Beyond The Gates Recap: Martin Hires Malone to Protect His Family
On today's Beyond The Gates recap:
Orphey Gene's: Kat continues to demand answers about Leslie from Jacob and the two snark back and forth (these two have such good brother/sister chemistry). They shift to discussing Leslie's case. Kat can't imagine what more information they need to trap Leslie. Jacob says they have to move beyond reasonable doubt, which frustrates Kat. Just then, Smitty enters which leads to more questions from Kat.
Kat asks Smitty what's up and Jacob picks it up saying they're working on a story together. Kat quickly makes her exit and Smitty takes a seat. Jacob asks what's up with Martin. Smitty thinks Martin is still the victim but worries he's blinded by how close all of this is to his family. Jacob says, if Martin is involved, they will need to part ways. Smitty gets it but wonders if Jacob will feel the same way if/when they find out Elon is involved. Jacob says justice makes no exceptions.
Jacob gets a call indicating Martin requested police protection from Malone. Smitty is furious and wants to know, right now, what his husband is hiding.
Martin and Smitty's Place: Martin pretends to talk on the phone as Smitty tries to continue their discussion from the night before. After his husband walks out, Martin puts down the phone.
Samantha runs downstairs to try and get past Daddy Martin. He grills her about where she's going, and she makes an ill-timed joke. Samantha apologizes but says she and Tyrell understand the concept of stranger danger. Martin reminds his daughter how her brother made such a grave error by bringing home a grown man. Samantha gets it but truly wonders what is going on with him. Martin says the world is crazy but Samantha says she will be leaving to head to the park and with that she exits.
Malone arrives and they discuss the Kenneth issue which is why Martin invited him. He says his family needs police protection 24/7 without anyone knowing it's happening. Malone promises his family will be protected.
Uptown: Chelsea and Madison discuss how happy they are with each other. Chelsea mentions her grandmother and how much Madison will love her. They discuss the amazing Anita Dupree which leads Madison to say she doesn't know anything about the way her family lives. Chelsea says there are many sides to Anita Dupree but mostly she is just a fabulous grandmother. She wants Madison to meet her for the first time at the Articulettes' reunion concert.
The waitress comes over and knows Chelsea from social media and they take a selfie. Madison says she's stunned by how much she has accomplished and how much she helps her followers. Madison fears they will get to know each other better and Chelsea will be bored.
Madison probes about Chelsea purse venture with Kat. She can't imagine dealing with so many unknowns. Chelsea is thrilled with the changes to her work and personal life. With that, they kiss and Madison suggests they go back to her place. As they get up to leave, they see Allison across the way.
Chicago: Anita calls a meeting with Tracy and Sharon. She thinks they need to update their choreography. Tracy and Sharon roll their eyes when they realize has already called someone. They are annoyed she continues to make decisions for the group rather than consulting them beforehand.
Anita tries to convince her bandmates that breathing new life into their classics will bring younger folks to their concert. Sharon thinks Anita is being bossy and remembers all the ways she used to tell them what to do. Anita continues to make her pitch but Sharon is done and makes her exit.
Tracy tells Anita their most recent argument isn't about the choreography. Anita agrees but pushes forward saying she wants Tracy to blindly agree with her and convince Sharon of the same. Tracy wishes she could but simply can't. Anita thinks she's being made into the villain again. Tracy thinks Anita always thought she had more talent than the rest of them which meant she could make the decisions. This time, it has to be different as the success of the reunion means everything to her and Sharon. They need the money which Anita has possessed for so long. She backs up Sharon saying Anita's thinks she is the boss of them, just as Sharon returns. Anita has enough and thinks maybe she should write some checks and get gone. Tracy and Sharon counter saying they have never been gold diggers sniffing around for a payout.
Anita admits most everything that happened before is her fault. She thought she could make things right and they could recreated their magic, but maybe they need to deal with the fact it's gone. Sharon and Tracy can't believe the reunion is off just because Anita says it's so.
Previous Beyond The Gates Recap:
Endings
Chelsea can't believe Allison is there when she approaches.
Anita says Tracy and Sharon can make the decision about the future of the group, while also reminding them everything is paid for. Anita knew this process would be difficult but had no clue what it would actually entail. With that, Anita throws the women out of her suite and says the concert will be just fine without her.
Smitty can't believe he's spent the better part of a week trying to make the connection between Malone and Martin only to find out they're on such friendly terms. Jacob says it's time for Smitty to pin his husband down and get answers.
Samantha is in the park helping a technologically inept Kenneth with his phone. Just then, Martin comes round the corner and spies what's happening.

At Gillette, Coldplay assemble a glimmering constellation of pop
Get Starting Point A guide through the most important stories of the morning, delivered Monday through Friday. Enter Email Sign Up While flaunting music from their past two albums, the tour's titular work 'Music of the Spheres' and 2024's 'Moon Music,' Tuesday night's concert stretched Coldplay's potential to different pockets of the pop universe, and demonstrated how much their palette has broadened since their mellow breakthrough hit, 'Yellow.' As light-up bracelets distributed to the audience blinked and cycled through colors in time with the performance, mimicking a glittering galaxy, the band spent two hours assembling a constellation of complementary sounds. Advertisement 'Paradise' cast a sweeping veil of synth-pop across the stadium, followed by a burst of drama via the poignant orchestral pop of 'Viva La Vida,' which found Martin and the crowd collectively retelling the fable that earned Coldplay their first No.1 song. 'People of the Pride' leaned into the latter half of pop-rock with a semi-political, fully-electric display of arena rock that caught Martin trading his usual softness for macho swagger, while their fizzy EDM collab with DJs The Chainsmokers ('Something Just Like This') felt ripe for a rave. Advertisement And yes, Coldplay's piano-pop resonates 25 years after the release of their debut album 'Parachutes,' in part thanks to TikTok and some well-timed teariness. Following reports that Martin had parted ways with his partner, actress Dakota Johnson, fans spotted Martin getting misty-eyed during 'Sparks' at a Las Vegas show last month, prompting a spike in streams and posts involving the song — just enough to The piano riffs of earlier hits 'Clocks' and 'Speed of Sound' have aged just as well, and cradled the stadium with a familiar warmth, although nothing sparkled quite like Martin's visible sense of wonder as a frontman. The gleam of tens of thousands of bracelets was rivaled only by the gleam in Martin's eyes as he skipped along the catwalk, giddy as if it were the tour's opening evening and not show number 200-plus. Granted, Tuesday wasn't Coldplay's first visit to Gillette Stadium since 2001, but the occasion felt like a triumphant return post-River Rave nonetheless. 'We're going to be massive in Boston,' indeed. COLDPLAY With Ayra Starr and Elyanna. At Gillette Stadium, Tuesday. Advertisement
