Vernon Kay owned up to using his credit card to pay for two expensive purchases that had social media users fuming
Vernon Kay has been criticised following an action-packed weekend, as the star made a recent admission about his social life. But fans have shrugged off the criticism, rallying around the presenter to show their support. The BBC Radio 2 star was among the first to witness Liam and Noel Gallagher reunite on stage for the inaugural gig of their Oasis Live '25 tour in Cardiff earlier this month.
Not content with just one performance, the Bolton-born star made his way to Manchester to catch Oasis ' comeback at Heaton Park, attending both gigs on Friday (July 11) and Saturday (July 12).
Vernon shared a clip from Liam and Noel's first homecoming concert on Instagram, where he was seen donning sunglasses and a New York Cosmos shirt, belting out the lyrics to "Live Forever." He captioned the video: "Manchester! Day1. @oasis The excellence continues! Bravo!!"
However, some followers questioned how he managed to secure tickets to multiple shows in the comments of his post. Social media user @lfcarbz queried: "How did Vernon get so many tickets? Cardiff now Manchester!" to which Vernon responded: "Paid for them!!"
User @alanthomas1965 also commented: "A lot of people couldn't get tickets for 1 gig you've managed 2 I wonder how that is," prompting Vernon to admit: "Smashed the credit card, Alan!"
On Saturday (July 12), Vernon updated his Instagram again, revealing he had stayed in Manchester over the weekend to enjoy the Henley Festival. Donning a crisp white shirt, dickie bow and sunglasses for the event, he enjoyed performances by club legends Hacienda Classical, fronted by Graeme Park.
Vernon shared a clip from the concert on social media, exclaiming: "@fac51thehaciendaofficial @graemepark What a superb night @henleyfestival!! B2B Manchester icons in two days!
"(And for those who are gonna get the wet wipes out, our dear friend Mr. Park who we've admired since '89! ! Sorted us out!) Rave on Brothers and Sisters!! Nothing but [heart emojis]."
Vernon has since posted an update showing how he spent his latest weekend, which included a trip to Wimbledon with his eldest daughter, Phoebe. In his post, the ex-Family Fortunes host wrote: "Well what a weekend!
"Not dusted off the cobwebs like that in a long time!! @oasis @fac51thehaciendaofficial classical with @graemepark and @wimbledon with @champagnelanson. Back garden and the new lawnmower await!!"
Fans were quick to express their enthusiasm. Social media user @johnfox76.jf commented: "Who cares if he bought a ticket or not? Being a Celebrity comes with benefits."
While @janetjeans said: "You deserve it!," and @hayley_mc76 remarked: "Good on you Vernon, enjoy the gardening." User @anne.burns3 responded: "LOVED seeing your action packed weekend."
Another fan, @rubyeyelashes added: "Glad you enjoyed everything that's what it's about! And a new lawnmower!! Get in!"
Meanwhile, @maxiflamingo cheered on: "Good for you Vernon! If you get the chance, go for it!! You still got time to plant beetroots!" @andreacassidy7 chimed in with enthusiasm: "Flipping love it! We only have one life!!"

Aussie UFC star Tai Tuivasa lights up a massive joint on social media, here's the reason why he won't face any sanctions for it

UFC heavyweight Tai Tuivasa has never been shy about living life on his own terms – and his latest viral moment is no exception. The Australian cult favourite, known for drinking beer from a shoe after each win, posted a video this week puffing on a massive joint while sweating it out in a sauna. The post, shared to his Instagram account with the caption '@bambambudz,' shows Tuivasa enjoying marijuana in a relaxed setting, despite still being an active member of the UFC roster. While it might raise eyebrows, Tuivasa won't face any sanctions from the UFC or law enforcement. That's because the UFC no longer punishes fighters for marijuana use, as long as they're not under the influence during competition. Tuivasa, who currently sits at No. 10 in the UFC heavyweight rankings, hasn't fought in 2024 and has spent time recovering, refocusing, and reshaping. After reports his weight had ballooned to 140kg, the Sydney-born slugger appears to have slimmed down, with fans noting the change in recent appearances. Tuivasa is targeting a return to action in early 2025, aiming to end a frustrating losing streak and put himself back in title contention. But fighting isn't his only hustle. The knockout artist has also entered the booming American cannabis market, launching his own weed brand: Bambambudz. Tuivasa revealed the business in a post back in March, posing with three massive bags of marijuana in front of a greenhouse full of cannabis plants. With a grin and a double peace sign, he declared, 'COMING TO A CITY NEAR YOU US,' teasing future distribution in US states where cannabis is legal. Those include California, Colorado, Illinois and New York – key markets in a $15 billion industry. Bambambudz plans to expand even further, with future dispensaries reportedly being eyed in Thailand. Bambambudz is eyeing US expansion and potential dispensaries in Thailand's shifting market Cannabis was legalised for recreational use there in 2022 before the government moved to restrict it to medical purposes in 2023. Despite the regulatory grey areas, Tuivasa's brand is already generating hype among fans and cannabis users alike. He joins a growing number of athletes embracing the weed business, from Mike Tyson to Nate Diaz. Tuivasa is no stranger to outside-the-cage ventures either – he co-owns Drink West brewery alongside NRL star Nathan Cleary and fellow fighter Tyson Pedro. His larger-than-life personality, brawler mentality, and sense of humour have earned him a loyal following. Even through his recent losses, 'Bam Bam' remains one of the most entertaining figures in the sport. From walk-off knockouts to Joe Rogan-shocking shoeys, he brings energy no one else in the UFC does.

Oasis to rock London for the first time in more than 16 years

After a run of homecoming gigs in Manchester's Heaton Park, the group, fronted by Gallagher brothers Liam and Noel, will take to the stage at London's Wembley Stadium on Friday. The rock band announced their highly anticipated reunion tour in August last year, after Noel quit in 2009 after a backstage brawl at the Rock en Seine festival in Paris. They will now return to perform at Wembley Stadium for the first time since July 12, 2009, when they performed during their Dig Out Your Soul tour. With five nights scheduled, the group posted door and stage timings on their Instagram account with an hour-by-hour breakdown of the evening, starting with the gates opening at 5pm. The night will kick off from 6pm with the rock band Cast, followed by singer Richard Ashcroft at 7pm. Oasis will then take the stage for a two-hour set at 8.15pm. The group kicked off their Oasis Live '25 world tour on July 4 at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, receiving five star reviews from critics at The Guardian, The Telegraph and The Times. The Oasis pop-up shop in Carnaby Street, central London (James Manning/PA) The group has also dominated the UK album charts, with three top five albums, according to the Official Charts Company. While fans were excited at the reunion, some were outraged after some standard tickets in the UK and Ireland jumped from £148 to £355. The controversy prompted the Government and the UK's competition watchdog to pledge to look at the use of dynamic pricing. After their final London gig on August 3, the group will move north to Edinburgh's Murrayfield Stadium before performing at Dublin's Croke Park. The band will then head to Japan, South Korea, South America, Australia and North America. Oasis on stage at the Principality Stadium, Cardiff (Jordan Pettitt/PA) Formed in Manchester in 1991, the band was led by lead guitarist Noel and lead vocalist Liam during their 18 years together. Oasis signed to independent record label Creation Records in 1993, rising to fame with the release of their debut chart-topping album Definitely Maybe on August 29 1994. They had hits with songs including Don't Look Back In Anger, Champagne Supernova, Wonderwall and Live Forever. Dig Out Your Soul, the band's last studio album, was released in 2008, just months before the Paris row.
