RACE 1: COUNTRY BOOSTED MAIDEN HANDICAP (1100m)
KINGS CUP (1) drew 11, which is probably one of the reasons why Paul Snowden accepted for Newcastle on Saturday. Such was the impressive nature of his Gosford trial, Kings Cup could very well win either race. SHE'S A WILD ONE (6) has the race experience and thus the race fitness edge having finished second at Moree first-up to a moderately handy type. VOLARE (12) has a ''bad' draw but ''good'' talent.
BET: KINGS CUP to win, or if scratched, She's A Wild One to win
RACE 2: BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP (1800m)
HEART OF PLATINUM (6) has raced 13 times for a win and five placings, Two placings are here at home (from four runs) and she was third at her only track/trip start. Gets back and runs on so will always need the perfectly timed finish – but no doubt about her ability. One could imagine BOLD SPLENDOR (9) getting up on the speed here and given her fitness, she could just stick on.
BET: HEART OF PLATINUM to win, exacta 6 to beat 9.
RACE 3: COUNTRY BOOSTED CLASS 3 HANDICAP (1500m)
SHOW 'EM HOWL (2) has got Country Championships written all over him. He is in an astute stable up there with Robert Agnew and really was quite incredible in the way he won a 58 here at his only run at home thus far. Ran two ripper races in Sydney and deserves a bit of forgiveness for the $1.60 loss at Taree. SUPREME COMMAND (1) is a 65 rater who gets to go around with 57.5kg after the claim. Ran fourth to Bodhi By last start. CLUEDO (3) has barrier two and Aaron Bullock.
BET: SHOW 'EM HOWL to win.
KITSILANO (4) is a 19-start maiden but this could be the day for the son of Vancouver. To be fair, he has placed four times and a lot of the outcome has been decided by his pattern, that is, he often gets back but usually finds the line with a bit of purpose. Terrible draw but has Ben Looker on. KHANT FAIL (9) has placed at five of her 11 starts; all of them were for John Sargent. First run here for Neil Godbolt. Has to be respected. THE FINAL SAY (13) is back to country racing today.
BET: KITSILANO to win, quinella 4, 9.
RACE 5: MAIDEN PLATE (1200m)
REAL MAGIC (16) was a tad unlucky on debut behind Gerry Harvey's handy horse, Chidiac, back on December 10. Failed here the next time, spelled, and has come back and trialled very well indeed. The Per Incanto breed only get better as time goes by and she might be one that has and will. TAPAGAL (14) is an epic blue blood being by Capitalist out of Fast And Sexy. Trials have been OK to varying degrees. Will get every chance from barrier three and Winona Costin riding.
BET: REAL MAGIC to win.
RACE 6: F&M BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP (1200m)
GOT THE SMARTS (3) is an above average mare with a record of one win, three seconds and a third from her nine starts. One thing we know about her is that she has a powerful finish and that she has been dealt some pretty ordinary draws in her time. Has talent beyond country racing. ALL TOO WILD (2) is the logical danger, perhaps even the one to beat if she comes. That's a big if. Five-year-old mare TROIS (6) was impressive winning her debut at Tamworth on July 18.
BET: GOT THE SMARTS to win.
VALENTINO PRINCE (14) is dropping back to country grade after a long stretch of most unsuccessful runs at the provincials. That said, he doesn't run too many really bad or poor races, he could still bob up and win one at Newcastle or wherever but for now, it does seem like a good idea to drop him in class and build up some confidence. OAKFIELD PLUTO (10) won on debut with Aaron Bullock on from gate two. Bullock on again, only this time it is barrier 3.
BET: VALENTINO PRINCE each-way, box quinella 2, 4, 10, 14.
VEECEE (4) could be in Sydney for the Highway on Saturday but maybe the heavy rain will keep him at home and he runs here instead. That's not to say he is a duffer, time will tell. If he is absent, Veecee's jockey Luke Rolls might win the race anyway via Tony Ball's pretty reliable gelding TELEGRAPH (8). The now seven-year-old has a decent set of numbers right across the board, including a track/trip record of one win and two thirds from five goes.

