Ruth Langsford 'fights to keep £3.6m mansion' and finally ditches wedding ring

Daily Record20-07-2025
The Loose Women star has reportedly ditched her wedding ring after splitting from Eamonn Holmes last year.
Ruth Langsford has been spotted without her wedding ring for the first time since splitting from Eamonn Holmes. The former power couple's shock break-up was announced last May, and a source tells OK! that ditching the ring after so long was a 'no turning back' decision for Ruth.

The source close to the star said: 'Removing that ring might have been a shock to fans, after she's worn it for so long. But it was the final bit of closure. It was a message to Eamonn and symbolic that Ruth's marriage and that chapter of her life is over.

"She's closing the door on her past for good. 'Taking it off is Ruth saying, 'I've moved on, it's all behind me.' She's just desperate to get this divorce out of the way, now. There's no turning back.'

Ruth posted an Instagram video recently which showed her happily prepping one of her 'favourite summer dishes' – a 'colourful, no-cook salad'. It's not the first time Ruth – now locked in a divorce battle with GB News presenter Eamonn – has shared her love of cooking on social media, but it's the first time she's done so having quietly removed her wedding ring.
It comes after Eamonn, who is battling serious health issues, was seen using a walking frame at a glitzy night out in London with girlfriend Katie Alexander, 43, on his arm. The pair were attending fellow GB News star Nana Akua's party as Nana celebrated her engagement to fiancé Stephen Gillen at London's swanky Blue Marlin Club.

Ruth has stayed mostly silent on the celebrity split.
However, ditching her wedding ring could be the biggest sign yet that she's over her husband, along with the wild nights out she has enjoyed with showbiz pals such as Rylan Clark and Lizzie Cundy, as documented on social media.
Ruth did address the break-up on Instagram last September when a fan posed a question in response to a video she had posted, which showed her sharing how to make a healthy drink, reports the Mirror.

'Why has she still got her wedding rings on?' the fan asked, to which Ruth fired back, 'Because I'm still married.' She then added two crying with laughter emojis to make sure the fan knew she was keeping her sense of humour about the pointed question. Meanwhile, the former couple's divorce battle rumbles on.
Ruth had previously hired a top divorce lawyer, and it's believed she has been fighting to ensure she can keep their £3.6 million six-bedroom home in Surrey.

Back in May, counsellor Katie had her own 'ring-gate' moment, when she took to social media to shut down rumours that she and Eamonn were engaged, after followers spotted what they thought was an engagement ring on her finger in a snap with former This Morning host Eamonn.
Katie said: 'Before anyone jumps to the #ringgate bandwagon, the camera is reversed so... RightHandRingFinger!'
Meanwhile, whether Eamonn takes the next step with Katie or not, our source claims that Ruth is focused on the future.

They said: 'As all her friends are saying, Ruth has never looked or felt better. She's rested, she's looking great, she's enjoying her Pilates sessions and life is good.'
The source adds, 'Ruth is literally living her best life. She knows Eamonn is happy with Katie and she's really not bothered about what his future plans are.
'She's putting everything into looking after herself and her career right now, which she loves. The only thing holding her back is the divorce – it's going on way too long and she just wants it to be over so she can get on with her life.'

All the signs Cat Deeley and Patrick Kielty had split as they announce shock separation after 12 years of marriage

