‘Godzilla x Kong' Sequel Sets ‘Supernova' Title as Production Commences
Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros. have officially announced the title of the sixth Monsterverse movie 'Godzilla x Kong: Supernova,' as production has kicked off in Queensland, Australia, the companies announced on Friday.
Grant Sputore ('I Am Mother') is directing the sixth Monsterverse film set to hit theaters on May 26, 2027. 'Shang-Chi' writer David Callaham along with 'I Am Mother' writer Michael Lloyd Green wrote the current draft of the script.
The film stars Dan Stevens, Kaitlyn Dever, Jack O'Connell, Alycia Debnam-Carey, Sam Neill, Matthew Modine and Delroy Lindo.
The franchise continues to draw global audiences with 2024's 'Godzilla x Kong' becoming its highest-grossing installment and the highest-grossing 'Godzilla' film of all time. The next entry will feature several new human characters alongside the beloved and iconic Titans Godzilla and Kong as they face off against a cataclysmic world-ending threat.
A brief teaser video was also released.
Ten years strong, Legendary's Monsterverse is an expansive cross-platform story universe centering around humanity's battle to survive in a world facing a catastrophic new reality – the monsters of our myths and legends being real. Beginning with 'Godzilla' in 2014 and continuing through 2017's 'Kong: Skull Island,' 2019's 'Godzilla: King of the Monsters,' 2021's 'Godzilla vs. Kong' and, most recently, the record-breaking 'Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire,' the Monsterverse has accumulated over $2.5 billion at the global box office and expanded into the highly successful event series 'Monarch: Legacy of Monsters' for Apple TV+.

Gavin Newsom Meets Privately With Trump Ambassador Jon Voight in LA
Gov. Gavin Newsom and Jon Voight, one of President Donald Trump's three Hollywood ambassadors, met in Century City on Thursday to discuss the actor's 'Make Hollywood Great Again' proposal. A Newsom aide and a representative for Voight confirmed the meeting to Politico. 'They shared a commitment to working together to help to build up the film industry in the U.S. — particularly California and Los Angeles,' the outlet reported. Former Warner Bros. executive DeeDee Myers, who is director of the Governor's Office of Business and Economic Development, was also present. The meeting came as California's $750 million film tax credit plan remains in the air as state budget cuts have weighed down the process. The pair of California Film & TV Jobs Act bills passed their first floor votes in Sacramento this week, though it's unclear if Trump's tariffs and/or Los Angeles wildfire recovery efforts could impact the outcome. If successful, the bills would expand the types of productions that are eligible for tax incentives, offer a 35% tax rate to L.A.-based productions and increase the program's cap from $330 million to $750 million. Newsom also previously suggested a $7.5 billion film and TV national tax incentive program last month. 'The governor is fully committed to this proposed $750 million investment in California's film and television industry, which will protect good-paying jobs and support the workers who power the state's creative economy,' a spokesperson for Newsom said in a statement. The Oscar-winning actor's May proposal includes a carrot-and-stick approach, mixing tax incentives, foreign film tariffs and co-production treaties to encourage U.S. movie production. Mel Gibson and Sylvester Stallone are Trump's other two Hollywood ambassadors. TheWrap has reached out to Newsom and Voight's teams for further comment. Colleen Hoover's ‘Reminders Of Him' Moves Ahead Of Margot Robbie & Jacob Elordi's ‘Wuthering Heights' In Pre-Valentine's Day 2026 Frame
Universal is positioning its Valentine's Day entry Colleen Hoover's Reminders of Him, in just the right place, moving the Vanessa Caswill directed movie from Feb. 13, 2026 to Feb. 6. That's ahead of another female skewing film for the frame, Warner Bros' Wuthering Heights starring Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi from filmmaker Emerald Fennell. Reminders of Him stars Maika Monroe, Lauren Graham, Bradley Whitford, Lainey Wilson and Nicholas Duvernay. The source material was a No. 1 New York Times bestselling tome about motherhood, forgiveness and the power of one love to heal even the most shattered heart. First published in 2022, Reminders of Him has sold more than 6 million copies in the United States and has been translated into 45 languages. The feature take of Hoover's It Ends With Us was a surprise box office sensation last summer grossing over $351M and netting $207M after all global ancillaries and expenses. In the wake of the success of that Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively movie, Hollywood jumped on the Hoover bandwagon much like they did with authors such as Stephen King in the 1980s and John Grisham in the 1990s. Reminders of Him will share the Feb. 6-8 weekend next year with the Angel Studios' comedy Solo Mio. Left on Valentine's Day weekend with Wuthering Heights is an untitled NEON horror movie, the Sony Animation feature Goat and the Chris Hemsworth-Barry Keoghan Amazon MGM Studios movie Crime 101.
