Rylan Clark reveals what he's looking for in a life partner as he opens up about his 'secret single behaviour' after divorce from ex-husband Dan Neal
has revealed what he's looking for in a life partner as he opened up about his 'secret single behaviour' after his divorce from ex-husband Dan Neal.
The TV presenter, 36, split with Dan in 2021 after six years of marriage when Rylan admitted he cheated on him.
And now in a new episode of his new podcast How to Be in Love, Rylan joined agony aunt and psychotherapist Philippa Perry to talk about love and life.
On what he's looking for in a partner, the star explained: 'I want two things out of someone. One is that you make me laugh and don't make me cry.
'And the other one is when I walk in to the house, or you walk into the house, you ask me or I ask you, 'how was your day?''
Rylan went on to open up about his behaviour when he's single, revealing: 'For the past few years, I have been on my own, in the sense of living on my own, which is something I've never done in my entire life.
'But I have got to the point where I've got my 'SSB', my Secret Single Behaviour, where I might talk to the coffee machine in the morning and go, 'of course you want me to empty the drip trays!'
'You know, it winds me up, but I will say it out loud. Some people might think I'm unwell.
'I'm not, it's my Secret Single Behaviour.'
Since his divorce, Rylan has been open about his dating life, or rather, the lack thereof, and has revealed that he has been on only two dates in the past two years.
As for the reason for that, he said 'there is a bit of an issue' with dating in the digital age.
He explained: 'nowadays it's all digital, and I find myself falling into this trap of talking to people, never meeting them'.
Asked if the perfect person exists, Philippa replied: 'No, they do not exist. What there is, is good raw material'.
Rylan previously revealed his own infidelity during his marriage with Dan caused the downfall of their relationship.
After he revealed that he had been unfaithful, Dan eventually ended the relationship after the heart-wrenching confession.
Following the heartbreak and the deterioration of his marriage, Rylan had suicidal thoughts and his weight dropped to just nine stone.
He opened up about these challenging times in his second autobiography, TEN: The Decade That Changed My Future.
In the book, he penned a candid reflection and said: 'I got in a relationship quite young and just went with it.
'Now I know I'm my own person. I'm not going to settle for something that's not right. In a way it's been a bit of a gift.'
'I'm happy to have sex with someone and that's that, that's not a problem. But do I want more? Of course I want more.
'Am I going to enjoy myself on the way? Abso-f***ing-lutely.'

Kneecap ‘plasters' London with message of support for group member due in court
Rap group kneecap has said it has 'plastered' London with messages of support for one of its members who is due to appear in court accused of a terrorism offence. Liam Og O hAnnaidh, who performs under the stage name Mo Chara, is accused of displaying a flag in support of Hezbollah at a gig in November last year. The 27-year-old is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Wednesday following the alleged incident during a gig at the O2 Forum in Kentish Town, north London. The charge Og O hAnnaidh faces alleges he displayed a flag in a public place, 'in such a way or in such circumstances as to arouse reasonable suspicion that he is a supporter of a proscribed organisation' – namely Hezbollah. Kneecap described the prosecution as a 'witch hunt' in a post on X on Tuesday evening. The post including a short video which appeared to show a billboard that had been displayed in London with the words 'more blacks, more dogs, more Irish, Mo Chara'. The Metropolitan Police said the force had charged O hAnnaidh, who appears on the court list as Liam O' Hanna, after initially being made aware of a video from the gig at the O2 Forum which had been posted online. In a separate event shortly after the terrorism charge, O hAnnaidh could be seen in social media videos entering the stage with tape covering his mouth. The Met previously said the Belfast rap trio were under investigation after clips posted online appeared to show the band calling for the deaths of MPs and shouting 'up Hamas, up Hezbollah'. Kneecap said they have 'never supported' Hamas or Hezbollah, both of which are banned in the UK.

Kim Turnbull: ‘As a woman, people can undermine you a lot'
H ours before I am to interview her about her swimwear campaign for Agent Provocateur, the news breaks that the DJ and model Kim Turnbull has split up with her boyfriend Romeo Beckham, the second son of David and Victoria. Every paper carries the story of the split — referred to as 'fizzled out', in one instance — and I half expect Turnbull to pull out of our interview. But she doesn't — and instead joins the Zoom call bang on the appointed hour. The 25-year-old pops up clad in a hoodie and sweatpants, not at all obviously perturbed by the fact her face, along with wild speculation regarding the demise (sorry, fizzling out) of her relationship, is splashed all over the front pages. Gosh. You're having quite the morning, I say. You OK?
