James Argent's ex-girlfriend's horrific injuries revealed after attack
Prosecution documents drafted ahead of a trial where the 37-year-old admitted a domestic violence crime claim she suffered several injuries to her neck, arms, hand and leg.The document says it took a week for the bruising and grazing that former Miss Sweden Nicoline Artursson was left with to heal.
And it can today be revealed public prosecutors wanted Argent jailed for nine months for the more serious crime of wounding before he entered plea bargain deal after admitting a crime of 'mistreatment'.
The TV star-turned-singer was told his six-month jail term was being suspended after putting his hands up to his offence which took place outside the home the couple were sharing in La Cala de Mijas near Marbella.
He was warned after the hearing at Fuengirola's Court of Violence Against Women he would be made to do his time behind bars if he breaches a two-year restraining order preventing him from contacting Nicoline, 32, and fails to attend a resocialization course he was ordered to do.A provisional prosecution indictment, drafted before the plea deal, says the attack happened at 12.40am on May 5 during a row with his victim at a beachfront house in popular resort La Cala near to Elliott Wright's restaurant where Argent regularly sings. It adds: 'During the argument, and with the intention of harming her physical integrity, he grabbed hold of her tightly by her arm and pushed her causing her to fall down the stairs.'Offering a detailed description of the injuries Nicoline suffered, a prosecutor said in the written document: 'The injured woman suffered several bruises to her neck, a bruise to her right forearm, several abrasions to her right arm, and abrasions to her right hand and on her right leg.'
Confirming she received medical assistance, the prosecutor said: 'The injuries she suffered healed in seven days on skin and soft tissue.'
The indictment shows public prosecutors were intending to push for a nine-month prison sentence for Argent for a crime of wounding and ask a judge to stop him from contacting his former girlfriend or going within 650 feet of her for three years on conviction, one more than the two-year order included as part of his sentence. He was also facing demands to make Nicoline a three-figure compensation payout.Argent had to admit to a crime of 'mistreatment' as part of the plea bargain agreement his defence lawyer struck with a public prosecutor. He returned to the UK after being convicted and was branded shameless at the weekend after being seen smiling and posing with guests after returning to the stage to sing.
Friends told the Sun he was acting as if nothing had happened when he performed at London's Connaught Rooms last Friday.
He is due to perform at pal Elliott Wright's restaurant Olivia's La Cala on Thursday for the first time since he assaulted Nicoline. His ex has holed up in an apartment where her parents live close to the house where she was assaulted. She was pictured walking her dog with her mum last week but acquaintances say she is still recovering from the shock of the attack by her boyfriend of nine months. One said she looked 'sad' in the aftermath of the assault and didn't take off sunglasses 'she never usually wears in public.'Officials in Spain have not pointed to Argent, who has spoken openly about turning his life round after a harrowing cocaine addiction, being drunk or on drugs when he hit out and he has denied he has relapsed in his only public comments so far since the ugly incident.
Well-placed sources have said the fact he was dealt with by the courts the same day of his arrest suggests he was sober when he lashed out.
Andalucia's High Court of Justice said last Tuesday: 'The matter was resolved in Fuengirola's Court of Violence Against Women.'There was a plea agreement on May 5 and a trial the same day. In trials of this kind it is the prosecutor who suggests a conviction after negotiating with the defence.'It implies that the defendant acknowledges the facts and admits the penalty. The judgment is now final having been accepted.'It consists of a sentence of six months in prison for the commission of a crime of mistreatment in the ambit of gender violence. It also implies a prohibition on approaching and communicating with the victim for a period of two years.'The convicted person will not enter prison as he had no criminal record in Spain.'For this reason, the sentence is suspended but on condition that, over a period of two years he does not approach or communicate with the victim and has to carry out a re-socialization course in the field of gender violence.'The suspension would be revoked if it fails to comply with the measures imposed. The sentence will be sent to a criminal court that will be responsible for its execution and compliance with the measures implicit therein.'
It later emerged Argent would be made to listen to the testimonies of domestic violence survivors as part of his obligatory rehabilitation course.
A judge has yet to finalise the details of his 're-socialization programme' and the possibility he could be made to sign up to one lasting around 10 months has not been ruled out.
But experts say they expect Argent to be obliged to attend ten once-a-week workshops where educators will try to make him see what he did was wrong and help him ensure he doesn't reoffend in the future.
Argent, who last performed at Elliott Wright's Costa restaurant on May 1, confirmed he was dating Nicoline last September. More Trending
The pair told OK! magazine in their first interview together last November they were living together after she moved into his home in Essex and were already looking ahead to starting a family together.
