PLAYSTATION users have just hours left to earn free credit, as a major service is closing down.
Earlier this year, Sony announced plans to axe its loyalty scheme, PlayStation Stars, which gives users free store credit for making purchases and completing campaigns and activities.

The scheme only launched back in 2022, but it will be shut down on Wednesday, July 23, after which point, gamers will no longer be able to earn points or join campaigns.
Thankfully, the points don't expire yet, and PlayStation users have until November 2nd 2026, to redeem them, and use them on new purchases.
However, PlayStation Stars is no longer accepting new memberships, so only those who are already signed up will be able to take advantage of the final days of earning points.
Announcing the closure back in May, Sony said: "At Sony Interactive, we're always experimenting with new and exciting ways to bring our community of players together to share the joys of gaming and create lasting memories.
"That's why three years ago, we created PlayStation Stars, a loyalty program to celebrate our players. The unique program includes playing games to earn rewards – including our unique Digital Collectibles that pay homage to incredible games and our PlayStation legacy.
"The program has helped foster a deeper connection with fans around the world.
"Since launching the program, we've learned a lot from evaluating the types of activities our players respond best to, and as a company, we are always evolving with player and industry trends.
"Through this evaluation, we have decided to refocus our efforts and will be winding down the current version of PlayStation Stars.
"We will continue to evaluate our key findings from this program, and are looking into ways to build upon these learnings."
This comes as PlayStation fans are set to receive eight games worth £300 free of charge.

PlayStation Plus allows subscribers to its service the opportunity to try out exciting new games every month.
And throughout July, players have sweeping access to eight fresh releases.
These include Cyberpunk 2077 - an open-world, action-adventure role-playing game set in the dark future of Night City.
Abiotic Factor is also on the shortlist, where up to six players must join forces to survive the depths of an underground research facility.
PlayStation releases – what's the history?
Here's what you need to know... The original PlayStation launched in Europe in 1995
This was followed by the PlayStation 2 in the year 2000
The PlayStation 3 arrived over half a decade later, in 2006
Then gamers had to wait a further seven years for 2013's PS4 launch
Sony released the PS5 in November 2020
For kids, Bluey: The Videogame is a welcome addition to the line up and is based on the popular children's television series of the same name.
Other games on the July roster include management simulation game Planet Zoo, Risk of Rain 2, Tropico 6 and New World: Aeternum.

I took a risk & ordered extensions on Shein for half the price… my hair is healthier than ever & they lasted NINE months

Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) A BEAUTY fan has revealed that she took a risk and ordered hair extensions from Shein. Much to her surprise, Kim Fegan Hutchinson was left overjoyed when her Shein purchases arrived and now, nine months later, she is still beaming. Eager to share her honest thoughts on the affordable extensions, Kim, who works in Tesco, took to social media to give her followers a close-up look at her luscious locks, leaving many totally stunned. In the short clip, Kim sat in her car and ran her fingers through her hair, as she penned: 'Update on the Shein tape extensions just because I'm getting new hair put in next week. 'The hair is nine months old and I could easily get 12 months plus from them.' Not only have the extensions, which cost her £80 in total, lasted for months, but even better, they haven't caused any damage to her real hair. She continued: 'My own hair is healthier than ever. 'The best £80 I've ever spent on Shein.' Kim later confirmed that she used three packs of the 9AM hair extensions, in the shade S4. Not only are they great quality, but they're much cheaper than many of the other alternatives on the market. Prices of hair extensions vary largely on the amount and length you decide to have, but Kim's are half the price of average human hair tape extensions, which typically cost around £125 to £150. Ugly side of fashion giant Shein revealed as retailer slammed by rivals for 'unfair tactics' to keep prices low Prior to buying her hair extensions from Shein, Kim splashed the cash on a really posh pair, which on reflection, don't compare to these, as the beauty fan beamed: 'They are way better than my previous ones that I paid £300+ for.' Beauty fans beam The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @kimfeganhutchinso, has clearly left many stunned, as in just five days, it has quickly racked up 480,700 views. Not only this, but it's also amassed 16,100 likes, 228 comments and 3,045 saves. With these I have very little hair is so much healthier Kim Fegan Hutchinson Social media users were gobsmacked by the purse-friendly hair extensions and eagerly raced to the comments to express this. One person said: 'They look amazing.' Another added: 'Ah making me excited, just ordered some.' A third commented: 'Look great! Can you curl as you normally would with professional extensions?' To this, Kim replied and confirmed: 'Yes they curl and straighten lovely.' What is Shein and is it legit? Shein is an online-only fast-fashion retailer, based out of China, that has become a number one shopping destination for many around the world. The company was valued at $66billion in 2023, dwarfing that of popular high street brands Zara and H&M. The fashion retailer was founded in late 2008, by entrepreneur and marketing specialist Xu Yangtian, also known as Chris Xu. Shein is a legitimate selling website and is not a phishing scam. But you may receive a disappointing order or run into shipping issues if you order from the site, according to reviews. There have been swathes of quality complaints, which makes sense when looking at the price tag. At the same time, someone else asked: 'Does it damage your hair? I'm thinking of doing extensions but just worried it'll thin it.' In response, Kim explained: 'With these I have very little shedding and because I'm not washing, drying, applying heat etc as often as I would have done without them in, my hair is so much healthier.' And it's not just Kim who is a huge fan of these Shein hair extensions - as many other beauty enthusiasts also shared their rave reviews. One user penned: 'I am wearing 9AM S4 and I get soooo many compliments. Best hair ever.' A second agreed: 'I swear by 9AM. I've tried different types in the same price bracket on Shein and I'll always go back to them and the colour match is brilliant.' Whilst another claimed: 'Been using the 9AM red hair extensions since July last year!!' Unlock even more award-winning articles as The Sun launches brand new membership programme - Sun Club

Mermaid Cottage, the striking 1920s Art Deco house in St Margaret's Bay, Kent, was once owned by both Bond creator Ian Fleming and legendary playwright Noel Coward. Fleming is believed to have written part of Moonraker at the property between 1951 and 1957, taking inspiration from the surrounding cliffs and coastline for the novel's dramatic setting. Its villain, Hugo Drax, constructs his deadly Moonraker rocket just outside Dover, near Deal. Coward had owned the house previously and renamed it 'White Cliffs' after restoring it following wartime damage by British and Canadian troops preparing for D-Day. He spent around £2,000 reinforcing the chalk cliffs and reportedly found his love of painting during his years there, according to Dover Museum. The house passed to Fleming in 1951, becoming his weekend and holiday escape. It remained in private hands until 2008, when current owner Mark Sawyer spotted it during a visit to Kent with his then-partner. The 56-year-old, who works in private equity, first glimpsed the village while swimming the Channel in a team relay: 'I distinctly remember the captain of the boat saying, 'There's St Margarets, it's a really pretty village'. I saw it from the water for the first time.' Although the house wasn't officially on the market, the couple fell in love with it and persuaded the estate agent to take it off the books immediately with a £20,000 deposit. They bought it for £800,000 and have since spent around £1million on renovations, including buying land to extend the garden. James Bond expert drops huge hint about new 007 actor after he starred in movie with huge A-list actress 'I'm a massive Bond fan. For me that was the cherry on the cake,' Sawyer said. 'Most people say when we're down there: squint and you could be in the Mediterranean,' he added. 'In the winter, the bay is so much quieter. "You sit there with the log-burning stove roaring with a storm blowing outside. 7 A JAMES Bond superfan who snapped up Ian Fleming's former seaside home for less than £1million Credit: Rex "You're immersed in nature. 7 After nearly two decades in Mermaid Cottage, Mark Sawyer is selling his Bond-worthy home "The only land you can see from our living room is France.' His partner Lara Jewitt, a Chelsea Flower Show gold medallist, helped design the garden, which echoes the style of Derek Jarman's Prospect Cottage. The couple bought land from the council in 2014 to create it, but soon ran out of space. 'We developed every square inch down there, and we just wanted a bit more room,' Sawyer said. 'I never thought I would sell it, to be honest with you. It has three bedrooms, and that is too small to have both of my children back, potentially in the future with their partners, and my family to stay.' Not everyone is pleased about the decision. 'My daughter is still not talking to me since I told her I am selling it,' he admitted. 'She'll get over it eventually.' Strutt & Parker, who are handling the sale, describe Mermaid Cottage as a 'breathtaking location' with a 'rich history of famous connections.' 7 They bought it for £800,000 and have since spent around £1million on renovations, including buying land to extend the garden Credit: Strutt & Parker

