Erie Cancer Wellness Center in Millcreek Township received a generous donation from a North East business Friday.
Barnhart Gives, the charitable arm of Barnhart Group, presented a check for just under $26,000 to the nonprofit this morning.
Industrial chemical found in Erie Co. street drugs, says DA's office
The money was raised at an annual charity sporting clay shoot held in April, thanks to the participation of 250 shooters.
Barnhart employees chose the Erie Wellness Center as the fundraiser's recipient in alignment with their mission to give back to communities where they live and work.
Tickets now available Erie Zoo's centennial Mane Event
'My legs are shaking. My heart is racing. This is probably the most incredible gift that we've received so far. Especially from an organization like Barnhart who does so much for the community. It's an honor,' said Jackie Wassel, executive director of the Erie Cancer Wellness Center.
The funds are earmarked for children's programming.

The new Erie center, located at 1535 West 26th Street, has a full-service pharmacy alongside an Oak Street Health primary care center for Medicare-eligible adults in a move CVS said will help address patient care gaps. Pet owners will soon be able to honor pets at new Rainbow Bridge Memorial Garden Additionally, the center offers social activities in their community room for older adults and free rides to appointments to eligible patients courtesy of Oak Street Health. The full pharmacy will remain open to the public, offering prescription filling, vaccinations, and other pharmacy services to anyone who uses CVS Pharmacy. Tickets now available Erie Zoo's centennial Mane Event 'With the integration of Oak Street Health, we look forward to working as part of a patient's broader care team, collaborating with Oak Street Health providers to help patients manage their medications, identify potential ways to save on prescription costs, and provide recommended vaccinations and adherence support,' said Himaswetha Bharatha, PharmD, Pharmacy Manager, CVS Pharmacy. EMTA reminds riders of upcoming route changes

(WJET/WFXP) — There may be some changes coming to your bus route. Beginning June 7, the Erie Metropolitan Transit Authority (EMTA) will modify some of its routes. The Presque Isle Express (Route 33) will start up for the summer in downtown Erie and drive through Presque Isle State Park. Rides on this route are free and will run on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Tickets now available Erie Zoo's centennial Mane Event Since the colleges' spring semesters are over, Route 18 (Penn State Behrend), Route 19 (Gannon University) and the PennWest Edinboro Express will stop running.