Reliving the moment they met for the first time as James walked to a gig at Olivia's La Cala, he told OK! Magazine: 'All of a sudden I see this woman coming towards me. I was like, 'Wow, she's beautiful.'
Victim Support offers support to survivors of rape and sexual abuse. You can contact them on 0333 300 6389.
'She was just in her gym clothes, wearing no make-up. She'd actually just fed a stray cat. We both smiled and kind of giggled at each other. And Nicoline carried on walking. Then I thought, 'What have I got to lose?' So I turned around and said, 'Hey'.'Someone as beautiful as Nicoline, sometimes these sort of people are used to guys trying to talk to them and they're not interested. But she was so friendly and made me comfortable.'It was reported last week James' close friendship with ex-girlfriend Lydia Bright sparked a row between him and Nicoline hours before his attack.
Nicoline shared a cryptic post on Instagram which was deleted not long after she posted it to her 32,000 followers.
It read: 'Had an interesting conversation with a friend.'Is it OK if your boyfriend or girlfriend is talking and hanging out with their ex and the exes family daily and liking their Instagram posts etc? No kids involved with the ex.
'And then it shows up on your explore page that your partner showed that interest with them but they blame you for seeing it and now the ex is supposedly their 'best friend'.'

Kate Ferdinand on her chaotic and ‘special' life with Rio and their five kids
With five children aged between two and 19, Kate Ferdinand admits family life is 'special and crazy and loving and loud'. The former The Only Way is Essex (TOWIE) cast member, who has two young children with her husband, the former footballer Rio Ferdinand, and is stepmum to his three teenage children, happily agrees family life, and particularly mealtimes, is chaotic – and very special too. 'The chaos!' she says with a laugh. 'There's five kids and it's so loud I can't even tell you, you can't even hear yourself think. There's a lot of over-stimulation. But also, it's so special and crazy and loving and loud and everything that you could wish it to be. 'The bond between the kids is amazing.' Ferdinand married former England and Manchester United captain Rio in 2019, becoming stepmum to his three children Lorenz, now 19, Tate, 17, and Tia, 14, from his first marriage to Rebecca Ellison, who died of breast cancer in 2015 at the age of just 34. Kate also has two children – Cree, aged four, and Shae, two, with Rio, and founded a podcast, Blended, to 'celebrate' blended families. The two eldest boys are both footballers for Brighton & Hove Albion and live away from home, but Ferdinand says they both come home regularly and she tries to make sure the whole family sits down for meals together whenever possible. 'Sitting at the table and having dinner is a massive thing in our house – I feel like it's massive for talking,' she explains. 'It's where everything comes out, where you reconnect after the day, but it doesn't happen every single night, because obviously the big boys don't live at home any more because they play football. 'We're a very sporty household and our kids have a lot of clubs, so it's near impossible to get everyone there every night.' The Ferdinand's aren't alone in finding it tough to all get together for dinner – new research from HelloFresh has found almost one in three (31.8%) of parents questioned say their children's hobbies and club schedules make it difficult to share dinner together midweek, and the the situation gets worse once school term begins again, with 62% of parents saying mealtimes feel 'more squeezed'. But, like Ferdinand, more than half of parents (55%) agree that shared mealtimes are beneficial for children's development and a great chance for the family to reconnect. So Ferdinand has teamed up with HelloFresh to encourage families to set aside at least one night a week to sit down together for a family meal. 'We eat together when we're all at home – we sit at the table, that's part of our family routine,' Ferdinand says. 'Don't get me wrong. The little ones are wanting to run off, but I try and be quite firm with it. They have to ask to leave the table, and they've got to take their plate up. It's quite funny, Shae's only two, and she actually takes her plate up and puts it on the side. 'We all love it because we're all talking at the dinner table – everyone's so busy, but we reconnect. And it's mental, and there's food getting thrown about everywhere, drinks are being spilled. But it's the one time we're all together, normally.' Fortunately, the Ferdinands have an extendable dining table, because as well as the seven family members, she says the boys sometimes bring their girlfriends for dinner, and meals can be for 12-16 people. Kate does the cooking, but she does get help from all the family, including Rio – if she asks for it. 'The kids are great,' she says. 'I have to ask for help, but when I do ask, they help me. We all have our own little jobs – I'll do the cooking, the kids lay the table, they help with the washing up and the tidying up. There's a bit of teamwork, really. 'Rio's very good at seasoning the meat – it's a bit of a collaboration. To be honest, Rio carves for me and then pretends he made the meal. 