Grant Sputore ('I Am Mother') is directing the sixth Monsterverse film set to hit theaters on May 26, 2027. 'Shang-Chi' writer David Callaham along with 'I Am Mother' writer Michael Lloyd Green wrote the current draft of the script.
The film stars Dan Stevens, Kaitlyn Dever, Jack O'Connell, Alycia Debnam-Carey, Sam Neill, Matthew Modine and Delroy Lindo.
The franchise continues to draw global audiences with 2024's 'Godzilla x Kong' becoming its highest-grossing installment and the highest-grossing 'Godzilla' film of all time. The next entry will feature several new human characters alongside the beloved and iconic Titans Godzilla and Kong as they face off against a cataclysmic world-ending threat.
A brief teaser video was also released.
Ten years strong, Legendary's Monsterverse is an expansive cross-platform story universe centering around humanity's battle to survive in a world facing a catastrophic new reality – the monsters of our myths and legends being real. Beginning with 'Godzilla' in 2014 and continuing through 2017's 'Kong: Skull Island,' 2019's 'Godzilla: King of the Monsters,' 2021's 'Godzilla vs. Kong' and, most recently, the record-breaking 'Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire,' the Monsterverse has accumulated over $2.5 billion at the global box office and expanded into the highly successful event series 'Monarch: Legacy of Monsters' for Apple TV+.

THE BATMAN PART 2 Finally Begins Filming in Spring 2026
It's been a long road for The Batman—Part II. Robert Pattinson and Matt Reeves first The Batman movie hit screens in 2022. And the movie was immensely popular. But now, three years later, we have only seen bare whispers of the movie's second installment. But happily, it looks like things are finally on the move for The Batman—Part II. In a Warner Bros. Discovery's shareholder letter, the company revealed that The Batman—Part II was eyeing spring 2026 as its official filming start. Here's what the letter said in full. Warner Bros. Discovery wrote of The Batman—Part 2 and other DCU movies: In film, James Gunn is busy preparing the next installments of the DC super family, including 'Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow' (2026), 'Clayface' (2026) and the next 'Wonder Woman.' In addition, 'The Batman II' (2027) is preparing to begin shooting next spring, among several other projects in development. The 10-year vision for the DC universe also includes an exciting array of television projects, including 'The Penguin,' the upcoming new season of 'Peacemaker,' and the debut of 'Lanterns' in 2026. In a precise and measured way, the DC franchise will increasingly overlay across the studio's broader efforts: from film and TV to consumer products, games, experiences and social. Did you catch that 'The Batman II (2027) is preparing to begin shooting next spring.' That is major progress for the movie, considering it didn't even have a script just months ago. Matt Reeves FINALLY finished The Batman—Part II's script in mid-July. But James Gunn warned fans to be nice to Reeves and let him work on his own schedule. Gunn noted, 'I am irritated by people. I mean, it's just that thing people don't need to be entitled about. It's going to come out when he feels good about the screenplay. And Matt's not going to give me the screenplay until he feels good about the screenplay.' We guess that means The Batman—Part II's screenplay is finally good. RELATED ARTICLE DC 'Elseworlds' Projects Will House Standalone Movie and TV Series A little earlier in the year, The Batman—Part II star Robert Pattinson worried about having to play 'an old Batman.' But it sounds like he won't have to wait much longer. The Batman – Part II will release on October 1, 2027. And we'll keep our fingers crossed that the DC Elseworlds sequel movie really will start to film sooner rather than later. We'd hate for Reeves, Pattinson, and the fans to wait much longer to create more of The Batman's world. And if The Batman—Part II does start to film in spring of 2026, it will mean a trailer and first-look images are right around the corner. Solve the daily Crossword

Dean Cain, former TV Superman, will be sworn in as honorary ICE officer
Advertisement Cain has in the past decade been outspoken in his conservative viewpoints and endorsed Trump in three elections. A representative for Cain did not respond to request for comment Thursday. McLaughlin referenced Cain's titular role in 'Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman,' which ran from 1993 to 1997, in her statement, saying in her statement that 'Superman is encouraging Americans to become real-life superheroes.' Warner Bros., which released a new 'Superman' last month, didn't immediately respond to a request for comment. The film, which has made over $550 million and stars David Corenswet, became a hot-button topic with right-wing commentators who criticized the movie as 'woke' after director James Gunn referred to the character as being like an 'immigrant.' James Gunn to Write & Direct Next DCU ‘Super-Family' Movie
Before the DCU kicked off, James Gunn promised he wouldn't be writing and directing everything. How could he? But he did write and direct the DCU's first entry Superman to great success. And now it seems like, Gunn might be on the hook for writing and directing franchise enteries that have to do with the Man of Steel himself. Gunn recently teased that he was already working on Superman's next big movie entry into the DCU. But was quick to clarify it wasn't a direct Superman sequel, but something else that involved the beloved character. Now, we have no more clarity on the contents of the project, but we know Gunn will also direct the movie. Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav confirmed in an earnings call that James Gunn would write and direct the 'next movie in the Super-Family' collection for the DCU. Yep, that's all that was said of Gunn's next project for the DCU, that it would be the 'next movie in the Super-Family.' We're not totally sure that's a complete thought, but it does hint that Superman and Supergirl will be involved. Maybe some other members of the 'Super-Family' that we haven't met yet will also appear in the DCU? There's always Superboy… That's Lex Luthor and Superman's son…well, a product of their combined DNA, anyway. That makes him their son, right? That's a Super-Family that we'd like to see James Gunn explore. But, we digress. In any case, we probably won't know too much more for a while. RELATED ARTICLE James Gunn Confirms He's Currently Writing the SUPERMAN Sequel, But It's Not 'SUPERMAN 2' Next up for the DCU is season two of Peacemaker, then Supergirl, and a Lanterns TV series. A Clayface movie is also in the works. But, we suppose with the success of Superman, the DCU and Warner Bros. Discovery would love to see David Corenswet's hero again soon. We'll just have to wait and see what exactly James Gunn's next 'Super-Family' movie will be about—but if Gunn writes and directs it, we bet we won't will disappointed when we see it.
