SIBU (June 8): State Education, Innovation and Talent Development Deputy Minister Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee is pushing for Yayasan Sarawak International Secondary School (YSISS) Sibu to commence operation within the next few weeks.
He said once the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) issues the Certificate of Fitness (CoF) and Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) grants the Occupational Permit, students and teachers will be moved to the new location.
'We already have students who are supposedly to be enrolled into YSISS Sibu this January, but the school can only be ready by June or next month. They are now temporarily housed at the second YSISS at Mile 12 Kuching-Serian Road.
'We are waiting for the OP (from SMC) and clearance (CoF) from the Bomba. Once they are ready, we will relocate them to Sibu.
'I hope it will happen in the next couple of weeks. But I am trying very hard so that they can move to Sibu as soon as possible. The only issue now is to get Bomba clearance (and the OP),' he told reporters this after the 'Ibadah Qurban Nangka' at SK Abang Ali here today.

According to him, YSISS Sibu will be the third international school to operate in Sarawak, with two others expected to commence operations soon.
Currently, Yayasan Sarawak's two international schools at Petra Jaya and Mile 12 Kuching-Serian Road are operational, with Sibu next in line.
The Nangka assemblyman emphasised that YSISS would adopt the Cambridge syllabus, with students sitting for the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE).
On the event, Dr Annuar highlighted that the sacrificial meat was given to 116 orphaned students attending schools within the constituency.
'Today's programme is meant for Hari Raya Aidiladha, where we are giving the sacrificial meat to 116 orphaned students who are not staying in the complex (The Juma'ani Tuanku Haji Bujang Welfare Complex).
'As you know, we have orphans residing both within the complex and outside of it. Today ('s event) is dedicated exclusively to those students who are not living there, as well as to the asnaf group in DUN Nangka,' he said.
Dr Annuar revealed that three cows were sacrificed, partially contributed by Nangka Service Centre.
For the record, there are nine primary schools and three secondary schools in Nangka.
Political secretary to Premier, Syed Azmee Wan Junaidi was also in attendance. dr annuar rapaee lead Yayasan Sarawak International Secondary School Sibu

Morning drama in Sarawak town as 55-year-old climbs hotel roof, rescued unharmed

BELAGA, June 2 — A 55-year-old man was successfully rescued from the rooftop of a hotel here on Sunday morning, following a swift and coordinated response by emergency personnel. According to Bintulu Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) zone chief Wan Kamarudin Wan Ahmad, the incident occurred at Hotel Sing Soon Huat along Jalan Pasar.
