Indian Express4 days ago
Ratnam E M Kalra, a content creator known for his compelling storytelling videos, recently shared an inspiring story revolving around Viraj Srivastav, a former assistant director who now works as a Rapido captain. After losing his father, Srivastav made the difficult decision to leave his home and mother behind to make a name for himself. But the journey was far from easy, as he had his own share of hardships his way.
'Main aadhi duniya ghum chuka hun, mera passport triple hai par kismat kab kahan le jaaye (I have travelled half of the world. My three passports ran out of pages, but you never know what destiny has planned for you),' Srivastav says in a viral video shared by Kalra.
Now a Rapido captain, Srivastav couldn't complete his studies due to financial problems following his father's demise. 'Main bahut roya maa ko miss kar ke par waapis jaane ka tareeka nhi pata tha (I cried buckets as I missed my mother, but I couldn't return to her),' he adds.
As the video progresses, Kalra says that Srivastav was his Rapido captain. Srivastav revealed that he had worked as an assistant director in Zee TV's popular daily soap Qubool Hai, starring Surbhi Jyoti and Karan Singh Grover. His first salary was around Rs 2,250, and he further received an offer from a TV production house.
Sharing his musical skills, Srivastav reveals that he is proficient in drums, congo, ukulele, and is trained in thumri, a semi-classical vocal form in Hindustani music. 'Marne se phle jo meri iccha hai na, wo karke rahunga, kursi pe baith kr rahunga. Roll, Camera, Action, bol kar rahunga (I'll anyhow achieve my dream of becoming a director. Before dying, I'll sit on the director's chair and say roll, camera, action),' Srivastav says.
Kalra, who shared the Instagram reel, wrote, 'It turned out to be such a special coincidence because I was his first ever Rapido ride. He was just trying it out as a part-time thing to earn an extra buck on the side. But he was special, stubborn, stern and so so talented.'

The video resonated with several social media users, amassing over a million views. 'tu matt pahuncha, main pahunchuga (you don't reach me, I'll reach there),' content creator-actor Kusha Kapila commented. 'This reminds me of that scene in tamasha jab ved talks to that rickshaw driver. 'Wat wat wat wat',' another user wrote.
'The stubbornness for success is what makes the difference,' a third user reacted.

A reminder that what I do matters: Shah Rukh Khan on winning National Film Award

New Delhi, Superstar Shah Rukh Khan on Friday said he was 'overwhelmed with gratitude, pride and humility' after being named best actor at the 71st National Film Awards, his first win at the prestigious film honours in a career spanning over three decades. A reminder that what I do matters: Shah Rukh Khan on winning National Film Award In a video message on Instagram, the 59-year-old actor said the National Film Award serves as a reminder that his work "matters" and encourages him to "keep going, working hard, keep creating and keep serving cinema". Shah Rukh, who shared the award with "12th Fail" actor Vikrant Massey, was rewarded for his performance in filmmaker Atlee's action drama "Jawan" . The movie, which minted over ₹1,100 crore at the worldwide box office, was a high-octane thriller and featured SRK in the dual role of Army officer Vikram Rathore and his jailor son Azad. "I am overwhelmed with gratitude, pride and humility. To be honored with the National Award is a moment that I will cherish for a lifetime," he said in the video message. In the video, the actor's right hand was in a sling following an injury he sustained while shooting for his upcoming film "King". "A national award is not just about achievement. It's a reminder that what I do matters. It tells me to keep going, keep working hard, keep creating and keep serving cinema. "In a world full of noise to be heard, truly heard, is a blessing. And I promise to use this recognition, not as a finish line, but as fuel to continue striving, learning and giving back. This award is a reminder for me that acting is not just work but a responsibility, to show the truth on the screen. I am grateful for all the love," Shah Rukh said. The actor extended his thanks to the award jury, the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, and his recent collaborators directors Rajkumar Hirani , Siddharth Anand and especially Atlee. "Thanks to Atlee sir and his team for giving me the opportunity in 'Jawan' and trusting me to deliver and be worthy of this award. Atlee sir, this is like you say 'mass'," he said. Shah Rukh also gave a special mention to his team, acknowledging their patience and hard work. "I want to thank my team and management, which works tirelessly with me. They bear with me, my eccentricities and impatience and give me their full attention and make me look much better than I am... like even now in this video. This award, without their perseverance and love would not be possible at all. Thank you so much for everything you do," he said. Shah Rukh, who made his film debut with 1992's "Deewana", also expressed gratitude to his family. "My wife and kids who, over the last few years, give me so much more love and care as if I'm the kid in the house and want only the best for me. They know my obsession with cinema takes me away from them, but they all bear it with a smile and allow me the time. So thank you very much for that," he added. The actor also thanked his fans and said they will see him on screen soon. "Thank you for all the cheers and all the tears, and really, thank you for pausing your scrolling while watching my award. This award is for you, as each award is and yeah, I would love to spread my arms for you and share my love, but I'm a bit indisposed. But don't worry, just keep the popcorn ready. I'll be back in theaters and soon on the screen. So till then, just with one hand," he said. This article was generated from an automated news agency feed without modifications to text.

