For now, only a limited number of devotees will be allowed to visit the Ram Darbar, and entry will be regulated through passes, which will be issued free of cost.
The Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya continues to draw attention withe devotees thronging the religious site with the consecration of the Ram Dabar on the first floor of the temple.
Meanwhile, Ram Temple Construction Committee chairman Nripendra Mishra has revealed that a total of 45 kilogram of pure gold has been used in the construction of the grand temple. He said the estimated value of the gold, excluding taxes, is around Rs 50 crore. Gold has been used extensively in the doors on the ground floor of the temple and the throne of Lord Ram.
Additional goldwork is still underway in the Sheshavatar Temple, also part of the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple complex.
Public Access Restricted To Ram Darbar
Following the consecration of the Ram Darbar, Mishra said arrangements are being made for controlled public access to the sacred space.
The consecration of the Ram Darbar on June 5 marked a spiritual milestone, however, public access to the newly consecrated first-floor sanctum will initially be restricted. Due to ongoing works and soaring summer temperatures, entry will be permitted only via free passes issued to a limited number of devotees.
As the Ram Darbar is 20-feet-high and requires devotees to climb about 40 steps, there are limited arrangements for going up, and the lift's construction will take time.
'A lift is being constructed for elderly devotees, but it will take time to complete. Devotees will have to wait to visit the Ram Darbar due to unfavourable conditions and after the rainy season, public visits may be possible," Ram Temple Trust Secretary Champat Rai said.
While the main structure of the Ram Temple has been completed, other parts of the temple complex, including the museum, auditorium, and guest house, are still under construction. These are expected to be completed by December 2025.
The final task will be to hoist the flag on the temple's peak, likely in October or November, once the weather is favourable. Until then, minor works will be completed.
Consecration Of Ram Darbar
On Thursday the consecration ceremony of seven idols was completed at the temple.
The idols installed on the first floor above the sanctum sanctorum include Ram Darbar in the middle, a Shivalinga in the north eastern corner, a Ganapati idol in the southeastern corner, Hanuman idol in the middle of the southern side, Surya in the south western corner, Bhagwati in the north western corner, and Annapurna Mata in the middle of the northern side.
Ram Temple Inauguration
The 51-inch-tall idol of Lord Ram Lalla, crafted by famed sculptor Arun Yogiraj, was consecrated among around 8,000 VVIPS belonging to all sects of life on January 22, 2024. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had presided over the rituals of the pran pratishtha ceremony.
The temple, constructed in the traditional Nagara style, has a length (east-west) of 380 feet, a width of 250 feet, and a height of 161 feet. It is designed by celebrated architect Chandrakant B Sompura, in collaboration with son Ashish.
The sanctum sanctorum houses the childhood form of Bhagwan Shri Ram (the idol of Shri Ram Lalla), while on the first floor, there is Shri Ram Darbar.
Supported by a total of 392 pillars and 44 doors, the Mandir is three-storied, with each floor being 20 feet tall. The pillars and walls showcase intricately sculpted depictions of Hindu deities, gods and goddesses.

Assam CM lays foundation, performs bhumi pujan for centralised community kitchen in Nalbari

Guwahati, (Assam) [India], June 7 (ANI): During his one-day visit to Nalbari, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday laid the foundation stone and performed the bhumi pujan for the centralised community kitchen of the Akshaya Patra Foundation at Gandhia. He also inaugurated the inspection bungalow constructed by the Nalbari District Territorial Building Division of the Public Works Department (Buildings & National Highways) at Ghograpar. Speaking at the foundation stone-laying ceremony in Gandhia, CM Sarma stated that the present state government has consistently worked to support people from all sections of society. Highlighting various initiatives for the socio-economic development of the poor and middle class, he mentioned that the centralised community kitchen, once completed, would bring tangible improvements to the region. The facility, estimated to cost Rs. 25 crore 33 lakh 90 thousand, would have the capacity to serve 25,000 students, covering Nalbari as well as parts of Tamulpur and Baksa districts. He noted the contributions of the Hare Krishna Movement and the Akshaya Patra Foundation in providing meals to government primary and middle English school students. He stated that, in addition to government support, these organisations invest their own resources, ensuring timely and hygienically prepared food delivery to schools. He said that individuals currently involved in the mid-day meal service would continue in their roles, focusing on distributing meals. He further stated that the new system would reduce the workload on teachers, enabling them to concentrate on academic responsibilities. Referring to past contributions during emergencies, he added that Akshaya Patra had also provided meals to flood-affected people in Kamrup district relief camps. Reflecting on the evolution of the mid-day meal initiative, the Chief Minister said he had initiated efforts in 2011, leading to the introduction of centralised mid-day meal services in the Jalukbari constituency during 2011-12. The programme was later extended to West Guwahati, East Guwahati, Dispur, and subsequently the entire Kamrup district. He further stated that Akshaya Patra is currently distributing mid-day meals in Jorhat, and construction of a centralised kitchen is underway in Majuli. He added that similar facilities would be developed soon in Dibrugarh, Lakhimpur, and Tezpur. Earlier in the day, he inaugurated the inspection bungalow constructed near Ghograpar Higher Secondary School on the road to Nalbari Medical College. The bungalow was built by the Nalbari District Territorial Building Division of the Public Works (Building & NH) Department with administrative approval of approximately Rs. 4.96 crore. The three-storey structure includes four VIP rooms, twelve deluxe rooms, a 60-seater conference hall, an office room, a reception area, and other general amenities, along with landscaping and parking amenities. Consumer forum orders tour advance refund for man who had Covid-19

