Indiana Fever fans criticize Caitlin Clark as she plays soccer while sidelined with groin injury

Daily Mail4 days ago
Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark has puzzled her fans with her soccer showing during a charity event in her home state of Iowa this week, where she twisted her hips and swiftly kicked a ball into the goal.
The Caitlin Clark Foundation unveiled a new multi-use court and gave out school supplies at McCombs Middle School in Des Moines on Monday.
Clark had to try out the court her foundation donated, running to a soccer ball and struck it with her right foot with the proper form one would see from Chelsea dynamo Cole Palmer.
Clark has stayed publicly visible despite her groin injury, that has kept her out of Indiana's last four games, and is already ruled out of Wednesday's game against the Phoenix Mercury.
The phenom also sparked confusion on the matter earlier this month when she and fellow WNBA players descended on Indianapolis nightclub, INVY, for the All Star Champagne Launch Party, with her jumping around at the venue.
Now, with a sport she played in high school returning in front of cameras, her WNBA followers are now wondering now injured Clark actually is.

Clark has been out of the Fever lineup for multiple stretches this season with her injuries
'Bruh…this and jumping up and down on the sidelines what are we doing,; one fan said.
'Oh yeah, that groin is looking real sore. Either she's almost back to 100% or there's some real bs goin on,' a second person stated.
'If she can do that hip motion, she needs to be playing basketball,' a third continued.
'Well, she doesn't appear to be experiencing any right groin pain when she does this kick, so that's good,' a fourth concluded.
Clark has missed more than a dozen games this season with her multiple injuries, which began in late May and have continued into July, causing her to miss the All-Star Game, where she was voted a captain in her second professional season.
A collection of social-media messages from Caitlin Clark's fans about her soccer showing
Highlights from her career playing soccer were seemingly first posted to YouTube about ten months ago - showing off her proficiency in the sport while in high school.
Comments at the time reflected some people's wonder at what may have been if Clark decided to stick with the sport.
'Would've loved to see [her] stick with soccer. Bet she'd be playing in Europe right now,' read one comment on a post to Reddit.
'God has their favorites, and clearly I don't number amongst them,' said another Redditor.

Bills coach: WR Khalil Shakir, CB Maxwell Hairston 'week-to-week'

August 3 - Buffalo Bills wide receiver Khalil Shakir and rookie cornerback Maxwell Hairston are considered "week-to-week" as they work their way back from their respective injuries, coach Sean McDermott said Sunday. Shakir is nursing a high-ankle sprain sustained in practice on Friday, while Hairston injured the LCL in his knee last week. Shakir, 25, received a four-year contract extension worth just over $53 million this offseason after recording team-leading totals in catches (76) and receiving yards (821) in 2024. He also had four touchdown receptions. In three playoff games, Shakir added 18 catches for 174 yards. The Bills were eliminated in the AFC Championship Game, losing 32-29 to the Kansas City Chiefs. Hairston, who turns 22 on Wednesday, was selected by the Bills with the 30th overall pick of the 2025 NFL Draft out of Kentucky. He is competing for a significant role in the Buffalo secondary. He was the fastest player at the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine in the 40-yard dash (4.28 seconds). --Field Level Media

Brewers' Jacob Misiorowski lands on IL ahead of Sunday start

August 3 - The Milwaukee Brewers placed All-Star rookie right-hander Jacob Misiorowski on the 15-day injured list with a left tibia contusion prior to his scheduled start against the host Washington Nationals on Sunday. The move is retroactive to Thursday for Misiorowski (4-1, 2.70 ERA), who was hit in the shin by a liner from Seiya Suzuki of the Chicago Cubs during the first inning on Monday. Misiorowski added to his issues by tweaking his knee while attempting to field a dribbler in front of the mound. The end result was a wild toss to first base, which allowed two runners to score. Misiorowski, 23, pitched three more innings before exiting the contest. In a corresponding move, the Brewers recalled right-hander Logan Henderson (3-0, 1.71) from Triple-A Nashville to start Sunday's game versus the Nationals. Henderson, 23, will make his fifth career start and first against Washington. --Field Level Media

Lynx acquire DiJonai Carrington in trade with Wings

August 3 - The Minnesota Lynx acquired guard DiJonai Carrington on Sunday from the Dallas Wings, sending forward Diamond Miller, guard Karlie Samuelson and a 2027 second-round draft pick in exchange. With the move, Carrington goes from the No. 11 team in the league in Dallas (8-21) to a franchise that is running away from the pack in the league standings. The Lynx (24-5) have a six-game lead on the second-place New York Liberty. Dallas acquired the 5-foot-11 Carrington on Feb. 2 from the Connecticut Sun, with whom she played four seasons. The move was part of a massive 10-team trade. In 20 games with the Wings, the 27-year-old averaged 10.4 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.8 assists over 24.9 minutes per game. All are above her career averages of 8.5 points, 3.6 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 20.2 minutes per contest. She has appeared in 151 career games with Dallas and Connecticut. Carrington was named the WNBA's Most Improved Player in 2024 and also was selected to the league's All-Defensive first team. The Lynx selected Miller with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2023 WNBA Draft. She has averages of 7.1 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.4 assists over 16.3 minutes over 78 career games. Samuelson was in her first season with Dallas after being acquired April 14 in a trade with the Washington Mystics. In 16 games this season, she averaged 3.3 points, 1.3 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 16.5 minutes per game. She is a career 39.2 percent shooter from 3-point territory. The Lynx next play on Tuesday against the Storm in Seattle. --Field Level Media
