Give a leg up to SHGs to vie with Adanis, Ambanis: CM
Stating that the State government envisaged plans to transform one crore women into millionaires, the Chief Minister said that the government would soon allocate additional 1,000 MW of solar power projects to women. 'The government has already handed over 1,000 MW of solar power generation projects. We are now ready to award another 1,000 MW of solar power generation works to the women groups if they manage efficiently,' he said.
According to him, women are being encouraged in a big way to become entrepreneurs. 'The government is promoting SHGs as a strong business community. Apart from solar projects, we also allocated petrol pumps to them. Our objective is to empower women to compete with Adani and Ambani in green power generation,' he said.
Revanth Reddy further said that the women groups were also part of the management of government schools like Amma Adarsh Schools. The works of stitching students' uniforms were also awarded to women groups. To promote the products manufactured by the women groups, the government opened stalls at Shilparamam in Hyderabad, he added.
Stating that the Congress party never underestimated the power of the women community, the CM said that former Prime Minister India Gandhi displayed the might of women during India-China and India - Pakistan wars.
India's victory in the wars is the result of invincible women's competence. The government in Telangana has been organising a slew of programmes for women's empowerment, he explained.
Instructing the authorities to organise a special drive to include women in urban areas in self-help groups, Revanth Reddy said that the government was also presenting the gifts which are produced by the women groups to the foreign delegates and other guests during their visit to Telangana. 'My government 's policy is to promote the women community and empower them, " he said.

Jaishankar said Taiwan part of China, says Beijing; no change in ties with Taipei: Delhi
Beijing said Tuesday External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar told visiting Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi that 'Taiwan is part of China' and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval conveyed that India 'consistently adhered to the one-China policy'. Responding to these remarks in the Chinese readout of Wang's meetings in New Delhi, official sources said there has been 'no change' in India's position on Taiwan and its ties with Taipei are focused on economy, technology and culture. The Chinese Foreign Ministry, in an English version of the readout on Jaishankar's meeting with Wang Monday, quoted the External Affairs Minister as having said: 'Stable, cooperative, and forward-looking India-China relations serve the interests of both countries. Taiwan is part of China.' And, in its readout of the meeting between Doval and Wang, China quoted Doval saying 'it is necessary to enhance understanding, deepen trust, and strengthen cooperation, as this is crucial for the well-being of the peoples of both countries and world peace and development. India has consistently adhered to the one-China policy.' India has always maintained the One-China policy – which means Taiwan is part of China. India and Taiwan have their representative offices in each other's country, focusing on trade and cultural activities. And now, a technology component has been added to it. India does not have formal diplomatic ties with Taiwan yet because it follows the One-China policy. However, during then Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao's visit to India in December 2010, India did not mention support for the One-China policy in the joint communique. That has been the template for the last 15 years. Responding to the Chinese readout Tuesday, sources said, 'There is no change in our position on Taiwan. We stressed that like the rest of the world, India has a relationship with Taiwan that focuses on economic, technology and cultural ties. We intend to continue it.' In an oblique reference to US President Donald Trump's moves on tariffs, the Chinese readout of the meeting between Jaishankar and Wang said, 'Wang Yi stated that in today's world, unprecedented changes are unfolding at a faster pace, unilateralism and bullying acts are rampant, and free trade and the international order face severe challenges.' 'On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations, humanity has reached a critical crossroads in determining the direction of the future. As the two largest developing countries with a combined population of more than 2.8 billion, China and India should demonstrate a sense of global responsibility, act as major countries, set an example for developing countries in pursuit of strength through unity, and contribute to advancing a multipolar world and greater democracy in international relations,' it said. According to the Chinese readout, Wang also said that the 'successful meeting between President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Kazan (in Russia last October) has provided guidance for the resumption and a new start for China-India relations. Both sides have been earnestly implementing the common understandings reached by the leaders of the two countries, gradually resuming exchanges and dialogues at various levels, maintaining peace and tranquility in border areas, and enabling Indian pilgrims to resume their pilgrimages to the sacred mountains and lakes in China's Xizang' – a reference to the resumption of the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. 