Mitchell Moses unleashes on Parramatta teammate in fiery outburst
Parramatta Eels skipper Mitchell Moses was caught delivering an explosive outburst in the direction of his own teammate. With the scores tied up at 18-all and a little over 10 minutes left on the clock, Moses' frustrations well and truly boiled over with Tallyn Da Silva. FOX LEAGUE, available on Kayo Sports, is the only place to watch every game of every round in the 2025 NRL Telstra Premiership, LIVE with no ad-breaks during play. New to Kayo? Join now and get your first month for just $1. After the fifth tackle and with the Eels only metres away from the line, Da Silva elected to try and pierce through the line instead of using his playmakers. The decision from the 20-year-old left multiple teammates throwing their arms in the arm and had the commentary crew in disbelief. 'Tallyn Da Silva what are you doing?' Andrew Voss said on Fox League. 'He doesn't use his playmakers and the ball is turned over on the line.' Michael Ennis added: 'He'll get a conversation from Moses when they get back in the sheds. It's one of the lessons you learn as a young dummy half, in those field positions … you find your number 7.' Moses however took things one step further. The skipper was caught on camera giving the youngster an extraordinary spray which appeared to those watching on to be along the lines of: 'Tallyn you f***ing c***.' Watch the explosive outburst in the video player above Moses was asked about the heated incident shortly after the Eels secured the 19-18 victory by Bryan Fletcher on the Sunday Night with Matty Johns show. 'Yeah it happens on the field … was a tense game,' Moses said. 'We'll learn a lot of lessons from that I think. We've got a really young squad at the moment and it's better to learn the lessons winning the game than having a loss.' Moses' fiery moment was overshadowed by fresh trainer drama that unfolded late in the contest. The incident occurred when a North Queensland official come onto the field as the team attempted to carry the ball out of its own end. On just the first tackle of a new set following a long range bomb by Mitchell Moses, the Cowboys threw the Steeden into a trainer with Eels speedster Josh Addo-Carr lurking near the ball. The drama unfolded after Braidon Burns passed the ball behind Semi Valemei with the ball then rolling on to hit the Cowboys trainer in the leg. Cowboys winger Jaxon Purdue then dived on the loose ball to surrender as Eels players immediately protested with referee Liam Kennedy. It is possible Addo-Carr could have got to the ball first if not for the trainer — and the former Melbourne Storm winger may also have had an opportunity to tackle Purdue in-goal. Voss, speaking on Fox League, immediately called for NRL supremo Peter V'landys to take action. 'Seriously is there any need for a trainer to be out there so early in a set? What are we doing? Peter V'landys you've got work to do,' he said. He went on to say: 'That's unbelievable.' Former Bulldogs captain Michael Ennis jokingly called it 'Trainergate 2.0'. It was ruled a mutual infringement, and the Cowboys regained possession of the ball.

Maligned star's white-hot form continues as Dogs survive game of the season
The Western Bulldogs have survived an almighty scare that could well have ended their finals aspirations, defeating a valiant Melbourne outfit by one goal on Sunday afternoon. In one of the games of the season, a six-goal spree from the Demons in the third quarter at one stage looked like leaving the Dogs' finals fate out of their hands — but Luke Beveridge's side rallied late to win 15.15 (105) to the Demons' 15.9 (99). FOX FOOTY, available on Kayo Sports, is the only place to watch every match of every round in the 2025 Toyota AFL Premiership Season LIVE in 4K, with no ad-breaks during play. New to Kayo? Join now and get your first month for just $1. Star Aaron Naughton starred up forward again with his fourth bag of five goals or more in six weeks, including a critical final quarter major to give his side a mini buffer. Forward-turned-defender Daniel Turner snagged a goal with 52 seconds remaining to give the Demons a live chance of drawing the match, but a Sam Darcy mark back-with-the-flight all but sealed their fate. 