Celebrity SAS star Rebecca Loos says David Beckham scandal left her battling 'big issue'

Daily Mirror2 days ago
Rebecca Loos was catapulted into the spotlight in 2004 when reports of an 'affair' with former England captain David Beckham emerged
Rebecca Loos says she has been left with a 'big issue' after her explosive affair claims more than two decades ago. The 48-year-old was working as a personal assistant to David Beckham when reports emerged suggesting she was having an "affair" with the footballer.

While the former England captain branded the claims 'ludicrous' it launched Rebecca into the spotlight. She subsequently went on to star in a host of reality TV shows, including Celebrity Love Island and The X Factor: Battle of the Stars.

But Rebecca has now been absent from screens since 2008, when she hosted The Podge and Rodge Show on Irish television. She is however now preparing to make a return on Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins.

She admits her past means she is used to being in the spotlight, although she accepts it has left one lasting impression on her. Speaking to Closer, she said: 'I'm a little bit burnt by what I've been through, so I have a big issue trusting.
'Celeb SAS was a great show for me to come back on because it's quite serious. And the production company has been absolutely fantastic – what they've said the show is going to be and what they said they're going to do, they've done.'

Rebecca describes the survivalist show as 'very honest' and 'very open'. The show sees Rebecca and 13 other celebrities put through their paces as they complete the most challenging special forces selection course out there.
Ahead of the show, Rebecca took part in the Celebrity SAS Mirror Room. There Jason Fox and Chris Oliver questioned her motives for being on the show and asked about the 'affair'.
Rebecca said: 'It felt unjust that my life was pretty hell and his (Beckham's) life kept going and kept blossoming. I've been accused of being a liar. I've had a lifetime of opinions around me, I've definitely developed thick skin.

'I think the public opinion now has softened, at least from what I'm gathering since the documentary came out with the Beckhams a couple of years ago. I think it is now because thanks to social media, there is a whole different following out there, which it's a double-edged sword."
Rebecca's world changed forever in 2003 after David secured a career-defining transfer to Real Madrid. The-then 26-year-old Rebecca was hired to help him settle into his new life in Spain.

In September that year, the pair were pictured leaving a nightclub together and rumours of an affair began to circulate. In 2004, Rebecca sold her story to the News of the World, claiming the pair had been involved for four months.
The Beckhams however denied the affair. In a statement, David said: 'The simple truth is that I am very happily married. I have a wonderful wife and two very special kids.'
David and Victoria never pursued legal action against Rebecca directly, but in 2006, they reached a confidential settlement after filing defamation claims against the News of the World. David has always denied the allegations.
Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins can be streamed or watched live every Sunday and Monday from 9pm on Channel 4, starting tonight (3 August).

David Byrne and Hayley Williams write original songs for Netflix film The Twits

The film adaptation based on the characters from Roald Dahl's book of the same name will feature three original songs – We're Not Like Ev'ryone Else, Lullaby, and The Problem Is You – written and produced by Byrne, 73, and performed by the cast. Williams, 36, known for Paramore's hits including Still Into You and Ain't It Fun, joins the Psycho Killer singer for the end title song, Open The Door, as a co-writer and performer. Byrne said: 'This was a fun project. Like other Roald Dahl books, this one has its share of dreadful characters – this time two of them are front and centre. 'Kids (and adults) love that they can vicariously imagine their own worst impulses played out, harmlessly, in a punky fun story. So when I was approached to write some songs for this movie I immediately said 'let me give it a try and see if you like what I come up with'.' The film re-imagines Dahl's characters Jim and Credenza Twit – the meanest, smelliest, nastiest people in the world who own and operate a disgusting and dangerous amusement park, Twitlandia. As they rise to power in their town, two brave children and a family of magical Muggle-Wumps are forced to become as tricky as the Twits in order to save their city. Williams added: 'Being a part of this movie is like one pinch-me moment after another. My favourite Roald Dahl book growing up was The Twits. 'It feels like a cautionary tale – and also a really lovely depiction of chosen family and community, which is one of my favourite topics. I owe David Byrne for pulling me into the music for this. It was so fun and so surreal starting a song from scratch with him.' The film stars comedian Johnny Vegas and US actress Margo Martindale, who voice the eponymous Mr & Mrs Twits. Game Of Thrones star Emilia Clarke will also lend her voice to portray Pippa, while Hollywood actress Natalie Portman will portray Mary Muggle Wump. Other previously announced cast members include Freakier Friday actress Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Primos' Ryan Lopez, Nobody Wants This actor Timothy Simons and comedian Jason Mantzoukas. The film is written and directed by american filmmaker Phil Johnston, who is best known for co-writing Ralph Breaks The Internet and Zootopia. Johnston said: 'I still can't quite believe that I spent the last few years collaborating with David Byrne, a musical hero of mine since I was 13. 'From the first demo he sent me, on which the featured instrument was a 100-year-old banjolele, I knew I was going to love the songs he wrote. 'Throughout the process, my collaboration with David has been incredibly fun and surprisingly easy, probably because I've been stealing from him for so long. 'When David and I started talking about an end credit song, the first potential collaborator David brought up was Hayley Williams. 'I still can't quite believe that two of my favourite songwriters wrote a song together for The Twits. The saying 'never meet your heroes' simply does not apply here. I met two of them, and boy howdy, it's been a dream come true.' The Twits will debut on Netflix on October 17.
