This actress was as beautiful as Sridevi, sacrificed her career for marriage, was betrayed by her husband, name was..., Kamal Haasan was her... Srividya, the renowned Tamil and Malayalam actress of the 70s, entered the entertainment world as a teenager. She was not just a prolific actress, but also a talented Bharatanatyam dancer. With films like Kumara Sambhavam, Tata Manavadu, Apoorva Raagangal, Chottanikkara Amma, and many others, she carved a special place in the hearts of audiences. In 1975, Srividya got a chance to star with Kamal Haasan in K Balachander's film Apoorva Raangaga. During the shooting of the film, Srividya fell in love with Haasan. While she became a leading name in the industry, Kamal was still striving to make a mark in films. Srividya wanted to marry him and settle down. However, Srividya's mother advised the couple to wait and settle in their careers before making a long-term commitment of marriage. But, Kamal wasn't okay with it, and he decided to call the relationship quits. Srividya then moved on with film director Bharathan, who collaborated with her in many films. However, their relationship couldn't continue longer, as Bharathan decided to breakup. Srividya was then left heartbroken and shattered. After two failed relationships, Srividya decided to give love another chance. She dated George Thomas, an assistant director of her Malayalam film, Teekkanal , and got married to him in 1978. Srividya wanted to quit films and focus on her marital duties. However, her husband didn't let her do the same due to financial constraints. Within few months of marriage, Srividya realised marrying George was a mistake. In 1980, Srividya divorce George, and the case regarding their finances went up to the Supreme Court of India. After fighting a long legal battle, Srividya won the case. She left Chennai and moved to Thiruvananthapuram. In 2003, she was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. After undergoing three years of treatment, Srividya passed away on October 19, 2006, aged 53.