'No one deserves to lose this match,' 1988 Brownlow Medalist Gerard Healy said on Fox Footy inside the final minute. Laitham Vandermeer was concerningly taken from the ground after a heavy collision during the final quarter, leaving the Bulldogs vulnerable after already making their substitute before three-quarter time. DOGS AVOID ULTIMATE FINALS HEARTBREAK AS 'ALL-AUSTRALIAN'-BOUND STAR LEADS CHARGE If there was one round the Bulldogs didn't want to come up against a side whose coach had been sacked, it was this one. The record of such club's immediately after a changing of the guard is stark, leaving Luke Beveridge's side in some ways up against it before the first bounce was even had. It was a tussle between both sides across the first half, but the Bulldogs looked content in registering five more shots on goal than their opponents to hold a 10-point lead at the main break. The supremely stunning season of Ed Richards headlined the match early, as the 26-year-old once again put his name forward for higher honours. The defender-turned-midfielder blew the game apart on Sunday afternoon, amassing 20 disposals, eight score involvements, six clearances and 92 ranking points all before half time. 'The bloke that's led the charge right from the word 'go' has been Ed Richards — who's got to be an All-Australian this year,' 1988 Brownlow Medal winner Gerard Healy said to Fox Footy at half time. 'He's just been so clean. He had five clearances at quarter time … (and) absolutely makes the right decisions. 'He's turned himself (from) one of the best ground ball players in defensive 50, to one of the elite midfielders in the competition.' But after half time, Beveridge's Bulldogs were fronted with a wave of Melbourne's best free-flowing football — a brand that fans, and recently departed coach Simon Goodwin, have been crying out for most of this season. Incredibly, 21 of the match's 30 goals came after half time to speak to the change in style from both clubs. The Demons were able to force a 31-point turnaround in less than a quarter to turn the game — and the Dogs' finals hopes — on their head. But alas, the cool heads at Whitten Oval made sure their charge to September will last another week, with six final quarter goals enough to undo all of Melbourne's hard work. Veteran star Tom Liberatore finished the match with 24 disposals and 12 clearances, while skipper Marcus Bontempelli notched up 33 touches, seven inside 50s and 685 metres gained. 'PAYING DIVIDENDS': STAR'S WHITE-HOT RUN CONTINUES TO SEE DOGS HOME Jeremy Cameron has stolen the headlines this season up forward amid his race for 100 goals in a season, but the last six weeks was truly been all about Aaron Naughton. The Bulldogs key forward has gone berserk in the last six weeks, with his four-goal haul on Sunday afternoon taking his tally in the last six games to 29 — inclusive of three five-goal hauls and a career-best bag of seven. His meteoric rise in form coincides well with the return of Sam Darcy from injury, leaving Naughton playing on each side's second key defender; allowing him to expose the opposition both aerially and leading up at the ball carrier. "How did that not get paid?" Was Aaron Naughton unlucky here? ðŸ'° Watch #AFLDeesDogs on Ch.503 or stream on Kayo: âœï¸ BLOG ðŸ'¢ MATCH CENTRE — Fox Footy (@FOXFOOTY) August 10, 2025 'I'm just trying to get to as many contest as possible (and) work really hard,' Naughton told Fox Footy straight after the final siren. 'The more that you get to the footy, the more that things can happen. I'm just happy with the way that I'm finishing in front of goal now, I'm really confident with my routine and it's paying dividends. 'I knew I put in the work, so I knew it (my form) was going to change eventually.' Three-time Geelong premiership player Tom Hawkins added on Naughton post-game: 'His willingness to get involved in the contest ... it's the work he does off the ball.' 'For any young forward out there listening, that is wonderful advice for anyone coming through the ranks. He was a star today.' DEES DEFENDER DEALT TOUGH TASK... BUT STILL SHOWS PROMISING SIGNS In an era where star key defenders have been few and far between at the top level, Melbourne debutant Jed Adams drew plenty of praise amid a daunting task. Adams, who is at the back end of his third year on the Demons' list, had to bide his time in the VFL with Casey for 51 games before getting an opportunity at the top level. The 21-year-old was forced to runt he gauntlet straight away, at times playing on Aaron Naughton who ran amuck for his fourth bag in six weeks. But in between opponents, Adams showed promise aerially and one-on-one to hint at the next generation for Melbourne beyond Jake Lever and Steven May. 'Hasn't he started well! He hasn't had a lot of ball himself … but he looks comfortable. He's a big unit and looks mobile,' Gerard Healy said of Adams at the start of the third term. Tom Hawkins added: 'I like the way that he's backed himself in. Early on, we saw a nice one-on-one contest that he halved … he's been really impressive.'