Ghaziabad: The consumer forum has ruled in favour of a man seeking a refund of a tour advance after contracting Covid in 2021. The forum observed that since the cancellation was due to circumstances beyond the consumer's control, the tour operator must return the advance amount and a Rs 5,000 fine within 45 days of the order. Petitioner Ishan Pratap Singh had booked a trip for his family from Mumbai to the Maldives between March 13 and 17, 2021, through Ineedtrip, a travel agency based out of Ghaziabad. Singh told the forum that he took a loan of Rs 1.4 lakh to pay a Rs 1.9 lakh advance to the company for the trip. "I had to take a RT-PCR test (a medical test to determine Covid infection) as per prevailing travel norms, and was detected positive for the infection on March 12, a day before the trip," the petitioner said, adding that he requested the travel agency to reschedule the trip for May 22 that year. However, the agency refused, stating that the free RT-PCR package was only valid until April 2021. "Eventually, I decided to opt for April 1 as the travel date, but given the pandemic and my health condition, I had to reschedule it to Nov 2021. The agent said that if the trip was not availed by Sept 2021, the hotel with which the agency had tied up would forfeit the booking amount," Singh told the forum. He added that the agency did not return the advance money, and he is still paying EMIs for the loan he took. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Что говорит о вашем характере поза, в которой вы спите! Consequently, the consumer forum (Ghaziabad) president Praveen Kumar Jain and member RP Singh heard and passed the order ex parte. "The applicant requested an extension of the dates due to the pandemic and his health condition. The travel agency neither extended the dates nor returned the advance amount taken from the customer, which falls under the provisions of deficiency in service under the Consumer Protection Act. Accordingly, Ineedtrip is directed to pay the advance amount of Rs 1.9 lakh within 45 days of the order, with an interest of 6% from the date of the order until the final payment is made," the forum ruled. It also instructed the travel agency to pay Rs 5000 as compensation for legal costs and mental harassment to the petitioner.

Tourism dept plans international roadshows to attract tourists to Goa

Panaji: The tourism department plans to conduct international roadshows in the Gulf region, Denmark, Norway, Uzbekistan, Finland, Sweden, and Poland this year. 'These are the top countries based on social media statistics and the quantum of visitors,' said a department note. The department hopes to attract international tourists to Goa, including first-time travellers for wellness, MICE, leisure, and medical tourism. The department could tentatively spend at least Rs 4.3 crore on the roadshows, which officials say are crucial to depict Goa and India as favourable tourism destinations. As of now, the dates for the roadshows have not been announced, but the department has moved to appoint an event management agency to host the tourism roadshows. The department stated that the international roadshows help enhance Goa's 'visibility and presence' while also providing a platform for Goan tour operators, travel agents, hoteliers, and airlines to network and connect with their international counterparts. 'The target of this participation is to attract international tourists to Goa for various segments of tourism, and accordingly, the agency will have to evolve a strategy to achieve these goals,' said a department official. A six-member team from Goa is likely to participate in the international tourism roadshows. While critics, including the Travel and Tourism Association of Goa, have expressed concern about the expenditure on these roadshows, the tourism department believes that such outreach helps Goa compete with international markets. 'We need to promote Goa as a safe and world-class tourism destination to ensure a sustained flow of tourists into Goa. We will present a marketing plan for approval,' said an official. In April, the tourism department's empowered committee called for a rethink on the department's participation in roadshows and expos, particularly in foreign countries. The department's top officials agreed to 'restructure and streamline' roadshows and trade shows — both domestic and international — based on a cost-benefit analysis. At that time, the tourism department said that participation in trade expos and roadshows 'must be aligned with clear performance benchmarks and measurable outcomes' so that govt funds were efficiently utilised.
