Vernon Kay hits back at 'freebie' backlash after attending several Oasis gigs
Vernon Kay has been criticised following an action-packed weekend, as the star made a recent admission about his social life. But fans have shrugged off the criticism, rallying around the presenter to show their support. The BBC Radio 2 star was among the first to witness Liam and Noel Gallagher reunite on stage for the inaugural gig of their Oasis Live '25 tour in Cardiff earlier this month.
Not content with just one performance, the Bolton-born star made his way to Manchester to catch Oasis ' comeback at Heaton Park, attending both gigs on Friday (July 11) and Saturday (July 12).
Vernon shared a clip from Liam and Noel's first homecoming concert on Instagram, where he was seen donning sunglasses and a New York Cosmos shirt, belting out the lyrics to "Live Forever." He captioned the video: "Manchester! Day1. @oasis The excellence continues! Bravo!!"
However, some followers questioned how he managed to secure tickets to multiple shows in the comments of his post. Social media user @lfcarbz queried: "How did Vernon get so many tickets? Cardiff now Manchester!" to which Vernon responded: "Paid for them!!"
User @alanthomas1965 also commented: "A lot of people couldn't get tickets for 1 gig you've managed 2 I wonder how that is," prompting Vernon to admit: "Smashed the credit card, Alan!"
On Saturday (July 12), Vernon updated his Instagram again, revealing he had stayed in Manchester over the weekend to enjoy the Henley Festival. Donning a crisp white shirt, dickie bow and sunglasses for the event, he enjoyed performances by club legends Hacienda Classical, fronted by Graeme Park.
Vernon shared a clip from the concert on social media, exclaiming: "@fac51thehaciendaofficial @graemepark What a superb night @henleyfestival!! B2B Manchester icons in two days!
"(And for those who are gonna get the wet wipes out, our dear friend Mr. Park who we've admired since '89! ! Sorted us out!) Rave on Brothers and Sisters!! Nothing but [heart emojis]."
Vernon has since posted an update showing how he spent his latest weekend, which included a trip to Wimbledon with his eldest daughter, Phoebe. In his post, the ex-Family Fortunes host wrote: "Well what a weekend!
"Not dusted off the cobwebs like that in a long time!! @oasis @fac51thehaciendaofficial classical with @graemepark and @wimbledon with @champagnelanson. Back garden and the new lawnmower await!!"
Fans were quick to express their enthusiasm. Social media user @johnfox76.jf commented: "Who cares if he bought a ticket or not? Being a Celebrity comes with benefits."
While @janetjeans said: "You deserve it!," and @hayley_mc76 remarked: "Good on you Vernon, enjoy the gardening." User @anne.burns3 responded: "LOVED seeing your action packed weekend."
Another fan, @rubyeyelashes added: "Glad you enjoyed everything that's what it's about! And a new lawnmower!! Get in!"
Meanwhile, @maxiflamingo cheered on: "Good for you Vernon! If you get the chance, go for it!! You still got time to plant beetroots!" @andreacassidy7 chimed in with enthusiasm: "Flipping love it! We only have one life!!"

Harry Styles fans convinced he's launching sex toy range after cryptic clip
Harry Styles fans think that his brand Pleasing might be about to drop some sex toys – and they might actually be onto something. The Watermelon Sugar singer, 31, launched his brand Pleasing in November 2021, a pop-up focused on selling nail varnishes and marketed as unisex. The brand has since expanded and become an online shop with a permanent retail deal with Selfridges in London. The shop now has a range that includes perfumes, scarves, lip balms, tote bags, tees, and now… vibrators? Teasing a new launch on the website, Pleasing has informed fans: 'Something Pleasing, Coming Soon.' Pretty innocuous, right? But then there's this message: 'This page is intended for individuals 18 years of age and older.' So what is the product that's only suitable for adult eyes? Pleasing encourages fans to be the first to sign up to learn about the launch, by entering their contact information. After signing up, fans then receive an email that reads: 'Message received. You've been so good at communicating what you want. 'On July 25th we'll be ready to give it to you online and in person at 251 Elizabeth Street, New York City.' Give us what though? Of course, that's not the only piece of evidence that's getting fans in a tizzy. On social media, Pleasing has shared some promotional adverts. The first post showed a business card for 'Something Pleasing' being slotted into a flip calendar. The caption read: 'You forgot 251 Elizabeth Street N.Y.C. 25th of July.' The second was a video of a finger tapping out Morse code on a Telegraph key with a glass of milk in the background. A woman presses her ear against a door and then gasps when the code finishes. 'For those playing at home,' reads the caption, with again, a New York address and a date for July 25- 27. A third video, posted on Thursday, showed a woman dialling a phone. Then a mobile vibrates on a couch. Then several other phones began vibrating, answered with a gasp or a moan – hubba hubba. Finally, the shot cuts to a red dial-up phone with what appears to be Harry's tattooed hand picking up the phone to answer the call. 'Say that again,' read the caption. The vibrating phones, suggestive gasps and moans, and teasing captions about 'playing at home' have fans convinced…this is the start of a sexy launch. 'Is this something sex related? Like sex toys or lubricants related? lol sorry,' said- kyloyun_i.stagram in the comment section of Pleasing's Instagram. 'Woah I missed a chapter Harry Styles is selling what now?' said brookeybaxter. 'Oh so we are getting sex toys,' said 'Emphasis on the vibrations, can't wait til the BIG reveal,' said Oceangirlx. 'My bingo card did not include my first ever Harry Styles merch in 2025 being literal dildos and vibrators,' said cherrissue on X. While fans were slightly baffled by this possible new venture, many were over the moon and already preparing to part with their pay cheque to afford something from this new sexual wellness range. More Trending '@Harry_Styles can i klarna the pleasing vibrator?' asked noacfc**t on X. 'harry styles pleasing vibrator rumors got my kickin my feet (i will be buying it),' said musclemansmom5. Comedian forced to cancel Edinburgh Fringe show after 'terror' charges
A comedian has cancelled her Edinburgh Fringe show due to bail conditions after being charged in connection with a van being driven into the perimeter of a defence factory. Susan Riddell, 42, was one of three women charged in connection with the incident at Leonardo UK's facility in Edinburgh on July 15. A pro-Palestinian group, Shut Down Leonardo Edinburgh, took responsibility for incident, claiming members had damaged the site on Ferry Road. Appearing alongside Riddell at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday was Allegra Fitzherbert, 34, and Naomi Stubbs-Gorman, 31. Each faced a charge of malicious mischief aggravated by reason of having a 'terrorist connection'. Riddell, from Glasgow, faced an additional charge of dangerous driving aggravated by reason of having a 'terrorist connection'. The 42-year-old has now cancelled her Edinburgh Fringe show because she cannot travel into the city under imposed bail conditions. Her new show, How Do You Sleep at Night?, was originally due to run for a month at the festival, which begins next week. The comedian's hour-long performance had a slot at Monkey Barrel at The Tron from July 28 until August 24. In an Instagram post, Ms Riddell said: 'Thanks to everyone who has shared my Edinburgh fringe show but unfortunately due to bail conditions I'm barred from Edinburgh for the foreseeable so I won't be doing my show. 'If you contact the venue, you can get a refund.' Get all the latest news from around the country Follow STV News Scan the QR code on your mobile device for all the latest news from around the country