After 12 years of marriage, Cat Deeley and Patrick Kielty announced they were separating on Tuesday. But while the shock announcement was a surprise to fans, there were subtle signs that the former couple were on the rocks. Confirming their split in a joint statement, they said: 'We have taken the decision to end our marriage and are now separated. There is no other party involved. 'We will continue to be united as loving parents to our children and would therefore kindly ask for our family privacy to be respected. There will be no further comment.' Cat and Patrick first met in 2002 while they hosted BBC talent show Fame Academy, however sparks didn't fly between the couple until 10 years later. After being friends for years, their friendship turned to romance thanks to his major gesture when he flew all the way from Belfast to Los Angeles for brunch with Cat. One of the signs that their relationship wasn't rock solid, was that Cat notably did not attend Patrick's mother Mary's funeral back in March. It was reported that she stayed home in order to support their two young children, Milo, nine, and James, seven, who were suffering the loss of their grandmother. Patrick, 54, looked bereft as he carried Mary's coffin through his home village, where he was joined by close family and friends at the Church of the Sacred Heart. A spokesperson for Cat told Daily Mail at the time: 'Cat remained at home to be there for her two young children before and after school on this very sad day.' Patrick's mother, who was in her 80s, passed away at her home in the village of Dundrum on Saturday. A death notice said Mary 'will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her entire family circle, neighbours and friends.' And the couple's social media was another telling sign of their impending split. While he may be less active than Cat, Patrick's last post about her was back in February 2024 when she landed the This Morning job. He wrote at the time: 'I didn't know what a morning person actually was until I met this woman. She gets up every day with a smile on her face. A 5.30am, whistling in the shower, smile on her face. Then downs two coffees, and gives you the look. The "what the f*€K's wrong with you, let's do this" look. 'It's not a pretend smile. And it's not just some mornings. It's every morning. Which is bloody difficult cos she's married to me. I should also mention she likes a chat. To anyone. About anything. Anywhere. 'If there's anyone in the world made for a show called @thismorning, it's this human. Strap yourself in @benshephardofficial And welcome to my world. We couldn't be prouder of you @catdeeley Go get 'em Mama ! ❤️.' Meanwhile Patrick hasn't featured on Cat's Instagram since the same day as his gushing This Morning tribute when she reposted it, despite the fact that she shares social media posts on a more than weekly basis. Another sign of trouble between the pair was a lack of public appearances in the last year. Pictures showed the pair enjoying a summer holiday to St Tropez last August, where they looked in high spirits. But their last red carpet appearance together was as far back as September 18, 2023, when they attended the Ballywalter London premiere at The May Fair Hotel. And a month before they looked loved-up at the launch of fragrance brand e11even founded by Cat and Amanda Grossman. This came just two months after they attended the Irish Film and Television Academy (IFTA) Awards together in May 2023. Back in 2024 Patrick opened up about the tricky times the couple had faced balancing their careers as both juggle parenting and hosting TV shows. Prior to her job at This Morning, Cat was the host of So You Think You Can Dance over in the US. Speaking about a period during Christmas 2023, Patrick told The Times: 'There was a moment after Christmas that was tricky. 'She had to fly to Atlanta for seven weeks. There was a wee bit of a juggle there. But I think with all these things, as long as you have a routine, it doesn't take as much fizz out of you as some people think.' Discussing how things have changed since her move to This Morning he added: 'Because Cat's doing her stuff in the morning, she would normally be back just after lunchtime. And we've got the start of the week and the weekends together, so it's not "Hi/bye".' The former couple are estimated to be worth approximately £11million with Cat believed to be on around £600,000 per year to host This Morning. Patrick, on the other hand, was given a three-year, £216,000 contract to host 30 episodes of the Late Late Show, after he took over from Ryan Tubridy. Meanwhile last year Cat stunned ITV viewers when she made a shock bedroom confession on This Morning. She and her co-host Ben Shephard were discussing whether separate rooms are the key to a happy marriage alongside Linda Lusardi and married couple Emma and Kevin - who choose to sleep in separate bedrooms. Speaking about her own bedroom arrangements, Cat revealed her sleeping situation with Patrick. She explained: 'It's one of those things that because of our schedule here [This Morning], from Monday to Thursday I sleep in the guest bedroom and the rest of the time I'm back. 'Because otherwise I get up at 5am and I want to fall asleep earlier.' Previously talking about how they got together Patrick told the Daily Mail: 'Well there had always been a spark between us, but either she was with someone or I was, and then she moved to LA, so opportunities for something to develop were limited. 'Unless someone was stupid enough to get on a plane, nothing would have happened. 'Cat was in LA and I was in Northern Ireland, so I texted her to wish her a happy birthday. 'When she said she was having a birthday lunch at the Beverly Hills Hotel, I said I'd be there. She told me to go to sleep as I was drunk. 'That was 2am. I got up at 5am, went to Belfast airport for 6am, got the 7.15am flight to Heathrow, landed at 8.30am, took off again at 9.40am and arrived in LA at 1.15pm. 'I was at the Beverly Hills Hotel by 2.15pm. When I walked in, Cat looked at me and said: "Oh, you're good!"' They married in a secret, intimate ceremony in Rome in 2012 with their close family and friends present. A wedding photo showed the pair looking blissfully happy as they enjoy a celebratory drink at their wedding reception. The couple lived in California for over 14 years as she presented So You Think You Can Dance but they put their Beverly Hills mansion on the market for $4.9 million (£3.8 million). They moved back to North London in 2020, prior to Cat securing her job at This Morning amid fears of gun violence following an incident in which Patrick had to hide from a gunman in a Los Angeles mall.

Durham Fringe Festival sees record numbers but appeals for sponsors

Durham Fringe Festival organisers have hailed this year's event a success after it attracted another record in its fifth year, last week's performances drew audiences of 8,500 people - an increase of about 1,000 on the previous record-breaking and co-founder Stephen Cronin said the organising team and more than 100 volunteers were "exhausted" as they wrapped up the event but were "doing great".However, he said the grassroots festival had to sustain sponsors and partnerships to keep future ticket prices low, describing local support as "vital". More than 110 performances were put on between 23 and 27 July in around the city centre, including cabaret, theatre, stand-up, music, circus and magic first Fringe in 2021 attracted about 2,250 visitors and it has been growing year on year. Dr Cronin said partnering with local businesses, councils and Durham University had been critical for helping people access the arts, as it helped to keep ticket prices do not pay for the venue or technical support and they receive 70% of ticket income."Those are things we've done from the beginning and they're very precious to us," he said."But that leaves us with the cost of delivering any complex event like this."He said the festival needed to sustain local support going forward."That support from the area is vital to us," he said. The majority of those who volunteered were local to the area, Dr Cronin said while younger volunteers had the opportunity to develop people skills by working front of house, some previous technical volunteers had gone on to build a career in the sector."Sometimes it's just about being together with people who like what you like and you get to meet new people and get to see some amazing things," Dr Cronin said the team would soon move on to planning the 2026 festival."It never stops," he said.