'China-India relations are showing a positive trend toward returning to the main course of cooperation. This year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and India. Both sides should earnestly draw lessons from the past 75 years, form a correct strategic perception, view each other as partners and opportunities rather than rivals or threats, invest their valuable resources in development and revitalization, and explore right ways for neighboring major countries to get along with each other, which are characterized by mutual respect and trust, peaceful coexistence, pursuit of common development, and win-win cooperation,' it said. The Chinese readout also said that 'Jaishankar said that under the joint guidance of leaders of both countries, India-China relations have moved from the bottom and are continuously improving and developing, with exchanges and cooperation between the two sides across various fields moving toward normalization. He expressed gratitude to China for facilitating Indian pilgrims' visits to the sacred mountains and lakes in China's Xizang. It is crucial for India and China to improve their strategic perceptions of each other. As the two largest developing countries, both India and China uphold multilateralism and are committed to promoting a fair and balanced multi-polar world. Centre lists ‘ineligible' ration card holders, asks states to remove them
THE CENTRAL government has for the first time prepared a list of ration card holders who may not qualify for benefits such as free food grains since they are either taxpayers, owners of four-wheelers or even directors in companies. The Centre's Department of Food and Public Distribution has arrived at such a list by matching the details of ration card holders with databases of government entities such as the Income-Tax department (taxpayers), Ministry of Corporate Affairs (directors) and Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (four-wheeler owners). The officials said these ration card holders — about 1.17 crore — may not qualify for free food grains under the National Food Security Act (NFSA). Having arrived at this list, it has now directed states to undertake necessary field verification and remove the ineligible ration card holders by September 30. Responding to a query from The Indian Express, an official from the Department of Food and Public Distribution said the Centre 'has helped states by providing this data to identify and remove ineligible beneficiaries so that genuine people in the waiting list can avail the scheme'. The review of ration cards/ beneficiaries list, identification of ineligible/ duplicate ration cards and inclusion of eligible beneficiaries/ households is the responsibility of states, he said. The NFSA dashboard shows that 19.17 crore ration cards have been issued as on August 19, with total beneficiaries across 36 states and Union Territories totalling 76.10 crore. As per rules, all government employees, households with annual income of Rs 1 lakh or more, four-wheeler owners, and taxpayers are ineligible to get free foodgrains. In a letter to Chief Secretaries of all states and Advisors to the UT Administrators, Union Food Secretary Sanjeev Chopra reiterated the government's earlier instructions about discrepancies identified in the Ration Card Management System (RCMS) database. 'These discrepancies were related to beneficiaries who were either duplicate, deceased, or inactive (silent beneficiaires) and State/UTs were accordingly advised to undertake identification and field verification of such beneficiaries,' he wrote in the letter sent to states on July 8, 2025. 'In continuation of this initiative, the Department has undertaken a comprehensive exercise to further strengthen rightful targeting by matching RCMS data with databases of various Government of India entities including the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA), Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH), and PM-Kisan,' Chopra wrote. 'Based on this inter-ministerial data convergence, the Department has identified a set of beneficiaries who appear in one or more of the above databases and may not qualify as per eligibility norms prescribed by respective States/UTs. These lists will be shared with all States/UTs via API-based integration and will be visible to State officials through the Rightful Targeting Dashboard developed by the Department,' he wrote. 'As you are aware, the responsibility for identification of beneficiaries rests with the State Government. You are, therefore, requested to kindly undertake necessary field verification of such flagged cases and initiate appropriate action for data cleansing, wherever ineligibility is established. This exercise is critical to ensure that the resources under TPDS are directed only towards the eligible households,' said Food Secretary Chopra. 'I am sure that you will appreciate that cleansing the database of ineligible beneficiaries will enable any left-out deserving individuals and families to be included in the system, thus reinforcing the equity and integrity of the Public Distribution System,' he said. 'It is requested that the above exercise be completed expeditiously and latest by 30th September 2025,' Chopra said in the report. In July, the Centre had informed Rajya Sabha that as many as 1.34 crore 'bogus/ ineligible' ration cards had been deleted/ cancelled during 2021-2023. The NFSA, introduced by the then UPA government with effect from July 5, 2013, entitles 67 per cent of households—50 per cent urban and 75 per cent rural— to receive food grains at a subsidised price (rice Rs 3/kg, wheat Rs 2/kg) under the Targeted Public Distribution System (TPDS). In absolute terms, the maximum number of people, which can be covered by the NFSA across the country is about 81.35 crore. However, the NDA government has waived the subsidised prices under its Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, providing free food grains.
