Man, 36, dead after crash involving ambulance and car
Emergency services were called to the A98 near Buckie at around 6.50am after a collision involving a blue Renault Megane and an ambulance.
The driver of the car, a 36-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two male paramedics and the male patient from the ambulance were taken to Dr Gray's Hospital and Aberdeen Royal Infirmary Hospital for treatment. None of their injuries are thought to be serious.
The road was closed all day to allow investigations to be carried out and remained closed over night to allow work to be completed by Moray Council.
The road is expected to be opened fully on Tuesday morning.
Sergeant Dave Cooper from the Road Policing Unit, Elgin said: 'Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died and we continue to carry out enquiries to establish the full circumstances of the crash.
'I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the crash or the vehicles prior to the crash and who hasn't already spoken to officers to contact us.
'I would also ask anyone who was in the area and may have dash cam footage which could assist to get in touch.'

Teen terrorised neighbours with racist abuse and threats with machete
A teenager terrorised his neighbours in an 11-month crime spree. The 17-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, terrorised residents of a street in Glasgow's Dalmarnock between November 2023 and October 2024. The teen pleaded guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court to a string of charges including behaving in a threatening or abusive manner and possession of a knife in a public place. The court heard that on Bonfire Night in 2023, the boy confronted a neighbour outside his home while his young daughter was nearby. The man asked the teen if he was speaking to him and he replied aggressively. The boy then removed a machete from a sheath and motioned the blade towards the man. When told that his daughter was with him, the teen replied: 'I don't give a f***.' The man left the scene and the boy shouted: 'Come out, I'm going to do you, you f***ing bam.' The police were contacted and the teenager was traced to his home and arrested. The court also heard of a later incident in which the boy was seen with a machete smashing the car windows of another neighbour. He was heard to shout: 'You will be getting ran out of here.' A 16 and a 17-year-old reported that the teenager followed them then shouted and swore in another incident. He said he was going to slash one of the boy's faces. He then brandished a six-inch knife which caused the pair to run off for safety. The teen later told another man to 'go back to your own country' and used racist language. He was also spotted with a knife that evening which he used to stab the tyres on a bike. The court was told of another incident in which he was seen brandishing a knife at a bus stop in the city's Battlefield. Sentencing was deferred pending background reports until next month by Sheriff Joan Kerr who continued the boy's remand at a children's unit. Online bingo players awarded share of £1.6m winnings after 'glitch'
Online bingo players were incorrectly awarded a share of £1.6m in winnings after a 'technical glitch'. Players reported seeing their accounts debited with money as part of a share of £1.6m during Gala Bingo's Summer Nights Bingo promotion. It is understood that all players received incorrect payouts via consolation prizes due to the error on Monday. Due to the glitch, the prize pot became inflated, with winnings seemingly handed out over the course of two hours. The promotion had a max prize pot of £150, and it was 1p per ticket or bingo card to play. Gala Bingo's terms and conditions state that if an account is credited with winnings due to a 'malfunction', the relevant transaction will be void, and any resulting winnings will be withheld. This applies whether the malfunction was clear to customers and Gala Bingo or not. 'If you have withdrawn any such winnings, you agree that you will pay them back to us as and when we ask you to,' the T&Cs state. Hundreds of affected players have joined groups on social media, with some claiming to have been debited as much as tens of thousands. Users have reported being able to withdraw the winnings into their bank accounts. The incident has been reported to the Gambling Commission, who are investigating the circumstances. A Gala Bingo spokesperson said: 'We apologise to customers for a technical error which occurred during our Summer Nights Bingo promotion for a short period of time, resulting in all players receiving incorrect payouts. 'Our customer terms and conditions clearly state that in the event of a malfunction, winnings can be voided. 'Affected players have been contacted directly with a gesture of goodwill.'
