Coronation Street icon to come back as Rovers Return landlady
It comes after Sally Ann Matthews, who plays recent pub landlady Jenny Connor, confirmed she would be leaving Corrie.
A post shared by Catherine Tyldesley (@auntiecath17)
Eva, who first arrived on the programme in 2011, will be following in the footsteps of former Rovers Return legends Liz McDonald, Bet Lynch and Annie Walker.
A source told The Sun: 'It's one of the biggest jobs in soap, the landlady of the Rovers Return pub.
"Bosses were desperate to get Cath back.
"They came up with the perfect storyline with her being unveiled as the new landlady of the Rovers.'
Corrie fans might remember Eva was last seen leaving the famous street in 2018 for a fresh start in France with her daughter Susie.
This came after the heartbreaking death of her child's father, Aidan Connor (Shayne Ward).
Following rumours of Catherine making her way back to Corrie earlier this year, fans began speculating if she could be the new Rovers Return landlady on Reddit, as the pub was put up for sale by Carla Connor (Alison King).
In a discussion about who could be taking on the job of the adored watering hole, someone said on the r/coronationstreet page: 'I thought Catherine Tyldesley was coming back? If so, I reckon it could be her.'

Another added: 'I think if she did end up being the new owner it would be the first time in years that the Rovers could believably be a profitable business.
'I imagine her and Glenda (Jodie Prenger) would put on so many fun bingo nights and the like. If not I'm sure the punter would come streaming in anyway to look dreamily into Eva's eyes while hearing absolutely nothing of what she's saying.'
This viewer posted: 'I think it's Eva who is going to buy the Rovers....Why else would she be coming back.'

How to apply for Love Island 2026 and what you need to stand a chance of success
The 12th series of Love Island is coming to a dramatic end but for those wanting to get even closer to the action, they are able to apply for future series of the hit ITV2 show Love Island 2025 may be wrapping up this evening as one couple are crowned winners, yet bosses will soon be on the hunt for next year's cast. The finale of the 12th series airs on Monday night and the latest offering has been dubbed TV gold by fans. It has been hailed as 'iconic' with another summer filled with jaw-dropping twists and turns. Stars Toni and Cach, Yasmin and Jamie, Shakira and Harry or Ty and Angel will be taking home the title tonight. However, fans will have to cope with a break from the hit ITV2 show as it won't return until next year. It comes after reports of all the celebrities rumoured to be joining BBC Strictly Come Dancing 2025. For those feeling a little inspired by this year's Islanders and think they have what it takes to head to the iconic villa, dreams can come true as anyone can apply for the show. ITV have a section dedicated to Love Island on its website where hopefuls can submit their application forms. It reads: "ITV2 & ITVX are looking for vibrant singles from across the UK who are looking for love in the sun! "The chosen cast will spend time in a luxury villa, getting to know one another, but to remain in paradise, they must win the hearts of the public and their fellow Islanders, who ultimately decide their fate on Love Island. If you think you've got what it takes, then we want to hear from you!" Those wanting to apply must be aware of the all-important eligibility requirements. All applicants must be at least 18-years-old at the date of applying and they must not be currently employed by ITV, Motion or Cast It Reach. They also must not have a live-in partner or relative who works on Love Island. Applicants need to have or be prepared to get a passport and they must be available to participate in Love Island for a minimum of ten consecutive weeks. Bosses are able to keep the names and contact details for applicants so they can reach out with opportunities for three years or suggest other ITV shows. As well as meeting all the eligibility criteria, those wanting to appear on Love Island will need to complete the application questions "honestly and truthfully". ITV put a call out for applicants in February this year. They will also be on the hunt for former contestants to make an epic return to the villa as Love Island: All Stars makes its comeback. Single Islanders from across the 10 years of the show will return to the famous Villa in South Africa, but this time they'll be in the villa for six weeks instead of five. Speaking on the renewal, Mike Spencer-Hayter, Creative Director at Lifted Entertainment, said: 'Love Island: All Stars has quickly established itself as a stand-alone hit, keeping fans of the show gripped by iconic Islanders from the past 10 years returning for another chance to find love. "We are very excited about series 3 and you can expect the twists and turns to continue in All Stars, after an incredible smash hit summer series.'

