Inspiring visionary, outstanding scientist, great patriot: PM Modi's homage to Abdul Kalam
Kalam served as the 11th President of India between 2002 and 2007.
Known as the 'Missile Man of India', Kalam earned the respect and admiration of people and political parties across the spectrum for his simple living and non-partisan conduct.
Paying rich tributes to Kalam, PM Modi said that he is remembered as an inspiring visionary, outstanding scientist and a great patriot.

PM Modi has held Kalam in high esteem. Last year, while remembering him on his birth anniversary, the PM remarked on his unique achievements, noting how rare it was for someone to become a "Rashtra Ratna (Jewel of the Nation)" before assuming the role of President of the Nation.
Dr Kalam was one of India's most respected scientists and leaders and is remembered for his extraordinary, simple life and high work. He played a key role in developing India's missile and defence systems. His major contribution came through the Integrated Guided Missile Development Programme, which led to successful missiles like Agni and Prithvi.
Kalam played a key role in giving India nuclear capabilities. In 1998, he was one of the chief coordinators of the Pokhran-II series of nuclear tests, in which five bombs were detonated at a test range in the town of Pokhran, Rajasthan.
Kalam was called a 'people's president, and he loved inspiring and encouraging the youth and children. On July 27, 2015, Kalam collapsed while delivering a lecture at the Indian Institute of Management Shillong and was pronounced dead from cardiac arrest soon afterwards.
BJP national chief and Union Minister J.P. Nadda, while paying his tribute to Kalam, said his life is a remarkable saga of struggle and success and his unparalleled contribution to making India a nuclear-powered nation is unforgettable.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath paid homage to Kalam and said his life was about simplicity, dedication, and patriotism, which is a divine inspiration for the entire nation.

Bengal BJP MPs to meet with Amit Shah on Monday
The Member of Parliament (MP) from the West Bengal Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will meet with Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday in Delhi. According to party sources, the Home Minister will chair a meeting with all the Bengal BJP MPs to strategize on countering the allegations raised by the Trinamool Congress (TMC) in the Assembly. In both BJP-ruled and non-BJP-ruled states, the identity cards of migrant laborers are being scrutinized. During questioning, many have admitted to being from Bangladesh and have mentioned three locations in Bengal—Barasat, Madhyamgram, and Siliguri—where they obtained fake identity documents. Bhattacharya claimed that the livelihoods of migrant laborers from Bengal, who have gone to other states leaving their families behind, are being threatened by Bangladeshi infiltrators and Rohingyas. 'Even in Kolkata, there is a colony in Kasba known as Gulshan Colony. How did this colony come up suddenly? What about those living behind the Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate? Can they provide any identification? The ruling government is pushing this state and its people toward danger. Our stance is very clear: only citizens of Bharat should reside here. Just as fake voters have been identified in Bihar, fake voters will also be identified here.' DMK-led alliance has lost public support, says Nainar Nagendran
The ruling DMK-led alliance in Tamil Nadu has lost its connect with the public and is functioning with internal contradictions, said Nainar Nagendran, State president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), in Bhavani. Mr. Nagendran told journalists that law and order situation in the State had broken down and murders were reported frequently across districts. This was because of the growing prevalence of narcotics, including cannabis, that had spread to rural areas too, he alleged. Mr. Nagendran said property tax and electricity tariffs had seen significant rise. The DMK, before coming to power, had promised ₹1,000 per month for all women. 'They did not fulfil it earlier. But with elections approaching, they will give it now,' he claimed. Welfare programme events had become platforms for visible discord among the ruling party MPs and MLAs. 'There is no unity — not only within the DMK but also within its alliance. The government is functioning inconsistently and is focused solely on retaining power,' he said. Teacher vacancies remained unfilled despite the promises made in the DMK's election manifesto and temporary posts were not regularised. On seat-sharing with the AIADMK, he said the BJP's primary objective was to unseat the DMK government, and the number of seats would be announced ahead of the elections. Regarding former AIADMK coordinator O. Panneerselvam's allegation that he failed to respond to calls and letters seeking support to meet the Prime Minister, Mr. Nagendran said he was unaware of any such communication and had not received any letter.
