Shot-happy Alejandro Garnacho an option for Dream Team bosses in need of bold strategy
The upcoming European semi-finals offer additional point-scoring opportunities and gaffers preparing a bold strategy for the next two Gameweeks should consider Alejandro Garnacho (£3.3m) when mulling over potential difference-makers.
4
Still in the infancy of his professional career, the Manchester United winger is far from the finished article.
However, while he can be a source of frustration at times, it's simply a fact he's among the top ten midfielders in Dream Team right now.
Garnacho, equally capable of the sublime and the ridiculous, has amassed 247 points via nine goals and 12 assists.
This total puts him above the likes of Eberechi Eze (£4.8m), Brennan Johnson (£3.1m), Phil Foden (£5.3m), Justin Kluivert (£4m) and Anthony Gordon (£4.5m) in the rankings.

The Red Devils are one of just four teams set to fulfil four fixtures across Gameweeks 33 and 34.
This coming Gameweek, they will travel to Bournemouth (Premier League) and Athletic Bilbao (Europa League).
After that, they will face Brentford in London before hosting the La Liga stalwarts in the second leg of their European semi-final.
The majority of Dream Team bosses will be sceptical of Man United's prospects for the remainder of the campaign given how 2024/25 has gone to date.
Ruben Amorim's side are currently 14th in the table, just two points ahead of West Ham in 17th.
It's understandable if gaffers are hesitant to rely on a team that have underwhelmed to such a degree but Garnacho might be able to produce healthy returns even if everything else crashes and burns around him.
4
It looked for all the world that Amorim's troops would be eliminated from Europe by Lyon in the quarter-finals before they mustered a spirited comeback of immense drama.
Garnacho notched a double-digit haul across both legs against the Ligue 1 outfit.
The most notable statistic regarding the Argentina international is his overall tally of 49 shots on target in 2024/25, a total only bettered by Erling Haaland (£7.8m) and Mohamed Salah (£7.2m).
MOST SHOTS ON TARGET AMONG DREAM TEAM PLAYERS THIS SEASON (ALL COMPS):
83 - Erling Haaland
73 - Mohamed Salah
49 - Alejandro Garnacho
49 - Alexander Isak
49 - Cole Palmer
47 - Ollie Watkins
44 - Matheus Cunha
44 - Bruno Fernandes
42 - Antoine Semenyo
39 - Bryan Mbeumo
Critics would say Garnacho should have converted more of his shots into goals this campaign - a fair comment - but the level of threat he offers is encouraging.
Shot-happy players make for very useful Dream Team assets.
4
It goes without saying that Bruno Fernandes (£7m) should be the first port of call for managers aiming to target Man United's fixtures in the next two Gameweeks.
The Portuguese playmaker is comfortably the leading midfielder in the game with 384 points to his name.
However, given Fernandes is the third-most popular player in his position, his returns may not shape Mini Leagues.
Combining him and Garnacho in midfield offers a potential point of difference if Man United are able to score a few goals in the next fortnight.