New Emmerdale romance revealed months before it will be seen on screen
A brand new Emmerdale romance has been uncovered months before it hits our screens. The ITV soap has teased a major love twist ahead in the Dales as producers line up sparks, secrets and scandal for an unlikely pair. 4 4 Romance is on the cards for Kammy and Belle as the stars confirm their characters will go on quite a "journey" in upcoming scenes. Taking to Emmerdale's official Instagram page, Eden Taylor-Draper, who plays Belle Dingle, revealed: "A romance is on the cards for Kammy and Belle. How do you feel about that Shebz?" Shebz Miah, who plays Kammy Hadiq, said: "It's been amazing, like the scenes that we've had, have been so fun. "It's been a mixed bag because, like, I think for Kammy and Belle, they go on like this journey, and that. "And I think it's just nice to have, like a bit of normality, and that, mixed with a bit of banter. "You get all these different feelings that happen during a scene. "So it's been really enjoyable. I'm not gonna lie. I have really enjoyed it." Eden teased: "Stay tuned." Insiders say their chemistry is set to sizzle, with bosses planning a slow-burn love story that could send shockwaves through the village. It's a fresh start for Belle after a string of heartbreaks – but will things finally go smoothly, or is trouble already brewing? Emmerdale fans distracted by glaring baby bump blunder as actress fails to hide her real-life pregnancy Fans cannot wait to see the new storyline unfold. Taking to Reddit, one fan wrote: "Really happy with this Kammy gives off classic Dingle vibes and will be great to see happiness for Belle." Another added: "I love Kammy, he makes me laugh. I think they would be a fab couple." A third penned: "Oh I think I love this! Belle needs someone fun and a bit carefree. Kammy has an absolute heart of gold and he'll bring some much needed cheer to Belle's life." Soap's most harrowing teen storylines We take a look at other harrowing teen soap storylines from soaps Coronation Street, EastEnders, Emmerdale and Hollyoaks. Belle Dingle's schizophrenia in Emmerdale - Belle's (Eden Taylor-Draper) traumatic journey in Emmerdale took a dark turn when, after accidentally killing her best friend Gemma at just 16, her mental health began to spiral. The storyline, which saw Belle struggling with her grief and guilt, showcased her battle with hearing Gemma's voice inside her head, leading to a dramatic decline in her well-being. Hannah Ashworth's anorexia in Hollyoaks - Viewers were horrified as they watched Hannah (Emma Rigby), a seemingly innocent teen, spiral into dangerous behavior, starving herself in an attempt to achieve what she thought was the ideal body. As Hannah's condition worsened, the storyline became more intense, culminating in her being hospitalised for two months as she fought for her life. Bethany Platt's grooming ordeal in Coronation Street - Vulnerable schoolgirl, played by Lucy Fallon, was at the centre of one of Corrie's darkest storylines to date when she fell under the spell of her older boyfriend and sexual predator. The controversial scenes saw Nathan groom and manipulate the 16-year-old before coercing her into sleeping with his friends, with one of them raping her. Whitney Dean's abuse from Tony in EastEnders - Since the age of 12, she had been in a twisted relationship with her stepmum Bianca's boyfriend, Tony King. The predator had groomed young Whit (Shona McGarty), making her believe she was in love and planning to run away with him. On her 16th birthday, the traumatised teen finally revealed the years of abuse to Bianca. Tony was swiftly sent to prison sentenced for 13 years. Belle's love life has been anything but smooth sailing – from her toxic relationship with killer Lachlan White, to the heartbreak of losing Jermaine and the mental health battle that followed. She later fell for Ellis Chapman and had a rocky romance with Jamie Tate, who left her high and dry before vanishing from the village. More recently, Belle tied the knot with Tom King, but their whirlwind marriage quickly turned dark as his controlling behaviour left fans fearing for her safety. Now, with Kammy on the scene, viewers are hoping Belle finally gets the happy ending she deserves – but in true Emmerdale fashion, it's never that simple. Meanwhile, Kammy burst into the village earlier this year, nicking a quad bike and landing Ross Barton in hot water. Since then, he's been working at the garage, showing off his skills — and a cheeky streak. Now, with romance rumours swirling, Kammy could be sticking around for more than just mischief. Emmerdale airs on ITV1 and ITVX. 4

First look at ITV's The Hack starring David Tennant
The Hack, which also stars Robert Carlyle and Toby Jones, will tell the story of the News International phone hacking scandal. The series was first announced last year, and fans have shared their excitement following the first look, describing the cast as "fantastic". Here is all we know about the series and when it will air on ITV. First look at ITV's The Hack starring David Tennant ITV shared pictures from the show during the first look at the series this morning (August 4). Pictures show David Tennant in his role as Guardian journalist Nick Davies, Robert Carlyle, who will play DCS Dave Cook, and Toby Jones, playing Guardian editor Alan Rusbridger. The cast also includes Steve Pemberton, Eve Myles, Dougray Scott, Lisa McGrillis and Adrian Lester, among others. Fans have been sharing their excitement after the first look was shared. One described the cast as "fantastic", while another said: "David Tennant and Robert Carlyle in the same show, definitely watching this." "The talent in that cast," another said, with a fourth writing: "I can't wait for this." The series will be set between 2002 and 2012, telling two stories. One being the work of investigative journalist Nick Davies, played by David Tennant, who found evidence of journalists at News of the World using phone hacking. The other will detail the investigation into the murder of Daniel Morgan, a private investigator, which was led by Robert Carlyle's character DCS Dave Cook. What was the phone hacking scandal? The News of the World was a weekly tabloid newspaper in the UK that was published every Sunday from 1843 to 2011. Investigations conducted from 2005 to 2007 showed that phone hacking by the now-defunct newspaper was targeted at celebrities, politicians, and even members of the royal family. Toby Jones will play Guardian editor Alan Rusbridger in The Hack (Image: ITV) In 2011, it was also revealed that the phones of murdered schoolgirl Milly Dowler were hacked, as well as relatives of deceased British soldiers and victims of the 7/7 London bombings. It was discovered that journalists would gain unauthorised access to people's voicemails, typically to get information for stories, with The News of the World, and its owner Rupert Murdoch, at the centre of the scandal. The scandal saw Rupert Murdoch's News of the World shut down, with journalist Andy Coulson and former private detective Glenn Mulcaire jailed for it.