'But if Rio's home, he'll cook as well. Everyone gets involved.' Even the older boys will lend a hand with cooking, and their proud stepmum says: 'Tate's just turned 17, and he loves cooking. He actually thinks he's better than me. And that's a little debate in our house – I've said cook a few more times for me, and I'll let you know.' She says that while Tate cooks for himself, he's yet to cook a meal for the whole family. 'Everything changes when you're cooking for seven people,' she says. 'When the quantities go up, it becomes a little bit more difficult!' But she hopes he'll give catering for the whole clan a try one day, and says: 'As a parent, you always want to do everything for your kids, and it's only in recent years that I've realised you've really got to let them make mistakes and try stuff themselves and take a step back so they can thrive. 'That's something I used to struggle with, but now I've been doing a bit more of that, and it's paid off so much, because you can just see them thriving in so many aspects of their life.' But with such a busy life as a wife, mum and podcaster, how does Ferdinand herself thrive? Speaking when all the kids are out and the house is peaceful for once, she says: 'Don't get me wrong, it's the summer holidays now, and I'm glad they've gone out so I can make calls for a few hours.' She agrees it's nice to get a bit of peace sometimes, and says: 'Absolutely – I think any parent that doesn't say that might be fibbing.' She occasionally manages to wangle a bit of 'me-time' – although it might take getting up at the crack of dawn to do it. 'It's not a real representation when it's the summer holidays,' she explains. 'But normally when the kids are at school and I'm not working, I'll prioritise doing things like trying to get some me-time – this morning I got up extra-early and took the dog out for a walk at 6.45am just to have a minute. 'Because sometimes I feel like you need to give yourself 10 minutes, even if it's just walking around the block, just to think before the day starts. It's not a half a day in the spa like it was years and years ago, pre-kids, but it's just about finding those moments.' Kate Ferdinand is a Back to School ambassador for the recipe box delivery service HelloFresh and is showing how prioritising just one meal together a week has improved her family's wellbeing.

Hollyoaks star Nikki Sanderson shows off her toned figure in tiny bikinis as she soaks up the sun in Majorca after quitting the Channel 4 soap
Nikki Sanderson showed off her jaw-dropping figure in eye catching bikinis as she posed for sizzling Instagram snaps during a sun-soaked Majorca holiday on Monday. The Hollyoaks star, 41, who left the Channel 4 soap earlier this year, looked sensational in a pink striped two-piece as she soaked up the sun by a swimming pool. Nikki slipped into a triangle orange checked bikini on another day as she worked on her glowing tan. The actress showcased her toned abs as she relaxed on a sun lounger wearing a pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses. Leaving her wet brunette tresses swept out of her face, the soap star beamed for the selfies during the getaway. She wrote: 'Same spot, different bikini'. Nikki revealed in March that she had quit Hollyoaks after starring as Maxine Minniver for 13 years. Before filming her final scenes in April, the actress told The Mirror that the decision to walk away was an 'incredibly difficult' one. She told the publication: 'Deciding to leave was an incredibly difficult decision for me because Maxine is a huge, huge part of my life – and a part of my life that I've loved. 'It's difficult to think, "It's time", and it wasn't an instant or overnight decision, it took me a long time to make it and it was something I genuinely fought with myself about, but I'm lucky that I could talk to people around me and get people's opinions. 'I'm grateful that I've had the stability for so long, now I've just got to embrace the instability of not knowing what's next.' She confirmed that she is not done with the soap world and would jump to Coronation Street, where she previously played Candice Stowe, if given the chance. Nikki joined the cast of Hollyoaks in 2012 and has become a huge fan favourite over the years. Over the years, she has appeared in some hard-hitting storylines, including domestic abuse in her relationship with Patrick Blake, sexual assault after a night out, and her character getting diagnosed with Munchausen's syndrome. A source told The Sun: 'She met with bosses and told them of her plans to leave, she'd just turned 40 and felt the time was right to say goodbye to Maxine. 'She's keen to explore other opportunities and is excited to get back out there. 'Bosses have been plotting Maxine's exit storyline for months and have promised it will be a fitting tribute to the character, and viewers can expect a lot of drama before she goes.' Hollyoaks isn't the only TV show that Nikki has appeared on. Between 1999 and 2005, the star took on the role of Candice Stowe in ITV's Coronation Street. In 2006, she appeared in Holby City as Monica Southworth. Between 2008 and 2009 Nikki played Dawn Bellamy in Heartbeat and In 2012 she also landed the role of Amy Harris in Casualty.
