expanded its desktop portfolio in India on Monday with the launch of four new models ranging from budget-friendly all-in-one PCs to high-end gaming desktops, with prices starting at Rs 49,990 and reaching up to Rs 359,990.
The company introduced two gaming desktops, the premium
ROG G700
and mid-range
TUF Gaming T500
, alongside two all-in-one PCs, the V440VA and V470VA models.

For office and home users, Asus launched two all-in-one models with space-saving designs. The 24-inch V440VA (Rs 49,990) and 27-inch V470VA (Rs 51,990) both feature Intel processors, 16GB DDR5 RAM, and 100% sRGB color coverage displays. Ahmedabad: As monsoon clouds hover just weeks away, a more immediate storm is brewing on the ground. The city's streets, dug up in the name of infrastructure, have become daily minefields for commuters. Open pits, half-cut roads, and scattered earth and debris now define city roads. Peak hour snarls are routine. Pedestrians trip over gaping holes. Cave-ins loom. The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation's (AMC) ambitious Rs 841.45 crore pre-monsoon infrastructure blitz, spanning 36 flood-mitigation projects, is far from complete. As of May 12, official data shows projects worth Rs 644.34 crore marked "Work in Progress". However, a closer look reveals many are barely out of the starting blocks. Several crucial pre-monsoon works show minimal physical progress, ranging from 20% to 30%. In the North West Zone, two stormwater pumping station projects (Bopal lake and Mumatpura Talav in Thaltej ward) are at just 20% progress, even though its deadline is Feb 2026. Forest dept to simplify rules for growing sandalwood trees on pvt lands
Mysuru: With a view to encouraging farmers to grow sandalwood trees, the Karnataka forest department is contemplating simplifying rules to grow them on private lands, said forest minister Eshwar Khandre. Thanking Karnataka Soaps and Detergents Limited (KSDL) for distributing Suraksha kits containing a jacket, bag, and a pair of boots to forest watchers, forest guards, and elephant handlers under its CSR funds at an event at the KSOU auditorium here, the minister said the govt would make a decision in this regard within a week or two. In response to KSDL's request for support in growing more sandalwood trees on forest lands, Khandre replied positively, stating he would discuss it with forest officers and communicate with them. He also suggested approaching the revenue department, noting that there are many abandoned lands that can be utilised for this purpose. Earlier, KSDL chairman Appaji C S Nadagouda, an MLA, proposed to the forest department to have a memorandum of understanding to grow sandalwood trees on forest land, suggesting that they would bear the cost of growing provided they're given the land. The chairman said that more than 90% of their products made of sandalwood are in demand without any marketing. About 82% of sales happen outside Karnataka, he said. KSDL reserved Rs 7 crore under CSR funds, of which Rs 2 crore was utilised to provide Suraksha Kits to nearly 10,000 forest personnel at the grassroots, including about 2,100 in the Mysuru forest division. AAI suspends land acquisition for Surat airport expansion
Surat: The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has asked the Surat collector to put in abeyance the process to acquire 25.33 acres of land to expand the Surat airport. The AAI and Gujarat govt had signed an MoU in Dec 2023, under which AAI proposed to expand the airport precinct and put in place the CAT-1 approach lighting system and an ASR-MSSR radar facility. It is germane that Runway 22 is already displaced by 615m, due to alleged illegal constructions affecting the aircraft funnel path. With no CAT-1 instrument landing system (ILS), safety concerns will persist. A senior Surat airport official, on condition of anonymity, told TOI: "We noticed there are no major diversions due to fog or smoke for which the CAT-1 lighting system would be needed. We do not have much fog like Delhi or Amritsar. We felt spending crores on the system was unnecessary as we don't have major issues. In the last year, only three flights were diverted due to fog. We thus asked the collector to put the land acquisition in abeyance. " Surat collectorate officials confirmed having received the request. "As AAI does not need the land anymore, we will not proceed with the acquisition process," said an official. The acquisition plan was referred to as the Surat Airport Expansion Project by AAI and the Gujarat govt's civil aviation department. A memorandum of understanding (MOU) for it had been signed in Dec 2023, agreeing to acquire land through a special land acquisition officer under the observation of the Surat collector. AAI had asked for 20.33 acres of land for the CAT-1 approach lighting system and five acres for the ASR and MSSR facility. It was proposed that the 25.33 acres of land would be acquired from 20 owners, for which a budget of Rs 215 crore had been approved. With the CAT-1 and advanced radar project put on hold, aviation experts raised concerns about safety issues. An aviation expert said: "The CAT-I lighting system is vital for ensuring safe landings during low visibility conditions, especially in winters and monsoons. Its importance is amplified at Surat airport, where Runway 22 is already displaced by 615 metres due to obstacle limitations — a matter currently under litigation through a public interest litigation (PIL)." He added: "The airport regularly handles diverted flights from Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Vadodara in adverse weather. Additionally, fog in winter and industrial smoke from the Hazira-Sachin belt, along with the heavy monsoon rain, often reduce visibility below safe landing limits. With 24x7 operations and a high volume of landings on Runway 22, which is shortened by 615 metres due to the height obstacle issue, leaving merely 2291 metres, CAT I lighting would provide visual guidance to ensure safe and uninterrupted landings in low visibility. " ASR-MSSR is a modern radar system used at airports and by air traffic control for surveillance and navigation. ASR stands for Airport Surveillance Radar and MSSR stands for Monopulse Secondary Surveillance Radar.