Coleen Rooney picks up a bottle of vodka as she calls into her village shop after trip to Ireland with husband Wayne and son Kai
Coleen Roone y nipped to her local shop on Wednesday, shortly after returning from a trip to Ireland with son Wayne and eldest son Kai. The mother-of-four, 39, was spotted leaving a village store in leafy Cheshire - where the family own a sprawling new-build mansion - after picking up a bottle of Smirnoff vodka. The brand's distinctive logo was visible through the plastic bag she carried while making her way back to her car. Coleen looked relaxed in a plain white T-shirt and dark blue skinny jeans as she exited the shop with a white carrier bag in hand. Keeping things casual, she slipped on a pair of nude flip-flops and accessorised simply with a wristwatch. Her outing comes after she and her husband Wayne Rooney, 39, were every inch the supportive parents as they watched their son Kai play for Manchester United in the 2025 Super Cup NI. The Rooney's travelled to Coleraine, Northern Ireland, to stand pitchside and watch Kai, 15, play in the youth football tournament, which kicked off last week. The married couple also took their younger sons - Kit, eight, and Cass, six - to watch their older brother in action ahead of Man United's match against Co Tyrone. Ahead of the game, Wayne and Coleen were pictured looking every inch the supportive parents as they smiled for the cameras alongside their younger sons. Wayne, who also shares son Klay, 11, with Coleen, cut a casual figure in an all-black ensemble and flashed a huge smile as he stepped out to show his support for Kai. Meanwhile, Coleen looked stylish in a pink T-shirt and jeans, which she styled with a burgundy jacket. Kai took to the field when Man United played against Co Tyrone at the Riada Stadium at 7.30pm on Wednesday. Earlier in the week, Kai secured a huge achievement as he nabbed a goal in a 3-0 win over West Cork Academy. Wayne himself played in the Super Cup NI before shooting to stardom and shared some words of support for his son. When asked if he gives Kai any tips, Wayne said he simply 'lets him play and watch' and praised his son for handling the added attention because of his surname 'well'. Speaking to Super Cup NI, Wayne shared: 'He just plays, that's what he's done this whole time playing, I think it's very unfair for anyone to expect him to go and do all kinds, he's just playing as a young boy, he's 15, just playing and doing it. 'But of course he gets different attention to his teammates, but he handles that really well.' Wayne played in the Super Cup - formerly the Milk Cup - himself in 2000 for Everton's Under-14 side and described the time as some of his 'greatest memories'. The Super Cup is renowned for showcasing young and upcoming footballing talents. Kai has been showing off his burgeoning football talent all season, and recently took part in a match against Glasgow Rangers in the Super Cup NI. United beat Rangers 2-0 as they continue their trajectory towards the top of Group C of the Premier section. Both goals were scored by Abdoulaye Douka Nkoto. Manchester United have been One of the goals was scored by Kai, who has been making waves at the tournament as one of the younger players to watch for the future.

Son Heung-min admits Los Angeles FC move was not his first choice
At an introductory press conference in Los Angeles, the South Korea international admitted he had to be persuaded of the merits of moving to the United States before signing an initial two-year deal. New Beginnings ☀️ Welcome to Los Angeles, Sonny! — LAFC (@LAFC) August 6, 2025 'They've been absolutely working so hard to get me here to join LAFC,' Son said. 'If I'm honest it was not my first choice but John (Thorrington, LAFC general manager) was the first call when the season finished and John changed my mind, he changed my heart. 'I'm so happy to see all the Korean fans, I was at the game and I saw you supporting like crazy and I wanted to run on the pitch and show my performance. I'm here to win and I will perform. 'I will definitely show you something exciting in… are we calling it football or soccer? I will definitely show you some exciting football and we will have success.' Son added that the decision to leave Spurs had left him feeling 'very empty'. 'I felt like I gave it all, but I felt like I needed a new chapter and new challenge and I chose LAFC. I'm old but I still have good physicality, good legs and I still have good quality.' Earlier Son had issued an heartfelt message to Tottenham fans on making the 'hardest decision ever' to leave north London. 'How to find the right words for this? I don't know. I have been thinking for days. It's impossible. But here I go,' Son wrote. 'It's time for me to say goodbye to Tottenham Hotspur. My home for the past decade. When I arrived in 2015, I didn't speak English, I didn't know London, but you welcomed me with open arms, believed in me, and stood by me through every high and low. 'I was just a boy from Korea with big dreams who was supposed to have no chance. And now, 10 years later, North London is in my heart forever. Dear Spurs fans… Sonny's letter to you 🤍 — Tottenham Hotspur (@SpursOfficial) August 6, 2025 'I've made friends for life here, had the honour of becoming a godfather here, and had the privilege of captaining our special club here. I've poured my heart and soul into this club, which makes this the hardest decision ever. 'I thought if I was ever going to leave, it would have to be on my terms, on the best terms, when our mission had been accomplished together. With pride and honour.' Son joined Spurs in 2015 from Bayer Leverkusen. Alongside old partner in crime Harry Kane, Son holds the record for the most goal involvements by a duo in the Premier League, with the pair assisting each other on a record 47 occasions in the competition. Son's performance helped turn Tottenham into title contenders when they finished second in the Premier League under Mauricio Pochettino in 2017, finishing as runners-up in the Champions League two years later. After Kane left for Bayern Munich, Son became Spurs captain under Ange Postecoglou, lifting the Europa League trophy in May – having come off the bench in the final against Manchester United, a 1-0 Spurs win, after an injury-affected campaign. The popular South Korean will renew acquaintances with Hugo Lloris and move to Los Angeles, which boasts one of the largest Korean populations in the world, ahead of next summer's World Cup in the United States.
