IKEA to make offline debut in Delhi with store at Pacific Mall, Tagore Garden
Sharing the exciting news on LinkedIn, Ankit Ghai, IKEA India's Selling Manager, wrote, 'The time has finally come, Dilli meri jaan! Mark your calendars! We're so excited to officially announce the opening of our first IKEA store at Pacific Mall Tagore Garden in saddi dilli on August 13th.'
Ghai, who is also the Chief Business Officer – Home Furnishings retail business at IKEA, said this offline store is a 'first of the many to come very very soon!'
Sharing IKEA's vision, Ghai said that the company had been working hard to 'create a special place where you can explore, dream, and find solutions to make your home your favourite place to be.'
'Whether you're looking to refresh your living room, organise your kitchen, or simply enjoy a delicious meal at our restaurant, we can't wait to welcome you into our home,' he added.
Ghai also shared that the IKEA Delhi store's opening will be a 'day of celebration, inspiration, and affordable Swedish home furnishing solutions.'
'From the iconic BILLY bookcase to the delicious Swedish meatballs and our Iconic hot dog, we've brought everything you love about IKEA right to your city,' he added.
IKEA also shared an 'it's happening' video on Instagram, showcasing some of Delhi's most iconic locations, such as the India Gate and Faqir Chand bookstore.
'Finally,' said excited Delhi-ites who were elated by the announcement.
'Omgggggg.... It's superb.... I was waiting soooooo hardlyyyy.. welcome,' said a social media user.
'I'M COMINGGGG!!!' another added.
A user said, 'OMG super excited for this one.'
Some netizens asked if they could be able to shop in the offline store on August 13 or not.
'Can IKEA family members shop at this store tomorrow or is it a viewing, which wouldnt make sense to drive all the way if no shopping is possible,' a user asked.

Many Reddit users argued that the role seemed to bundle three separate, high-demand jobs into one position. 'Any SaaS company would have three different functions for these roles and hire the right skills for each role,' one commenter noted. Others called it a reflection of an increasingly competitive job market. 'It is normal in the upcoming IT market. It's gonna be worse and more competitive, especially for companies that haven't touched a billion yet,' wrote one user. Some speculated the tone came from frustration with past hires, while others questioned who would even apply to such a job. "Looks like they have had some bad experiences with the candidates before. But who will apply for such job descriptions anyway?" said one of them.

Chinese foreign minister Wang Yi's visit to India, scheduled for next week, is of a piece with the ongoing efforts in Beijing and New Delhi to improve bilateral ties that had gone south after the Galwan clashes in 2020. An early sign of the thaw was the resumption of the Kailash Mansarovar yatra in April. Operation Sindoor forced a pause in the movement. But diplomatic activity suggests that both countries are ready to move ahead, especially with the proposed resumption of flights, facilitation of tourist visas for the Chinese, albeit with stringent conditions, and actions to address trade concerns, including market access. The missing piece in all this was the resumption of border talks at the political level. That is set to change with Wang poised to have discussions with National Security Advisor Ajit Doval under the Mechanism of Special Representatives for the border issue — both had met in Beijing in December. The hectic diplomatic calendar also includes PM Narendra Modi's impending visit to Tianjin, China, for the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit. The New Delhi-Moscow-Beijing triangle is ridden with strategic contradictions, particularly since Russia has become dependent on China and the latter continues to ignore India's concerns vis-à-vis Pakistan's support for terror and now, nuclear brinkmanship. It is tempting to view India's growing ties with Russia and attempts to balance relations with China as a response to the US recalibrating its stance on Pakistan and the growing dissonance in Washington-New Delhi relations. For sure, Trump's obstinacy on tariffs and claims on Operation Sindoor may have provided an impetus, but New Delhi's pivot is also in line with India's stated resolve to maintain strategic autonomy. It must pursue this path, rather than be bullied by any nation to forgo its national interests and sign on to lopsided trade deals. New Delhi's foreign policy choices need not be viewed through binaries but as an expression of enhancing ties and removing irritants based on its national needs and geopolitical priorities.
