1 2 Lucknow: Leg-spinner Piyush Chawla, who was part of India's two World Cup-winning campaigns, on Friday announced his retirement from all forms of cricket after a career spanning more than two decades. The Aligarh-born UP player was a member of India's T20 and ODI World Cup-winning squads in 2007 and 2011 under the captainship of MS Dhoni. He represented India in three Tests, 25 ODIs, and seven T20Is, taking 43 wickets across the three formats of the game. The 36-year-old Chawla is also the joint third-highest wicket-taker in Indian Premier League (IPL) history, having taken 192 wickets in as many matches in T-20 IPL tenure 2008-2024 while playing for four IPL teams, having won one title with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in 2014. Most recently, he played for Mumbai Indians in IPL-2024. This season, he remained unsold at the IPL auction.
