Orlando Bloom 'took himself too seriously' earlier in his career
Orlando Bloom has admitted he took himself "too seriously" early in his career.
The 48-year-old actor - who rose to fame as Legolas in The Lord of the Rings before taking on the role of Will Turner in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise - has admitted he's enjoyed being able to explore his comedic side in his new film Deep Cover.
He told Extra: "I'd love to swim in that space, but I didn't feel like I was, like, performing comedy. I felt like I was just playing truth.
"Taking fun at the serious actor is low-hanging fruit. I've never been guilty of being [serious]... I think actors taking themselves too seriously is comedic.'
His co-star Bryce Dallas Howard quickly interjected, pointing out that he showed his comedy chops in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies
She said: "But Pirates is hilarious, and the tone of Pirates, like, even though you play a character that is earnest, you know, and romantic, you are part of the fabric of this tone."
However, Orlando quipped: "Bryce, I was taking myself really too seriously at that time in my career, so I'm glad you find it funny 'cause I thought I was doing a really good job of being a really serious pirate!"
Orlando and Bryce have enjoyed working together on the show, and he recently described her as an "angel" after teacher his and Katy Perry's daughter Daisy, four, how to paint.
During another joint interview on Heart Breakfast, Bryce said: "I hope it is okay me sharing this? Orlando's beautiful family was there and I love his daughter. I like to watercolour..."
He interjected: "She taught Daisy to watercolour. By the way, most people sit at the side of the set and are scrolling the 'gram or anything.
"And she has set up this beautiful table... She's literally doing these beautiful watercolours, and Daisy would come over and go, 'What are you doing?' "
Bryce added that "Daisy is amazing", before Orlando revealed the impact the sweet moment had.
He said: "And this angel, she sets her up and she's got this watercolour.
"And literally I went home and bought her a watercolour set, and she's been doing water painting, and she loves it now."

'Well, it could be in the future. I don't know,' he told Extra. 'If there's a good script, you will, of course, think about that, but right now, just let him go and do his own thing. He's doing it very well. He's on a good ride right now. He's very popular. People come up to me now and just say, 'Hey, here's my contact.' In 2011, Shriver, 69, filed for divorce from Arnold following 25 years of marriage after finding out about his affair. Just this year, the author opened up about that 'brutal' moment. 'I was consumed with grief and wracked with confusion, anger, fear, sadness and anxiety,' she penned. 'I was unsure now of who I was, where I belonged. Honestly, it was brutal, and I was terrified.' 'The other kids don't love Joe,' the insider alleged after the event. 'It's a shame as he's a really good kid, and Arnold has always treated him like all his other kids — very fairly. But for whatever reason, the other kids take [the affair] out on Joe.' In March, Joseph got candid about choosing to go by his mother's surname. 'I think the main thing is I'm trying to do things on my own,' he told 'Good Morning Britain.' 'My family is very big in supporting from afar and not being so hands-on, I really appreciate that. I think it's really important growing up as a man to do things on your own. To figure it out, that's what I've been doing,' he added. These days, Joseph is also following in his father's footsteps as he is starring in the upcoming film 'Gunner.' 'I've been working really hard,' he shared. Donald Sutherland wore gas mask to cast party
Donald Sutherland attended a Pride + Prejudice cast party in a gas mask. The late screen legend - who died a year ago aged 88 - had a clause in his contract that nobody be allowed to smoke cigarettes anywhere near him but he relaxed his rule to hang out with the rest of the stars on the 2005 period drama by taking his own precautions. Discussing her favourite memory from making the film, Keira Knightley told Vanity Fair: "There was the party that Donald Sutherland came to. "You weren't allowed to smoke. He had it in his contract that nobody on the set was allowed to smoke anywhere near, and you couldn't smell of smoke. "But of course everyone smoked back then. And everybody would be smoking, and then you'd be sort of spraying yourself. "But the party he came to, he came in a gas mask. And he was like, 'I want you to all be able to smoke. And I wanted to come to the party.' " Donald also amused the cast when he suddenly remembered a luxury car he'd forgotten he had owned for years and had it delivered to the set. Rosamund Pike said: "He was amazing. He also remembered halfway through shooting that he had a Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow that he'd bought while making Don't Look Now or something and completely forgotten about. [He] remembered it was garaged somewhere up near Manchester and had it delivered to set." The two actresses admitted very few co-stars have matched the entertainment they got from Donald. Keira said: "I have to say, most actors have been a disappointment since then." Rosamund agreed: "Donald was pretty legendary. We did have dinners with him sometimes, and he told us some pretty wild stories which cannot be shared." Keira was nominated for an Oscar for her work on Pride + Prejudice, which she found "confusing" because she felt she was viewed as a "terrible actress" because of her role in Pirates of the Caribbean. She reflected: "It was pretty big for my career. If people will come up to me, it'll be about that one. "Pirates of the Caribbean had already come out, but I think in the public consciousness, I was seen as a terrible actress. "But I had this phenomenally big success with Pirates. And I think this was the first one that was a phenomenally big success, but was also critically acclaimed. "So I remember it coming out maybe the same year, maybe around the same time as Pirates 2. And I got the worst reviews ever for that, and then also being nominated for an Oscar at the same time—it was, in my 21-year-old head, quite confusing."

Julianne Moore turns down jobs which involve a lot of filming outdoors because she's scared of getting sunburnt. The 64-year-old Hollywood actress has admitted her pale skin often becomes a factor in her decision-making when looking at prospective movie roles because she doesn't want to be forced to film outside with no shade because she would "incinerate". She told the Guardian newspaper: "I have, on occasion, turned things down if it's something that was taking place outside, like, all the time with no shade. "'Guess what? We're shooting at the beach every single day!' That would be tough. I would incinerate." Julianne has Scottish heritage through her mother, who moved from the UK to the US as a young girl, and she admits her mom's roots played a big part in her own childhood. She added: "Many of us have parents who were from somewhere else, so that meant your parents had different customs or languages. "My mother felt very different from the American mothers I knew. She had an accent. She cooked different things: nothing weird, just roast beef, for instance. We had little kilts. I had my hair braided and American mothers didn't do that." Julianne - who is mother to Caleb, 27, and Liv, 23, with husband Bart Freundlich - also revealed she bonded with her The Room Next Door co-star Tilda Swinton over their shared heritage. She added: "I love her. She's Scottish and I'm Scottish-American. We both have red hair. Our children – her twins and my oldest – are the same age. And both of our sons have red beards. Isn't that funny?" One of Julianne's latest roles is in new movie Echo Valley opposite Sydney Sweeney, 27, as her onscreen daughter and she's praised her co-star as "so talented" and revealed they had a lot of "fun"on the shoot. She told Extra: "Sydney's so terrific, she's so available, she's so professional, she's so talented, and we just had a really good time, you know, building the relationship and being with each other. "I think we're aware of how important this relationship is, the mother-daughter bond, and how much it can hold, how elastic it is, and how far you can push it with each other. "It can be volatile, especially when kids are younger, when girls are teenagers and you realise they've had this tremendous history. But it was fun. I think we were able to match each other's energy, and we really enjoyed each other's company, and it worked."
