Fantasy Football: Are we overlooking Tank Bigsby as potential sleeper for Jaguars?

Yahoo5 days ago
All the talk coming out of Jacksonville Jaguars' training camp is around rookie phenom WR/CB Travis Hunter. But one of the more polarizing running back competitions in the NFL heading into the 2025 season is in Jacksonville. That comp involves Travis Etienne Jr., Tank Bigsby and rookie Bhayshul Tuten. While Etienne came out the gate hot to start his NFL career, he regressed big time last year, paving the way for Bigsby.

Yahoo Fantasy football analysts Matt Harmon and Ray Garvin discussed the Jags' running back situation on the latest episode of the "Yahoo Fantasy Forecast" podcast.

As of this writing, Bigsby's ADP sits at 126th overall in standard Yahoo fantasy football drafts. That would mean he's being drafted at around the 10th round on average in 12-team leagues. Bigsby also sits 105th overall in Yahoo's consensus rankings as well as the RB35 at the position. Ray points out that back in 2023, people believed Bigsby was the best back in a loaded class that featured Jahmyr Gibbs and Bijan Robinson. If Bigsby wins the early-down role for Jacksonville, can he jump up into that class of RB this season?
Bigsby surpassed Etienne in pretty much every notable RB stat category last season. Tank finished with 766 rushing yards on 168 carries and seven touchdowns, 4.6 yards per carry. Etienne was more active in the passing game with 39 catches on 52 targets. But he could be relied on less in the passing game now that Hunter is in town. So if Bigsby gets all the early-down work and goal-line carries, it will be tough to trust Etienne.
Plus, let's not forget about Tuten. Ray points out that his ADP is getting a little "crazy."
So, despite Bigsby's ADP being on the rise, he still presents plenty of value in drafts as a sleeper RB for those looking for a player with major upside.

Lakers jersey history No. 2 — Jarred Vanderbilt

Through the 2024-25 season, the Los Angeles Lakers have had a total of 506 players suit up for them, going back to their days in Minneapolis. Some were forgettable, some were serviceable, some were good and a select few were flat-out legendary. As the Lakers approach their 80th season of existence (they were founded back in 1946 as the Detroit Gems in the National Basketball League), LeBron Wire is taking a look at each player who has worn their jersey, whether it has been a purple and gold one or the ones they donned back in the Midwest during their early years. Here's a look at current Lakers forward Jarred Vanderbilt. Vanderbilt was a second-round draft pick by the Orlando Magic in 2018. He played one season of college basketball at the University of Kentucky, and he got very little playing time during his first two seasons in the NBA. During the 2020-21 season, his third in the pros, he started to emerge as a strong defender and rebounder as a member of the Minnesota Timberwolves. He was sent to the Utah Jazz during the summer of 2022 as part of the deal that brought Minnesota's Rudy Gobert, and in February 2023, he arrived in L.A. as part of the trade that jettisoned beleaguered guard Russell Westbrook. Lakers fans quickly took a liking to the energetic and defensive-minded Vanderbilt, as he helped the team surge late in the season and reach the Western Conference finals. He has been riddled with injuries since, but after returning from a foot injury midway through the 2024-25 campaign, he remained relatively healthy. His big weakness is his lack of outside shooting, which has caused his playing time to dwindle during the playoffs. But he can still help out off the bench as an energy and hustle player as L.A. looks to become an elite team again. On Saturday, Jerry Jones was mum on Micah Parsons (which might say plenty)

Last Saturday, Cowboys owner and G.M. Jerry Jones said plenty about linebacker Micah Parsons. This Saturday, Jones said nothing. Asked about the status of the conversations with Parsons by Kristi Scales of 105.3 The Fan before the preseason opener against the Rams, Jones offered up s word shrimp salad. "I'm glad to see he's working out, in shape, and feels great, and so all of that's good, and, I don't have anything to comment on," Jones said. Given the extent to which Jones has been talking (and talking . . . and talking) about Parsons, the silence speaks volumes. Especially with the Hollywood premiere of the Netflix All-About-Jerry docuseries happening on Monday. This week will be about promoting The Jerry Show, which debuts on August 19. What better way to start the push for the latest NFL-Netflix partnership than to dominate the sports news with the signing of Parsons to his overdue long-term deal? Hey, if the series does well enough, maybe the NFL will end up owning 10 percent of Netflix, too.