Nintendo Switch 2 beats PS4 and PS5 as fastest-selling console ever

The Nintendo Switch 2 continues to break records around the world, as Xbox's Forza Horizon 5 makes a big splash on PS5. We already knew the Nintendo Switch 2 was the fastest-selling console ever worldwide, with 3.5 million units sold within its first four days, but we now have a better picture of its success in the US. According to Circana's Mat Piscatella, an analyst specialising in US video game sales, the Switch 2 debuted as the fastest-selling games hardwre in US history, leading to record high consumer spending for the month of June, across video game hardware and accessories. The Switch 2 sold 1.6 million units in June, following its launch on June 5, which is the highest launch month unit sales for a piece of video game hardware ever in the US. Despite the fact that June is usually a very quiet month for video game sales and a very unusual time to launch a new console. According to Piscatella, the record was previously held by Sony's PlayStation 4, which sold 1.1 million units when it launched in November 2013. However, the PlayStation 5 was reported to have beaten this figure when it launched in 2020, selling between 1.1 million and 1.3 million units, but either way, Sony has been knocked down a peg. Although, that's rookie numbers compared to Japan, where the Switch 2 outsold the Switch 1 by 300% and achieved the same record as in the US, of becoming the fastest-selling console ever, by beating the PlayStation 2. Unsurprisingly, the Switch 2 was the best-selling video game hardware in both units and dollar sales, in June in the US, but the PlayStation 5 is still the best-selling console of the year so far, across both measures. Sign up to the GameCentral newsletter for a unique take on the week in gaming, alongside the latest reviews and more. Delivered to your inbox every Saturday morning. As for the June game charts, Elden Ring Nightreign maintained the top spot for a second month. Death Stranding 2: On The Beach was the highest new entry at number two, while Mario Kart World debuted at number three. It's worth noting that the latter is only physical sales and doesn't include digital sales or hardware bundles – so it is certainly number one in reality. Another notable point is the success of Forza Horizon 5 on PlayStation 5, which is placed sixth behind Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Stellar Blade on the US sales chart (the latter received a bump following its PC launch). More Trending According to the Alinea Insight newsletter, which has tracked total sales between January 1 and July 21, 2025, Xbox title Forza Horizon 5 has surpassed three million copies sold on PlayStation 5 in less than three months, after its release in April. Within 25 days of its launch on PlayStation 5, Forza Horizon 5 sold a massive two million copies on the console. For comparison, it took Astro Bot roughly three months to hit the same figure, while Death Stranding 2 sold one million copies within 25 days. By crossing the three million mark, Forza Horizon 5 has surpassed Monster Hunter Wilds (2.9 million) as the best-selling new game on PlayStation 5 in 2025, which will probably come as a surprise to both Sony and Microsoft, especially as it originally came out nearly four years ago. This will likely only reinforce Microsoft's push to multiplatform releases, with Gears Of War: Reloaded set to launch August 26 across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 is also set to hit Sony's console on August 12, with rumours of Starfield and Halo jumping ship next. Email gamecentral@ leave a comment below, follow us on Twitter.
