'Arcane' season 2 gets home release, pre-orders open for Netflix hit

Express Tribune20-07-2025
Arcane season 2 will receive a rare at-home release, with Netflix's acclaimed animated series arriving on Blu-ray and 4K UHD on October 21, 2025.
Based on Riot Games' League of Legends, Arcane has become one of Netflix's standout titles, and fans can now secure pre-orders for physical copies ahead of release.
The second season will be available in standard Blu-ray and limited-edition Steelbook formats, with the Steelbook offered in designs featuring characters including Cait, Vi, Jinx, and Ekko.
According to listings on GKIDS and Amazon, the Steelbook is priced at around $59.98, with sale prices from $42.99. Each edition contains three discs, covering all nine episodes of season 2, alongside over three hours of bonus content.
Additional features include behind-the-scenes featurettes such as 'Inside the Writer's Room,' artist breakdowns, music videos for the series' key songs, storyboards, and an art gallery.
For dedicated collectors, a 4K UHD collector's edition is also available at $150, including exclusive artwork, themed dice, enamel pins, art cards, posters, and episode guides.
Arcane's release on physical media is notable, as most Netflix originals do not receive Blu-ray or 4K editions.
The series is produced by Riot Games and Fortiche Productions, which has allowed for an expanded distribution beyond Netflix's usual streaming platform.

Joe Locke wraps Heartstopper finale filming: 'Bye Charlie'

Heartstopper star Joe Locke has officially wrapped filming on the highly anticipated finale of the hit Netflix adaptation, signaling the end of an emotional journey for fans of the show. Locke shared a heartfelt post on Instagram, writing 'Bye Charlie X' alongside behind-the-scenes images with co-star Kit Connor, thanking fans and the creative team behind the series. The final chapter of Heartstopper, based on the sixth volume of Alice Oseman's beloved graphic novel series, was adapted as a film instead of a traditional season. Directed by Wash Westmoreland (Still Alice) and written by Oseman herself, the finale has been in production for nearly two months. Kit Connor also confirmed the wrap via social media, closing the book on Nick and Charlie's story. In the final chapter, the couple faces the challenges of a long-distance relationship as Nick prepares to leave for university and Charlie gains new independence at school. Their emotional journey mirrors the personal growth of their circle of friends as they navigate love, change, and letting go. Speaking to The Playlist, Locke explained that filming a feature-length finale was a practical decision. 'We realized the only way to get it made this year is if we do a film… It makes it feel more cinematic and gives it the ending it deserves,' he said. The Heartstopper finale film now moves into post-production, with fans eagerly awaiting its release and one last goodbye to Charlie and Nick's coming-of-age story.

Happy Gilmore 2 director reflects on unexpected early plot twist involving Virginia Venit's character

Director Kyle Newacheck has shared his initial reaction to the surprising plot development at the start of Happy Gilmore 2, which premiered on Netflix on July 25. Speaking to PEOPLE, Newacheck revealed he was unaware of the major storyline involving Julie Bowen's character, Virginia Venit, until reading the completed screenplay. 'I did not see that coming,' he said. 'I would never have projected that that was going to be the inciting incident for this movie at the start of it.' Virginia, now married to Happy Gilmore and mother to their five children, is killed off in the film's opening moments after being struck in the head by a golf ball hit by her husband. Newacheck noted that the choice made sense in context. 'It's still within the DNA of the universe,' he said, referencing the original 1996 film in which Happy's father dies after being struck by a hockey puck. Bowen also addressed the plot in an interview, recalling her reaction when reading the script while on holiday. 'When I found out that I was killed on page 12, I started laughing,' she said. Despite the outcome, she was pleased to be part of the sequel. 'Of course, why would I not want to be part of Happy Gilmore?' She added that Adam Sandler was committed to involving original cast members in the sequel. Happy Gilmore 2 is currently available to stream on Netflix.

At the time, his family released a statement: 'It is with a profoundly heavy heart that we report that this morning we lost Cameron.' They added, 'He passed away in his sleep due to a seizure which was a result of an ongoing medical condition for which he was being treated.' Sandler had previously dedicated his 2020 Netflix film Hubie Halloween to Boyce, ending with a heartfelt message: 'In loving memory of CAMERON BOYCE. Gone way too soon and one of the kindest, coolest, funniest, and most talented kids we knew. You live on forever in our hearts and are truly missed every day.'
