Tshedi Mholo set to light up Roodepoort with one-night-only musical show

TimesLIVE17-05-2025

Audiences are in for a rare and electrifying treat when multi-award-winning singer, songwriter and music icon Tshedi Mholo takes centre stage for a one-night-only performance at the Roodepoort Basement Theatre on Saturday, May 31.
Tshedi is one of the nation's most respected and influential artists, known for her musical excellence and her tireless work in support of social causes.
Celebrated for her powerful vocals and magnetic stage presence, she is best known as the voice of the platinum-selling Afro-pop sensation Malaika. Her journey from church choir singer in Boikhutso to national stardom with Malaika is the stuff of South African music legend. Together with Bongani Nchang and the late Jabulani Ndaba, Tshedi helped shape the sound of a generation, with hits like Destiny and 2 Bob becoming anthems that still resonate deeply with audiences across the continent.
Speaking to TshisaLIVE, Tshedi says her special performance promises to be a journey through her rich discography, revisiting the timeless Malaika classics that defined an era, as well as her more recent solo material.
'My fans can expect a night filled with nostalgia, soulful melodies and the kind of uplifting energy that only I can deliver. With my dynamic band and signature charisma, I will remind audiences why I've remained one of South Africa's most exceptional voices,' she said.

Sizwe Dhlomo says ‘No' to Lasizwe Dambuza's 'Awkward Dates': is he playing hard to get?

Sizwe Dhlomo's polite refusal to appear on Lasizwe Dambuza's YouTube show, 'Awkward Dates', has ignited discussions on social media. Image: File image South African media personality Sizwe Dhlomo has turned down an invitation to appear on Lasizwe Dambuza's popular YouTube show, "Awkward Dates". The request came after a fan expressed excitement about seeing Dhlomo as a guest on this wildly entertaining platform, known for its unfiltered displays of awkwardness and humorous moments. The suggestion gained momentum when the show's creator, Dambuza, seized the opportunity presented by a fan on X. The user, known as @Sereng_K, voiced their enthusiasm for Dhlomo's appearance, prompting Dambuza to extend a personal invitation. 'That would be so cool hey! @SizweDhlomo can I take you out on a date, I promise it won't be awkward?' he wrote, trying to charm a response from the seasoned presenter. However, Dhlomo's reply was both straightforward and polite, as he told Dambuza, 'Nah, I don't do interviews bro. Good show though. If ever I have something to promote one day, I'll hit you up. Keep up the good work.' Video Player is loading. Critics quickly pointed out that the star has recently been featured on interviews for platforms like 'Podcast and Chill' and the 'L-Tido Podcast', leading to contrasting opinions on his decision to remain detached from "Awkward Dates". One user commented, 'But Sizwe, you will just be acting, come on ... you don't have to tell the truth about your life. You keep it at 16% and make everything up there at the date.' Meanwhile, others questioned the fairness of his stance, suggesting that waiting to appear only when promoting something diminishes engagement with fans. 'Is it fair to only want to go when promoting something?' asked another user, while a more understanding fan added, 'I hardly agree with Sizwe but, well handled my brother. You'd be dragged had you said 'No, thank you'. We live on eggshells these days.' Meanwhile, Dambuza has been busy fulfilling his aspirations by inviting an exciting line-up of celebrity guests to his show. Last month, he took to Instagram to share his dream list, which included names like television personality Bonang Matheba, Grammy winner Tyla, and former Miss Universe Zozibini Tunzi. Notably, Tunzi has already accepted the invitation and appeared in a recent episode two weeks back, delighting audiences with their engaging chemistry.

Americans reacts to Eben Etzebeth: 'Don't mess with him!'

An American basketball player has hilariously reacted to scenes of Eben Etzbeth doing what he does best on the pitch – brawling and intimidating his opponents. The highest-capped Springbok is known for being one of the 'scariest' players in the game, thanks to his fierce appearance and attitude. In a viral TikTok video, US basketball player Kolton Kohl reacted to a clip of Eben Etzebeth on the pitch. He said: 'I am looking at him and he is the BrocLesnarer of rugby…Imagine being the ref trying to talk to him!' Comparing Eben to a 'steel pole', he added: 'Don't mess with him!' @rugby_overdose American🇺🇸 reacts to Eben Etzebeth for the first time #rugby #viral #xyzbca #like #follow #bighits #tackle #worldcup #rugbyhits #bestsport #rugbyforlife #rugbyplayer #rugbyleague #rugbylife #schoolboyrugby #rugbyedits #rugbyexercise #rugbyworld #rugbyworldcup #springboks #japan #allblacksrugby #australia #england #ireland #fiji #france #2024 #2025 ♬ original sound – Rugby Overdose It's not the first time Eben Etzebeth has had grown men on the internet quivering at the sight of him. Last year, a UFC commentator labelled Eben a 'monster' after he was spotted with World Champion Dricus du Plessis. 'Who is that guy?' the man asked. Meanwhile, Eben Etzebeth will soon swap his aggressive antics for daddy duty as he prepares to welcome another baby. Last month, the lock and his wife Anlia announced that they were expecting their second child, a baby girl. Anlia – a professional singer -announced in a sweet Instagram post. The couple wed in 2023 and a year later welcomed their first daughter.
