Steve Kerr has still got it.
The lead singer of the iconic '80s new wave sensation Simple Minds, along with original bandmate Charlie Burchill, are celebrating the 40th anniversary of their album Once Upon A Time with a world tour and live album. Videos shared to social media show Kerr has still got the pipes to belt out hits like Don't You (Forget About Me), the infectious theme song to the John Hughes-helmed classic The Breakfast Club.In a recent social media video, Kerr can be seen belting out the famous movie theme song while encouraging the crowd to sing with him. Simple Minds are playing to sold-out shows, a sign the guys are still as popular as they were in 1985 when the song was released.
Fans love being brought back to 'a different place and time,' reliving the 1980s through music that is still as relevant today as it was back then. One wrote, "Wow 1985-2025."
Other fans were wowed by the band's sound, calling them an 'amazing band.'And while many Simple Minds fans are seeing the band in a different light—now as parents instead of teens—some are enjoying the tour with their own teenagers, who likely know Don't You (Forget About Me) from the final scene in the 2012 comedy Pitch Perfect. The song did an accafabulous job of updating the classic.

New Heights confirms Taylor Swift's appearance with hilarious first look
After a day of speculating, it's officially official. Taylor Swift is going to do a podcast. The 14-time Grammy winner will be joining boyfriend Travis Kelce on the NFL star's show, New Heights, alongside Kelce's brother Jason. News broke Monday morning that New Heights was dropping a surprise show on Wednesday evening with a mystery guest, and immediately the Swifties got to finding Easter eggs. There was the glittery orange background on the New Heights post (their usual is a plain yellow), and then there was the post from Taylor Nation (Swift's official social media account) 12 minutes later that featured 12 photos, all with photos featuring orange outfits (the assumed color of Swift's 12th album). Next, there were the key Instagram likes (Swift's best friend and her recording label). The theories around a potential appearance from Swift on the podcast expanded with hypotheses that she'd announce something on Tuesday, August 12 to keep with the theme of 12 for her next album. Her official website posting a countdown to 12:12 AM ET on the 12th added fuel to that fire. Well, now we have confirmation that the The Tortured Poets Department singer is IN FACT this week's guest on New Heights. The social accounts for the popular podcast dropped a teaser clip late Monday night that featured Swift sitting alongside Kelce and the two sharing a sweet moment of compliments before she expressed her excitement at being on the pod. "We're about to do a [expletive] podcast," the singer said with a smile and laugh. Wednesday night can't come soon enough. Taylor Swift Enters Her Podcasting Era, With a Hint at TS12
Taylor Swift is back and live from…Travis Kelce's podcast studio in Kansas City? It's true! Revealed tonight on the New Heights Instagram account, Swift will be joining her boyfriend and Chiefs' tight end (and presumably his brother, Jason) for a very special episode. If you're into the Swiftaverse, this may be considered one of the many Easter eggs the singer has been dropping as of late. First came a post by Taylor Nation, the official Instagram of Swift's management team, which shared a 12-image carousel of the singer in orange ensembles to the sound of 2020's 'August.' The caption? 'Thinking about when she said 'See you next era…'' This was 14 hours ago. Next (a mere 13 hours ago!), the New Heights Instagram teased a special episode with a 'VERY' special guest—capitalization directly pulled from the caption and possibly written by Swift's own boyfriend. The comments were filled with fans who recognized the shape of that cutout—certain it was Swift herself. And of course, it was revealed to be the singer just moments ago through a video. One thing we certainly noticed? The orange font overlay—another Easter egg if Swiftie lore is to be believed. The star's also forgone her classic red lip for something much different… would we dare even say, orangey? So are we getting TS12? Just 32 minutes of the two flirting while brother Jason watches on? A special appearance by cats Meredith Grey, Olivia Benson, and Benjamin Button? (PLEASE!) Only time will tell—tune in this Wednesday at 7 p.m.