Son of Sardaar 2 opens lower than Son of Sardaar in India - Day One Box Office comparison

Son of Sardaar 2, starring Ajay Devgn, Mrunal Thakur, Ravi Kishan and others, has begun its box office run. Serving as the sequel to 2012 comedy film, Son Of Sardaar, the second instalment opened with a below-par figure. Son of Sardaar 2 opens lower than the 2012 released first instalment Directed by Vijay Kumar Arora, Son of Sardaar 2 debuted with just Rs 6 crore to Rs 6.50 crore net on its opening day, today. It is not only a dull start but also a lower figure than the opening day figure of its first instalment. For the record, Son Of Sardaar had collected Rs 9.50 crore net on its opening day. Even if one doesn't consider ticket inflation, the opening day figure of Son Of Sardaar 2 still looks dwarf in front of its prequel as the first film had faced a tough competition with Shah Rukh Khan 's Jab Tak Hai Jaan. The latest outing of Ajay Devgn also faced a clash with Dharma Productions' Dhadak 2, however, both have nominal buzz among the audience. Day 1 box office comparison of Son Of Sardaar and Son of Sardaar 2: Movie Net India Day 1 Son of Sardaar (2012) Rs 9.50 crore Son of Sardaar 2 (2025) Rs 6.75 crore The original movie had Sanjay Dutt, Juhi Chawla, and Sonakshi Sinha as the three main characters apart from Ajay Devgn. Moreover, Salman Khan had made a guest appearance in the movie, which took its buzz a notch higher. Son of Sardaar ended up doing Rs 88 crore net in its lifetime and emerged as a HIT venture. Looking at the current trends and initial word-of-mouth of Son Of Sardaar 2, it is likely to wrap its theatrical run much lower than its prequel. Don't be surprised if it ends up collecting just half of its first part. The movie has opened to average to poor reviews, which are hampering its business. If the movie had met with superlative word-of-mouth, things would have been much better. Stay tuned to Pinkvilla for more updates. Box Office: F1 continues to draw audience in week five; Collects Rs 88 crore net in 35 days

F1, directed by Joseph Kosinski and starring Brad Pitt, Kerry Condon, Damson Idris, Javier Bardem and others, is still holding its own at the Indian box office. The film's collections have not been affected, despite it losing all of its high performing IMAX screens, and despite facing new local competition every week. After 5 weeks, the movie's collections stand at Rs 88 crore and it still has some steam left. There is news that the movie will release in IMAX screens and if that happens on a large scale, a Rs 100 crore touch-and go finish can't be ruled out. For now, it looks to cross Mission: Impossible 8 to become the highest Hollywood grosser of the summer. The Week Wise India Net Box Office Collections Of F1 Are As Under Week India Net Collection 1 Rs 34.50 crore 2 Rs 24.90 crore 3 Rs 13.45 crore 4 Rs 10.90 crore 5 Rs 4.25 crore Total Rs 88 crore net in 5 weeks F1 Heads For A Usd 600 Million Global Finish F1 released with very subdued expectations. The movie was never meant to do over USD 300 million worldwide. However, the racing film kept crushing predictions, week after week. Now, it is expected to end its run in the USD 580 - 600 million vicinity, and who knows, the late legs can help it even go beyond USD 600 million. There's no doubt that F1 is the summer's biggest surprise, even though there have been more profitable films all summer. Lilo and Stitch, How To Train Your Dragon, Jurassic World: Rebirth and Superman are bigger hits but none of them surprised the trackers more than F1 did. Brad Pitt Shows His Movie Star Power Brad Pitt was going through a lul phase in his career and there really needed to be a film like F1 to show to the audiences, why he is loved so much. Movie stars are movie stars because they have the ability to cater to all kinds of audiences.
