Aim for 15 per cent growth rate in Palnadu, says Lanka Dinakar
GUNTUR: Lanka Dinakar, Chairperson of the State's 20-Point Programme Committee, directed district officials to aim for a 15 per cent growth rate and ensure effective implementation of Central government and State schemes.
At a review meeting held at the Joshua Conference Hall in the Collectorate on Wednesday, Lanka Dinakar urged the officials to tap into Palnadu district's tourism potential by promoting spiritual and recreational sites, including Buddhist monasteries and Shaivite temples. He emphasised the need for detailed project reports (DPRs) to attract public investment and stressed alignment with national goals like Viksit Bharat and Swarna Andhra.
Reviewing agriculture, housing, and public health sectors, he called for expanding natural farming to 1.25 lakh acres and raising awareness of the Prime Minister Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY).
Lanka Dinakar criticised delays in National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA) projects, noting Rs 109 crore spent against a target of Rs 70 crore.
He flagged irregularities in infrastructure works and directed immediate action. Palnadu District Collector P Arun Babu emphasised the importance of efficient scheme implementation to address poverty and improve public services.

Delink white ration cards with Aadhaar: Raghurama
Vijayawada: State Assembly Deputy Speaker and Assembly Petitions Committee chairman K Raghurama Krishnaraju said that the petitions committee was urging the State government to issue NTR Aarogyasri health cards without linking them with white ration cards to prevent smuggling of ration rice. He said that the petitions committee will submit its proposals to State government soon. Speaking to mediapersons at his chamber in Assembly on Tuesday, the Deputy Speaker said that people were eager to get NTR Aarogyasri cards. He said if the present system of linkage of white ration cards to get the Aarogyasri card was delinked, the misuse and smuggling of ration rice can be curbed. He said as a result of linkage of ration cards everyone was trying to get white ration cards and misusing the ration rice. Raghuramakrishna Raju pointed out that of the total 1.70 crore families, 1.48 crore families were having white ration cards and the State government has been spending Rs 5,100 crore. If the government delinks the system of issuing Aarogyasri card for those having white ration card, the government can save Rs 2,000 crore which can be utilised for the health sector. He said if the government delinks the white ration card with pensions and other welfare schemes, it can save a huge amount. Earlier, Assembly Petitions Committee members Konatala Ramakrishna, P Vishnu Kumar Raju, Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy, Special Chief Secretary (Health) M T Krishna Babu, Commissioner of Civil Supplies Sowrabh Gaur, Assembly secretary genral Prasanna Kumar Suryadevara, deputy secretary K Rajakumar and assistant secretary R Srinivasa Rao participated in the meeting.

Four of IndiaAI's responsible AI solutions to go live on AIKosha from September

Remove Ads Four of the eight responsible artificial intelligence (RAI) solutions developed under the IndiaAI Mission 's safe and trusted AI pillar are expected to go live on the mission's AIKosha portal between September and December. Consultations had earlier been held in Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Guwahati.'Globally, we know that AI systems are being used to allocate welfare benefits, screen job applications, generate educational content and even inform judicial and healthcare decisions,' said Tim Curtis, director and UNESCO representative for the UNESCO regional office in Delhi. 'In India's context, if these tools are not designed with a whole spectrum of users in mind, including marginalised communities, they really do risk leaving a lot of people behind.'The risks could undermine AI's immense benefits if proactive measures are not taken for responsible development and usage, he added.
