Justin Bieber's Mother's Day post raises eyebrows after he welcomed baby with wife Hailey

News.com.au13-05-2025

Justin Bieber has shared a bizarre outburst on Mother's Day as his wife Hailey celebrated her first since welcoming the couple's child.
The Canadian pop star, 31, and Hailey, 28, became parents last year with the arrival of their son, Jack, in August.
Taking to his Instagram 'notes' section, Justin shared the comment, 'Love u moms but mothers day sucks ass'.
He also shared another message on his Instagram stories, writing, 'Good luck today for anyone navigating Mother's Day.'
The Peaches singer swiftly deleted his note, which appears at the top of a user's inbox and above their profile picture, after bewildered comments began circulating online.
'Justin bieber posting 'mother's day sucks ass' as his wife celebrates her first one is so …. vile to me,' one user wrote on X.
'wtf is wrong with justin bieber???' another shared.
'I'm not surprised he's not taking to the family life like everyone was so excited about when they first shared the news. He's been in dire need of therapy, not a baby,' a third wrote.
'Man is going through something to be externalizing (sic) all of this. Not excusing his behavior (sic) but man the cruelty he is showing his wife is so sad,' a fourth chimed in.
Justin later made up for the comments by sharing a video of his elaborate present for Hailey on the special day.
The pair could be seen sitting on the terrace of their sprawling LA home, enjoying a Mexican feed as Hailey was serenaded by a mariachi band.
He also shared several photos of Hailey over the course of the day, calling her the 'best mommy day girlie.'
The couple married at a courthouse in September 2018, just months after Justin's split from Selena Gomez.
Their second wedding took place in South Carolina a year later.
Many speculated Justin's comments about Mother's Day could have been directed at his own mother, Pattie Mallette.
It's thought the performer has been estranged from Pattie, 50, for several years, after she was ever-present during his rise to fame from 2008.
While he's not gone into details, Justin did divulge to Billboard in 2015 he hadn't spoken to his mother for some time, though added he had nothing but love for her.
'We spent some time not talking, so it takes time to rebuild that trust,' he shared at the time.
'She's living in Hawaii now, so it's hard, but getting better. She's an amazing woman and I love her.'

Ione Skye on surrendering her past and forgiving herself

Gen X It girl, Ione Skye was named for the Scottish island where she was conceived, before her enigmatic folk singer father, Donovan abandoned the family before she was born. A string of stepfathers couldn't remedy her fundamental abandonment and Ione grew up surrounded by creative types who flowed freely through her mother's house in Los Angeles. Following her beloved older brother into the world of acting and modelling, Ione had an early start in Hollywood and it led her to a full, messy life in which she starred alongside the likes of River Phoenix, Keanu Reeves and John Cusack. When she was only a teenager, she began a relationship with Anthony Keidis, the lead singer of The Red Hot Chili Peppers, who was addicted to heroin. This dysfunctional relationship led to Ione's marriage to the first great love of her life, Adam Horovitz of The Beastie Boys, and a period of time she describes as her 90s daydream. This happy period devolved as Ione joyfully and remorsefully explored her bisexuality and the infidelity eventually ended the marriage. Today Ione is happily married to Australian musician, Ben Lee and has two daughters. Further information Say Everything is published by HarperCollins. Hit streaming show's creator announces massive change

WARNING: The Last Of Us spoilers ahead. The creators of the hit series The Last Of Us have confirmed that a huge change is in the works for season three, as the story shifts focus to a character who has had little screen time until now. The post-apocalyptic series, adapted from the hugely popular video game of the same name, debuted in 2023 as a two-hander between stars Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey, playing a surrogate. But – and again, spoiler alert – the second episode of season two offered up a massive shock (at least for viewers not familiar with the game), as Pascal's character Joel met a grisly end on-screen, leaving Ramsey's character Ellie to go it alone. Ellie spent the rest of the season searching for Joel's killer, Abby, played by Kaitlyn Dever. Season two ended on a cliffhanger as Ellie finally found Abby, the screen fading to black during a violent shootout. But then, the very last scene of the season seemed to suggest we won't be seeing much of Ellie in season three, regardless of whether she lives or dies: A flashback to Abby's character, several days earlier, as if to mark that the story will continue next season told through her perspective. At an Emmys-hosted event to mark the end of the show's second season this week, The Last Of Us co-creators Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann opened up about the controversy surrounding Joel's death and hinted at what was still to come in the series. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Druckmann said there had already been several failed attempts to adapt the video game for the screen: 'I think it was good to go on that journey to end up at HBO, end up at a place that leaned into those controversial decisions, I guess,' he said, referring to Pascal's character's brutal on-screen death. 'But the decisions are just what the story required, and even now, it's like I can't believe that they let us structure the series in this way. Meaning like we just ended season two, and season three is going to be starring — spoiler alert — Kaitlyn.' That information appeared to be news to even actress Kaitlyn Dever herself, who was dialled in to the event remotely and reacted with joy and surprise at the news (watch her reaction in the video above). Now we have confirmation that The Last Of Us season three will focus on Abby instead of Ellie, the next big question is when exactly it will air – or rather, how long we have to wait. There was a gap of more than two years between the show's initial, nine-episode season and its even shorter seven-episode second season. GamesRadar+ reports that writing has not yet begun on season three, and fans can expect a similar two-year wait to see more of the show sometime in 2027.

