventing Anna, but didn't scoop the win. The 31-year-old star's other acting credits include roles in The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Apartment 7A, Wolf Man and The Perks of Being a Wallflower. Julia Garner's health battle In a 2021 interview with W Magazine, Garner opened up about her struggles with epilepsy as a child, as well as battling with learning difficulties. 'I had really bad reading problems and learning disabilities, and I was also very sick as a child, with epilepsy,' she told the publication. 'I felt like everything that I said was stupid, so I just shut down." However, she discovered that acting helped her come out of her shell and communicate in new ways. She explained: "When I took acting, I discovered that I could use someone else's lines and still express my own feelings. "I loved that, because I felt like I was being heard. And not only that, I felt like I could hear myself for the first time.' Who is Julia Garner's husband? Garner married musician Mark Foster back in December 2019. Her famous spouse is the lead singer of the band Foster the People who had hits with Pumped Up Kicks, Call It What You Want and Don't Stop. The pair had their first meeting at the Sundance Film Festival and they got engaged during a road trip to Yellowstone National Park. Despite plans to wed in 2020, Garner hurried things along and they ended up getting married at Christmas time at New York's City Hall - the same place her own parents had tied the knot.

Netflix users so obsessed with 'raunchy' show they're watching it in one go
A Netflix fan has urged subscribers to check out a new series on the streaming platform - admitting she had to stop herself from watching it all in one go because she doesn't want it to end Netflix subscribers have been binge-watching a new series that's so "raunchy" users can't believe it's available on the steaming platform. Film buff Lexy Puhlick, who is known as on social media, has urged viewers to watch it after admitting to watching five episodes in one sitting. In her TikTok video, she said: "Everyone needs to stop what they're doing and watch the new show on Netflix called The Waterfront. I was able to bed rot all day today and I started the series in the morning and now I'm on episode five. To be honest, I don't want the show to be over. "There's only eight episodes so I'm going to force myself to stop watching it now so I don't sit and binge watch it for the entire day." The series, which is rated 15, follows a "prominent North Carolina fishing family wades into treacherous waters to keep their crumbling business empire afloat." Created by Kevin Williamson, it stars Holt McCallany, Melissa Benoist and Jake Weary - and has a 7 star rating out of 142 reviews on IMDb. She added: "The show is so good - the actors, the actresses, the storyline. Honestly, the love scenes, they're hot. Actually, I'm a little bit shocked that Netflix allowed the type of scenes that they did." Commenting on her post, one user said: "My husband and I just started it! We are addicted too." Another user added: "Agreed! Reminds me of Animal Kingdom and Ozarks." A third user said: "I enjoyed it too! The only thing: I found the acting in the first episodes really bad, especially the son and this wife. But I kept on watching and started to enjoy. Loved the voices of the mom and dad and the soundtrack." One IMDb reviewer said: "A solid series that's both entertaining and full of telenovela drama. "There are a few cheesy main actors and a ridiculous scene every now and then, but a good show nonetheless. That 70's show actor is one of the bad guys, named Grady. "And while he's annoying in everything he does, his character actually fits in this particular show. "Does that make him a good actor all of a sudden? No, it just means his annoying character that he plays in everything he does, just fits this series. "Another main character, Cane, doesn't do too well here even though he's done a better job in other shows, like Animal Kingdom." Another added: "Decent storyline. Some of the dialog is predictable and has me skipping ahead, though. The episode endings have been pretty good transitions between each. "I find a cadence of watching the last part of the episode, then the first part of the next episode, and kind of skipping through the middle. But that's just me. I'm still watching it though - it is enjoyable."

Iconic Netflix actress looks unrecognisable as she shares throwback snap - but can YOU guess who it is?
An iconic Netflix actress was unrecognisable as she shared a very sweet throwback picture. The Hollywood star , 53, sported a dark blonde bob when pictured as a child in her hometown Barranquilla, Colombia. She captioned the post simply: '#tbt Barranquilla.' These days the power player sports luxuriously glossy long brunette curls and is one of the most highly paid stars on TV. Can you guess who it is? That's right, it's Sofia Vergara. The heart-melting picture comes after the Colombian-American siren revealed she had a second operation on her knee which she had worked on for the first time last year. 'It's done! Round 2 ❤️❤️#knee,' wrote the brunette as she was seen in a gown while in a hospital bed with a patch and brace on her leg. In August 2024, the Modern Family star shared a look at the long scar on her knee after undergoing 'major' surgery. She had on a strapless white dress with her knee propped up as she thanked her 'handsome' doctor boyfriend Dr. Justin Saliman for helping her out; they have since split. 'If u ever get a mayor (sic) knee surgery make sure u Get a handsome doctor who will sleep with u that night!!!!' she wrote in an Instagram story with a picture of her boyfriend standing by her bed. It's unclear how the Netflix star hurt her knee. Meanwhile, Sofiaa finalized her divorce from ex-husband Joe Manganiello, 47, earlier this month. Court papers obtained by Page Six, indicate the dissolution of the Vergara-Manganiello marriage was made in accordance with the pre-nuptial agreement the couple made prior to their November 2015 marriage. The documents indicated he received all of his 'earnings and accumulations' from the date of their separation, July 2, 2023 in addition to his clothing, jewelry and 'miscellaneous personal effects.' The pair noted they never had 'any community property' between them. Sofia's settlement was similar, providing her with her own belonging, jewelry and earnings since the separation. The original reason for the divorce was 'irreconcilable differences' but Vergara later revealed in an interview with El País the fracture was over whether or not to have children. 'My marriage broke up because my husband was younger; he wanted to have kids and I didn't want to be an old mom.' She explained to the outlet, 'I feel it's not fair to the baby. I respect whoever does it, but that's not for me anymore. I'm almost in menopause; it's the natural way of things,' she stated. Earlier this month Sofia turned 53. The femme fatale was on vacation at Nammos in Europe with her pals when she celebrated another trip around the sun. She posed in a white bikini as she dug into a colorful cake while surrounded by bouquets of flowers. The post saw the two of them together as he wrote 'happy birthday' over the snapshot. Sofia is single after splitting with Dr Justin Saliman after her Joe Manganiello divorce. Last month Sofia gave an insight into what she's looking for in her next relationship, saying she wants her next boyfriend to be as rich as she is. She admitted that she needs 'fun in [her] life' - but she isn't interested in dating someone who isn't financially independent. Asked what she is looking for in her next relationship, Sofia said on the Today show: 'I want to say the basic stuff, like health and somebody that loves me. And somebody tall, handsome.' 'I want somebody that has as much money as me or more, because if not, it's a nightmare. They end up resenting you.' The Hollywood star - who was married to actor Joe between 2015 and 2024 - shared: 'I've been single now for a year and a half, and I kind of panicked once I got divorced. I was like, "I'm 52, what's gonna happen? Where am I going to find [someone]?"'
