Abou El-Enein Foundation Continues Efforts in 11th Relief Convoy to Gaza

By Ahmad El-Assasy
In a powerful display of solidarity and humanitarian commitment, the National Alliance for Civil and Development Work launched its 11th relief convoy to Gaza on Saturday, with strong participation from civil society organizations — notably the Abou El-Enein Foundation for Social and Cultural Work.
Hundreds of volunteers from the Foundation took part in preparing the trucks loaded with food, medical, and relief supplies over the past several days. Their efforts form part of a broader national response to the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza, reflecting Egypt's unwavering support for the Palestinian people.
The convoy's departure was attended by Dr. Khaled Abdel Aziz, Chairman of the National Alliance's Board of Trustees, MP Mohamed Abou El-Enein, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives and Chairman of the Abou El-Enein Foundation, and Ambassador Nabila Makram, Head of the Technical Secretariat of the Alliance.
In his remarks, Abou El-Enein said that the Foundation's participation follows direct instructions from Egypt's political leadership and embodies the collective conscience of the Egyptian people. He emphasized that the Foundation had mobilized all logistical and human resources to ensure the success of the mission, with hundreds of volunteers working tirelessly on sorting, packaging, and transportation. He added that coordination efforts were made to ensure the swift and efficient delivery of aid.
Ambassador Nabila Makram expressed pride in the scale of the societal engagement, noting that the convoy represents the true power of Egyptian civil society. 'The National Alliance has become a unifying platform that transforms the emotions of the Egyptian people into real action,' she said, praising the Abou El-Enein Foundation and other partners for their noble commitment and rapid response.
Convoy Contents and Logistics
The convoy included trucks filled with thousands of boxes of dry food, ready meals, hygiene products, blankets, bottled water, and children's supplies — all prepared according to strict quality and packaging standards. Field coordination points were also established between Alliance teams and Rafah Crossing officials to ensure the safe and direct delivery of aid to Gaza residents.
Ongoing Commitment Since October 2023
This convoy is part of a sustained effort by the Abou El-Enein Foundation, which has been actively involved in relief missions since the war on Gaza erupted in October 2023. The initiatives operate under the supervision of the National Alliance and in close coordination with the relevant authorities.
Through its involvement in the 11th relief convoy, the Abou El-Enein Foundation continues to affirm that civil society in Egypt is not merely a charitable actor, but a strategic humanitarian partner capable of responding to crises and reinforcing the state's role on both national and regional levels.

Egypt and Pakistan Move Toward Deeper Defense and Security Partnership

H-Tayea Egypt and Pakistan appear to be paving the way toward a deeper, potentially strategic military alliance, as President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of Pakistan, in Cairo on Wednesday. The high-level meeting focused on expanding military and security cooperation, amid shared interest in regional stability and the fight against extremism. The visit, framed as part of broader efforts to deepen bilateral strategic ties, comes at a time when both countries are exploring new military partnerships and defense industry collaborations. According to a statement from the Egyptian Presidency, General Mirza conveyed greetings from Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, while President Sisi praised the growing momentum in Egypt-Pakistan relations. The leaders reportedly discussed joint defense initiatives, counter-terrorism efforts, and regional cooperation mechanisms. Defense analyst Umair Aslan, speaking to Defense Arabia, highlighted the significant opportunity for Egypt to benefit from Pakistan's growing defense industry. Over the past two decades, Pakistan has emerged as a credible and cost-effective defense supplier, offering viable alternatives to traditional Western sources. According to Aslan, one of the most appealing options for Egypt could be the JF-17 Thunder multirole fighter, co-developed by Pakistan and China. The lightweight, versatile, and affordable aircraft could help modernize Egypt's air fleet without the heavy political strings or financial costs often associated with US or French jets. Despite its lower cost, the JF-17 boasts modern avionics, weapon systems, and air superiority capabilities, making it a practical choice for flexible air defense. In terms of ground forces, Aslan suggested that Pakistan's "Al-Khalid" and "Al-Zarrar" main battle tanks may also be of interest to Egypt. The Al-Khalid, equipped with Chinese and Pakistani technology, offers strong engine performance and advanced targeting systems. Meanwhile, the Zarrar is a low-cost modernization option for older tanks—something Egypt may explore, especially as it aims to enhance local manufacturing capabilities. While Pakistan's ballistic missile systems may not be Egypt's primary focus, anti-ship and conventional surface-to-surface missile systems developed by Pakistan could be valuable additions to Egypt's arsenal, particularly as Cairo looks to build a cost-effective and adaptable defense posture. What makes this evolving relationship noteworthy is that both countries appear willing to move beyond simple arms transactions. According to Aslan, the Sisi-Mirza meeting, along with other recent defense engagements, signals a clear intent to forge a deeper defense partnership that includes industrial collaboration, technical exchange, and joint military training. read more Analysis- Turkey Has 0 Regional Allies... Egypt, Uganda strengthen water cooperation, address Nile governance

Egypt's Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Water Resources met on Tuesday with Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni to discuss bilateral water cooperation, ongoing development projects, and shared concerns over Nile River governance, the Ministry of Water Resources said. The meeting was also attended by Uganda's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Henry Oryem, and Minister of State for Environment, Beatrice Anywar. Water Resources Minister Hani Sewilam praised the historic ties between Egypt and Uganda, emphasising the importance of closer coordination on sustainable water resource management to support both nations' development goals. He reiterated Egypt's stance on the Nile, stressing that all riparian states must respect international law on transboundary watercourses, with cooperation grounded in mutual benefit and legal frameworks as the basis for stability and prosperity. Sewilam acknowledged Uganda's role in the consultative process among countries that have not ratified the Nile Basin Cooperative Framework Agreement (CFA) and highlighted Egypt's $100m financing mechanism for infrastructure and development projects in southern Nile Basin states. Talks reviewed joint initiatives, including the drilling of 75 groundwater wells and rainwater harvesting tanks in Ugandan districts, flood mitigation works in Kasese District completed in 2018, and the 25-year-old aquatic weed control programme in Lakes Victoria, Kyoga, and Albert, which has improved ecosystems and generated biogas from invasive plants. The two sides are preparing to sign a new $6m memorandum of understanding on integrated water resources management under the Egyptian-led Nile Basin Development Initiative.
