CM Stalin hails Uddhav Thackeray's stand on federalism, extends birthday wishes
In a message posted on social media, CM Stalin praised Thackeray for his efforts in defending the federal structure of the country and standing up for the rights of regional languages.
He described Thackeray's advocacy as a source of inspiration for the Marathi people in preserving their language and identity.
"Birthday greetings to ShivSena-UBT President, Thiru. Uddhav Thackeray. Your bold resistance to Hindi imposition and your firm stand to uphold Maharashtra's identity have united the Marathi people in standing up for their language. Wishing you strength as you continue to defend federalism and linguistic dignity," CM Stalin posted on social media platform X , tagging both @ShivSenaUBT_ and @OfficeofUT.
The birthday wish also underlined the broader message of unity among regional parties and leaders who oppose the centralisation of power and the perceived imposition of Hindi over native languages.
Chief Minister Stalin, who has consistently championed the two-language policy in Tamil Nadu, has previously voiced strong opposition to the three-language formula proposed under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which includes the promotion of Hindi in non-Hindi speaking states.
Thackeray, known for his vocal stand on protecting Maharashtra's Marathi identity, has aligned with similar federal voices in Indian politics that push back against what they describe as a homogenisation of linguistic and cultural identities.
The public exchange of support between CM Stalin and Thackeray signals continued cooperation among regional parties committed to federalism, state rights, and linguistic pluralism - issues that are expected to remain politically significant in the run-up to the 2026 state elections and beyond.

SBSP chief explores options for non-BJP front in Bihar polls
Lucknow: BJP ally Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party has again started flexing its political muscles by indicating that it may form a third front with non-BJP parties to contest the Bihar elections. "We are keeping all options open in case our alliance with the BJP in Bihar does not happen," SBSP chief Om Prakash Rajbhar told TOI on Saturday. Rajbhar, a minister in the Yogi cabinet, said his party is in talks with multiple smaller parties, including Prashant Kishore's Jan Suraaj Party and Mukesh Sahni's Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP). Rajbhar said his party plans to contest at least 156 out of 243 assembly seats in Bihar. "It all depends on what and how the situation arises. We want to make our presence felt in Bihar where we have been active for the past many years," he said. Sources said Rajbhar has been bargaining hard with the BJP for a "respectable" number of seats in certain pockets of Siwan, Champaran, Saran, Gopalganj, and Buxar, which have a sizable presence of Rajbhar, Rajvanshi, Rajdhobi, and Bhar communities. The party also aims to consolidate castes like Patwa and Mandal. Extremely Backward Castes (EBCs) form a significant voting bloc in Bihar. According to an estimate, it is over 30% of the total electorate. Sources said Rajbhar has held meetings with the BJP brass, including home minister Amit Shah and BJP national president JP Nadda, in his bid to get some poll space in Bihar. Rajbhar exploring the option of a third front is a significant development. Experts said SBSP's chief action may be seen through the lens of coalition politics, electoral bargaining, and regional caste dynamics. They added that Rajbhar's political influence is rooted in OBC and Dalit mobilisation, primarily in eastern UP. His expansion in Bihar is seen as an attempt to replicate the model across the border. Sources said SBSP aims to consolidate non-dominant OBC groups, especially those feeling underrepresented by bigger players like RJD or JD(U). Rajbhar's plan to explore a new equation had its bit of strategic elements. Jan Suraaj Party offered a platform-driven movement with "clean governance" as its plank. Likewise, Sahni's VIP was another political group eyeing the non-Yadav OBC and Dalit vote bank. Experts said that the third front, if it materialises, might split the floating OBC/Dalit voters. This would not only help the BJP indirectly, but also hurt Lalu Prasad's RJD, which is eyeing a return to power. Name contractors troubling Pune industries, opposition tells CM Fadnavis
1 2 Pune: A day after chief minister Devendra Fadnavis said that "goondaism" and "bullying" by some contractors in the industrial areas of Pune were affecting the growth of the district, the opposition dared him to expose those people and also questioned why govt was not acting against them. "I am happy that the CM has admitted that bullying is happening in the industrial areas. However, he will have to also answer who is responsible for it and, being the CM, what steps he has taken to address the problem," said NCP (SP) working president and Baramati MP Supriya Sule on Saturday. Protesting students caned, claims Kejriwal; police deny
New Delhi: AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday alleged that a group of students and teachers protesting at Jantar Mantar were lathicharged, but Delhi Police denied the accusation. Sharing the video of a news channel on X, the former chief minister alleged the students and teachers were protesting against the staff selection commission when they "faced" the police baton.
