Christopher Gorham Joins Fire Country Spinoff as Sheriff Mickey Fox's Ex-Husband
As first reported by our sister site Deadline, Gorham will appear as Travis, a lawyer and the ex-husband of Morena Baccarin's Sheriff Mickey Fox. Travis and Mickey share a daughter named Skye, whom they've helped through struggles with addiction, and the pair might still have feelings for each other… but it's complicated.

Additionally, Michele Weaver (Love Is_, Council of Dads) has been cast in the series-regular role of Cassidy, a deputy in the Edgewater County Sheriff's Department. Cassidy was inspired by Mickey to become a sheriff, which has led her to put Mickey on a pedestal as she tries to carve out her own identity in law enforcement.
Previously ordered to series at CBS for its 2025-26 TV season, Sheriff Country stars Baccarin as straight-shooting sheriff Mickey Fox — the stepsister of Fire Country's Sharon Leone — who investigates criminal activity as she patrols the streets of small-town Edgewater while contending with her ex-con father (Deadwood's W. Earl Brown) and a mysterious incident involving her wayward daughter. (Sheriff Country is not to be confused with Fire Country: Surfside, a potential 2026-27 spinoff to be led by Jared Padalecki if his possible CBS medical drama doesn't pan out.)
Fire Country has already been renewed for Season 4. In other CBS spinoff news, though, TVLine confirmed today that the Eye Network is not moving forward with potential offshoots for either The Neighborhood or The Equalizer.

Paulo Costa: UFC champ Khamzat Chimaev's style has 'potential to kill this business'
Paulo Costa ripped Khamzat Chimaev's title-winning performance at UFC 319. Chimaev (15-0 MMA, 9-0 UFC) dominated and out-grappled Dricus Du Plessis (23-3 MMA, 9-1 UFC) to claim the middleweight title in Saturday's headliner at United Center in Chicago. Chimaev was all over Du Plessis just seconds into the fight, landing 12 takedowns with more than 21 minutes of control time. Fans were getting uneasy during several moments of the fight, showering Chimaev with boos as he held Du Plessis on the ground. Costa called his performance boring. "This is a show. This is entertainment," Costa said on "The Ariel Helwani Show." "This kind of fight, and fighter, has a lot of potential to kill this business." Costa (15-4 MMA, 7-4 UFC) snapped his two-fight losing skid by defeating Roman Kopylov at UFC 318 in June and is eager for his shot at Chimaev. He admits he did not expect UFC CEO Dana White to praise Chimaev for his performance. "This surprised me also because at the press conference after the fight, Dana White was (saying), 'OK, he did amazing,'" Costa said "No, he didn't, man. He did horrible. This is horrible for the (viewers). This is not good. I know you make a deal with Paramount and CBS, but people will watch another show, something else. They will not watch these guys hugging each other for 25 minutes. So, this is not good for our sport."

28 Years Later's Danny Boyle's Next Movie Is About Rupert Murdoch, Cast Revealed
's next movie has been announced. Boyle recently directed 28 Years Later, the long-awaited sequel to 2022's 28 Days Later and 2007's 28 Weeks Later. That movie is being followed by at least one more movie, 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, which Boyle is producing and Candyman's Nia DaCosta is directing. There's also a third movie in the new 28 Years Later trilogy that's in development that Boyle plans to direct; however, Boyle said in June 2025 that they were 'still trying to get the money' for that film, per The Hollywood Reporter. Now, per Deadline, plans for Boyle to direct a movie about media mogul Rupert Murdoch have also been unveiled. What do we know about Danny Boyle's Rupert Murdoch movie? Guy Pearce, who was recently nominated for an Oscar for his performance in 2024's The Brutalist, is in talks to play Murdoch in the movie, which is titled Ink. Sinners Jack O'Connell, who also appeared at the end of 28 Years Later, is being eyed to play Larry Lamb, 'who Murdoch hired to run The Sun when he purchased it in 1969.' 'An explosive cinematic rollercoaster about a group of visionaries and misfits who had an idea for a new kind of news – one that would give the people what they want and would change the face of the world we live in today,' Deadline's article further notes about Ink's plot. '…Based on the James Graham play, follows Murdoch's struggling newspaper, The Sun, as he intends to make it a must-read news source and hires Lamb to run the paper. The purchase of the paper would start a long-standing rivalry between The Sun and The Mirror, leading to the rise of the British tabloids as we know them.' The Studiocanal, Media Res, and House Productions movie is being produced by Boyle, Tessa Ross, Michael Ellenberg, and Tracey Seaward, while Tonia Davis serves as an executive producer. Graham wrote the screenplay for the movie, which is expected to begin production this October. A release date for Ink has not yet been announced. Days of Our Lives Finally Reveals Who Shot EJ — Did You Guess Correctly?
Another Salem whodunit has finally been solved. More than four months after EJ DiMera was shot in his own living room, the identity of his assailant was revealed on Days of Our Lives' Aug. 19 episode. While EJ's son Johnny was initially suspected to be the shooter, a hypnosis session with Marlena helped EJ remember that it was a woman who pulled the trigger. This redirected suspicions to Johnny's wife Chanel, who was recorded threatening EJ shortly before the incident occurred — that is, until the video was discovered to be a deepfake, at which point Johnny fired EJ as his lawyer and decided to represent himself. (Yes, EJ was originally defending his own son at his own attempted murder trial. This is still Salem, after all!) More from TVLine Ryan Paevey Sets General Hospital Return - But Who Is He Playing? All Her Fault, Missing Child Drama Starring Succession's Sarah Snook, Gets Peacock Premiere Date Beyond the Gates' Ambyr Michelle Is Helping Viewers Heal From Trauma Through the Power of Storytelling - TVLine's Women to Watch EJ even tried to accuse Belle, who's both EJ's ex-girlfriend and the prosecution, of shooting him. He inferred that Marlena thought Belle did it after EJ recalled a woman shooting him during his hypnosis session, which led Belle to believe that whoever shot EJ is someone that both he and Marlena would want to protect. But who? The big reveal came in the final moments of Tuesday's episode, when EJ at last remembered the events of that fateful night. As many viewers (but apparently no one in Salem) suspected, the shooter was none other than EJ's 10-year-old niece Rachel, the daughter of his sister Kristen. In a haunting flashback, EJ remembered his niece demanding to find out where her grandmother went. EJ swore he didn't know, but Rachel pulled the trigger anyway, then left her uncle for dead on his living room floor. Were you surprised by the (attempted) killer reveal, or did you have another suspect in mind? And now that EJ remembers the truth, do you think he'll come forward, or will he continue accusing other women? Drop a comment with your thoughts on ' latest twist below.
