Tanishk Bagchi Reacts To Claims That Saiyaara Title Song Is Copied From One Direction Track: "Whatever I Do..."

New Delhi:
Mohit Suri's musical Saiyaara has been making waves on social media, courtesy its music. Tanishk Bagchi, who is one of the composers of the song along with singers Faheem Abdullah, Arslan Nizami, now reacted to the controversy that the title song of the film has been copied from One Direction's Night Changes and Jubin Nautiyal's Humnava Mere in a chat with India Today.
What's Happening
While social media is flooded with reels featuring Saiyaara title track, a section of the Internet claimed that the song has been copied from One Direction's Night Changes and Jubin Nautiyal's Humnava Mere.
Speaking to India Today, Tanishk Bagchi said, "Whatever I do, people will have something to say because they don't have [anything better to do]. They keep on looking for opportunities to put me down. But ultimately, the song will go wherever it's destined to, and that's what's happening with Saiyaara too. As for the comparisons, if you look at the melody, the chords are the same. The A minor scale has just about 3-4 chords but every melody has a different soul. That doesn't mean that anything was stolen. Even if you can do that, it's really difficult to make it a hit."
"All said and done, we didn't steal anything. The similarities are fine, it can happen, but it's not like we did it on purpose. Idhar se utha ke udhar nahi kiya (we didn't pick and add anything). We worked on the emotion of the song, and that worked. That's the magic of the track 'Saiyaara'," he said in his defence.
"The best thing is that it's an original Hindi song, a pure Hindi song. There is no collaboration with foreign artists; everyone associated is home-grown, so that's a big achievement for me. I did have an intuition that this could go viral, but I never expected it to top global charts. I think it's purely the hard work on the song and the pure intention that worked in its favour," he said.
Saiyaara title track featured on Spotify's viral top 50 tracks, along with making it to the top five global hit songs on the platform.

Tamannaah on beauty procedures: Easy to judge people in media glare

Actor Tamannaah Bhatia, in an exclusive conversation with The Lallantop, discussed beauty treatments and public judgment surrounding them. Her comments come amid extensive talk on female actors opting for beauty treatments against the backdrop of television actor Shefali Jariwala's 35-year-old actor bluntly stated these conversations wouldn't have happened had it been about a person from any other industry. She added that it is easier to judge people who are in the media bhi cheez filmon me hoti hai ya film ke related logo se hoti hai ya entertainment ke related logo se hoti hai, wo charcha me aa jati hai. Log usko judge karne lag jate hai (Whatever happens in films or with people related to films or with people related to entertainment, it comes into discussion. People start judging it)," she expressed. On being labelled as flag bearers of beauty, she responded, "People need to understand that it is very easy to talk about people who are in the media glare. Because you know about their lives. There are so many people whose lives you don't know anything about, and you will never know also...""In baton ke baare me hum bas charcha kar sakte hai. Isse hum kahi pahuchte nahi hai. (We can only discuss these things. This will not get us anywhere). I don't know how conclusive they are," she then expressed that beauty treatments like Botox are no longer a taboo topic. "Gen-Z kids are quite open about it. Jo bhi process karate hai, (whatever procedure they undergo), they are open about it," Bhatia shared. Lastly, the 'Baahubali' actor concluded, "Koi bhi judgement ke through guzarna nahi chahta. Wo kuch kahenge to unpe ungliya uthengi. (No one wants to go through judgment. If they say anything, fingers will be pointed at them.) There is a lot of judgment on people who are in films. Wo shayad comfortable nahi hai apne life me baare me share karne ke liye. (Maybe they are probably not comfortable sharing their life)."For the unaware, Shefali Jariwala was found dead at her residence on the night of June 27. Police officials found two boxes containing tablets and vials of anti-ageing medication (Glutathione) and skin glow medications at her residence. While preliminary reports said a cardiac arrest caused her death, sources close to the investigation suggest a far more troubling reason: a cocktail of anti-ageing injections, allegedly self-administered while she was led to heightened focus on the use of beauty treatments by celebrities, especially female actors, in the film Jariwala first rose to fame with her performance in the 90s dance number 'Kaanta Laga'. She later participated in various Hindi reality shows, including 'Bigg Boss 13' and 'Nach Baliye', among others.- Ends

Kishore Kumar AI Version Of Saiyaara Takes Internet by Storm; Fans Call It More Soulful Than Original

Last Updated: Kishore Kumar's AI-generated version of Saiyaara goes viral online. Fans call it nostalgic, soulful—some even say it's better than the original. The chart-topping title track of Saiyaara has already cemented its place as a musical phenomenon. But now, a fan-made AI-generated version featuring the legendary voice of Kishore Kumar has added a nostalgic twist to the viral wave. Set against visuals of Rimjhim Gire Sawan, the AI cover has taken social media by storm, sparking debate over creativity, ethics, and authenticity in the age of artificial intelligence. The edit juxtaposes Kishore Kumar's recreated vocals with the classic rainy Mumbai visuals of Amitabh Bachchan and Moushumi Chatterjee from the 1970s hit—creating a surreal time-travel moment for music lovers. Somebody made AI based Kishore Kumar version of Saiyaara title songGood effort with retro style rhythm arrangement.. sounds better than original.. yet not even 10% of the power, energy, vibrancy, voice, singing of what KK cud have achieved.. — Keh Ke Peheno (@coolfunnytshirt) August 2, 2025 Online, the video has stirred both admiration and skepticism. 'This is so soothing, at first I thought the Saiyaara song was rewritten," commented one user on X. Another gushed, 'The edit is really good, even better than the original." A third added bluntly, 'India literally lost real creators in music industry." But not everyone was sold. While many applauded the technical finesse, die-hard Kishore Kumar fans pushed back, calling the AI voice a pale imitation of the original. 'Only true Kishore fans will not go 'wow' on this video effort. The original song + the video is a masterpiece. None can replace them even if may seem perfect fit for some noobs," one post read. Another critic added, 'Good effort with retro-style rhythm arrangement… sounds better than original… yet not even 10% of the power, energy, vibrancy, voice, singing of what KK could have achieved." This online buzz comes on the heels of Saiyaara's historic global run. The Faheem Abdullah-sung ballad recently became the first Hindi song to top Spotify's Global Viral 50 chart, and also entered Spotify's Top 10 worldwide—a rare feat for a Bollywood track. Directed by Mohit Suri, Saiyaara stars newcomers Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda. The film has crossed ₹250 crore at the box office, and the song—composed by Tanishk Bagchi, Faheem Abdullah, and Arslan Nizami—has played a pivotal role in its cultural dominance. view comments First Published: August 03, 2025, 19:25 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
