Oprah Winfrey can't resist poking fun at Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's last name
The conversation took place on Wednesday, when Winfrey was asked about the possibility of receiving baby chicks as a gift. She joked that she would promptly take them over to the 'Sussexes,' playfully adding extra 'xes' to the couple's already distinctive surname.
Winfrey, a longtime friend of the royal couple, was invited to their 2018 wedding and also conducted their famous interview that aired in 2021. The couple, who stepped down from their senior royal duties, later settled in California, where they shared their chicken coop with Winfrey in a candid moment during the interview.
The 'Sussex' surname has become a topic of conversation before. Earlier this year, actress Mindy Kaling appeared on Markle's Netflix show, With Love, Meghan, where she accidentally referred to Markle as 'Meghan Markle' multiple times. Markle quickly corrected her, remarking, 'You know I'm Sussex now,' emphasizing the importance of her new family name.
In an interview with People, Markle elaborated on the emotional significance of the name for her family. "It just means so much to go, 'This is our family name, our little family name,'" she said, adding that sharing the surname with her children, Archie and Lili, was deeply meaningful. The Duchess further shared her appreciation for the name, describing it as a special bond for her family.

Rachel Zegler leaves Evita stage mid-show after falling ill
Rachel Zegler, currently starring in Evita at London's West End Palladium, abruptly exited Thursday evening's performance due to illness, according to People. The 24-year-old actress had performed the matinee earlier that day but was unable to continue the night show. During intermission, the production announced Zegler's departure, and understudy Bella Brown took over the lead role of Eva Perón for the second act. Brown opened the act with the show's most iconic number, 'Don't Cry for Me Argentina,' and delivered a performance that earned her a standing ovation lasting nearly five minutes. She and the cast returned for 10 curtain calls. Sharing her thoughts on Instagram, Brown praised understudies and stand-ins, saying, 'They are pillars of a show!' She later called the experience 'a proud day to be at Evita.' -Instagram. Zegler's absence comes amid a headline-making run of the Jamie Lloyd-directed production, which opened in June and continues through September 6. While many have praised Zegler's West End debut, the staging choice for her performance of 'Don't Cry for Me Argentina' — sung from a balcony outside the theatre while audiences inside watch via livestream — sparked controversy. Some ticketholders expressed frustration on social media, questioning the value of the experience. Others defended the choice, viewing it as a poignant symbol of accessibility for those unable to afford theatre admission. The role is a personal milestone for Zegler, who previously shared that Evita had deep meaning to her and her father. 'The stage has always felt like home to me,' she told Deadline in March. Zegler's off-stage life has also drawn attention recently. She was seen with dancer Nathan Louis-Fernand at a Sabrina Carpenter concert in July, following reports of her split from actor Josh Andrés Rivera. Her latest role follows a tumultuous year, including public backlash over her comments during Disney's Snow White press tour and the film's poor box office performance.

'Eddington' actor Micheal Ward charged with rape and sexual assault
British actor Micheal Ward, best known for his breakout role in Netflix's Top Boy and acclaimed appearances in Empire of Light and Eddington, has been formally charged with two counts of rape and three counts of sexual assault, according to the Metropolitan Police. The alleged offences involve one woman and are reported to have occurred in January 2023. Ward, 27, from Cheshunt in Hertfordshire, is scheduled to appear at Thames Magistrates' Court in east London on August 28, 2025. Detective Superintendent Scott Ware, who is leading the investigation, stated that the Met's specialist officers are continuing to support the woman involved. 'We know investigations of this nature can have a significant impact on those who make reports,' Ware said in a statement. Catherine Baccas, deputy chief crown prosecutor for CPS London South, confirmed that the Crown Prosecution Service reviewed a file of evidence and authorized the charges. 'Micheal Ward has been charged with two counts of rape, two counts of assault by penetration, and one count of sexual assault,' she said. Baccas also emphasized the importance of a fair trial, reminding the public not to share content or commentary that could prejudice the proceedings. Ward rose to prominence for his role as Jamie in Top Boy, which ran from 2013 to 2022. In 2020, he won the BAFTA Rising Star Award and later earned a BAFTA nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Steve McQueen's Lovers Rock. Most recently, he appeared in the Cannes-premiering film Eddington, alongside Joaquin Phoenix and Emma Stone. Ward has not publicly commented on the charges. ‘Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping' prequel casts Iris Apatow and Edvin Ryding in key roles
Lionsgate has announced major casting updates for The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, with Iris Apatow and Edvin Ryding joining the anticipated prequel as new faces in the Capitol. The film, set for release in November 2026, centres on a young Haymitch Abernathy, years before he becomes Katniss Everdeen's drunken mentor and takes audiences back to the 50th Hunger Games. Apatow, known for her roles in The Bubble and Love, will portray Proserpina Trinket, a Capitol stylist who appears to share more than a surname with Effie. Edvin Ryding, best recognised for his breakout in Netflix's Young Royals, steps in as Vitus, Haymitch's image strategist during his time in the Games. Their characters form part of the prep team tasked with turning Haymitch into a presentable tribute for the deadly arena. Joining them are Jax Guerrero as Tibby and Sandra Förster as Hersilia, both playing original characters created for the film. Joseph Zada, already confirmed to play young Haymitch, leads the cast. Sunrise on the Reaping explores the events of the 50th Hunger Games, also known as the Second Quarter Quell, which forced each district to send double the usual number of tributes. The film promises a grittier look into how the Capitol manufactures spectacle and trauma. Fans can expect an origin story that delves into how Haymitch's cynicism and survival instincts were forged in blood and betrayal. With Lionsgate banking on a successful return to Panem after the modest success of The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, this cast announcement signals a bold move to blend rising Gen Z talent with an established franchise. As excitement builds, eyes now turn to how this new ensemble will reinvent a familiar dystopia for a new generation.