Alex Cooper's family home sells for $1.1 million

Alex Cooper's family home has been sold for $US780,000 ($A1.1 million) just five months after the podcaster surprised her parents with a new house in Los Angeles. During her show, the 'Call Her Daddy' host revealed that she had purchased an L.A. residence for her mum, Laurie, and her dad, Bryan. She insisted to her listeners that she and her husband, producer Matt Kaplan, wanted 'nothing in return' for the gesture, Realtor reports. The media personality did admit that having her parents live so close to her own $US10.7 million ($A16.4 million) Studio City pad would make it easier for her to enlist their babysitting services in the future 'My parents are officially moving to Los Angeles, California, and I bought them a house,' the former Barstool Sports star announced in the episode. 'It makes me emotional thinking about it because when I started 'Call Her Daddy,' I had somewhat of a vision of what I hoped this would turn into.' The property, which boasts four bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms, is where Cooper spent much of her childhood alongside her brother, Grant, and her sister, Kathryn, before she relocated to Boston in order to attend Boston University on a full-ride soccer scholarship. She alleged that Ms Feldman, who has yet to publicly respond to Cooper's claims, began to 'fixate' on her, noting that she found her coach's behaviour 'confusing' at the time. '[It] was all based in her wanting to know who I was dating, her making comments about my body and her always wanting to be alone with me,' Cooper says in the documentary, according to People. 'It was this psychotic game of, 'You want to play? Tell me about your sex life.' I felt so deeply uncomfortable.' Cooper further claimed that she felt unable to speak up about the alleged harassment because she was attending BU on a 'full-tuition scholarship' and believed she would have been 'gone' if she didn't 'follow [Feldman's] rules'. The podcast host said she did tell her parents about Ms Feldman's behaviour, revealing that the family hired a lawyer, who warned them that a potential case could be dragged out for years. Addressing the allegations during a Q&A at the New York City premiere of her documentary, Cooper admitted that she had initially been unsure whether she wanted to open up about that time in her life. The Podcaster recalled the difficult moment when 'Call Her Alex' director, Ry Russo-Young, asked her to return to the soccer field that she trained and played on during college. 'The minute I stepped back on that field, I felt so small,' she shared. 'I just felt like I was 18 years old again, and I was in a situation with someone in a position of power who abused their power, and I felt like I wasn't the 'Call Her Daddy' girl. 'I wasn't someone who had money and influence or whatever. 'I was just another woman who experienced harassment on a level that changed my life forever and took away the thing I loved the most.' After graduating from BU in 2017, Cooper went on to launch 'Call Her Daddy' alongside her then-roommate Sofia Franklyn, before going on to ink a solo deal as the host of the podcast in 2020. In the years since, Cooper has signed two multimillion-dollar deals with different audio streaming services, the first of which came in 2021 — when she inked a three-year contract with Spotify, which was reportedly worth $US60 million ($A92 million). After that contract came to an end in 2024, Cooper moved on to SiriusXM, which reportedly offered her a multi-year deal worth a staggering $US125 million ($A191 million). Having founded her podcast in New York, Cooper relocated to Los Angeles at the start of 2021, and in 2022, she purchased a Studio City abode with her then-boyfriend Kaplan, with whom she tied the knot in April 2024. The couple carried out an extensive renovation on the home after purchasing it, revealing to Architectural Digest in 2023 that the process took just over a year to complete. 'I was a little overwhelmed by how much of an undertaking it would be, because [the home] was not our style whatsoever,' she told the publication. 'It was so far from our taste that it allowed us to tailor every single room to our liking.' Parts of this story first appeared in Realtor and was republished with permission.
