Mahomes has already received two NFL MVP awards, three Super Bowl rings and three Super Bowl MVPs. But his impact goes far beyond the football field.
Mahomes started the 15 and the Mahomies Foundation back in 2019, dedicated to "improving the lives of children." One of the foundation's most recent endeavors was hosting its charity event, the Vegas Golf Classic, from May 14 to 16. In 2024, the same event raised $1,077,000.
On Wednesday, Mahomes and the 15 and the Mahomies Foundation announced a new initiative: awarding $150,000 in college scholarships to high school seniors in Kansas City, his hometown of Tyler, Texas and Lubbock, Texas, where he played college football at Texas Tech.
In total, 15 different $10,000 scholarships will be given out to five different athletes from each city.

"🎓The $10,000 scholarship will recognize 5 Class of 2025 students in each region that epitomize academic excellence, leadership, and community involvement."
Mahomes also addressed his new scholarship decision, per KLTV's Kyle Owens.
'Giving back to the communities that have shaped me has always been incredibly important,' Mahomes said. "Through the 15 and the Mahomies Foundation, we want to support the next generation of leaders and difference-makers. These scholarships are about lifting students up and showing them that their dreams are within reach.'
This is not the first time 15 and the Mahomies have given out scholarships. Back in 2022, he also "provided a $25,000 grant to the SEAL Legacy Foundation in support of the Honored SEAL Legacy Scholarship Program." The donation went to more than 100 SEALs and their families who are still affected by 9/11.

Bucs GM Jason Licht shares who the backup plan was if they didn't sign Tom Brady

The Bucs won a Super Bowl in 2020, led by Tom Brady and backed by a special team. The COVID-19 season was memorable for a variety of reasons, but for Tampa Bay fans, it will be special for several reasons, and Brady was the main one. This past week, after the team had signed quarterback Teddy Bridgewater to backup Baker Mayfield, general manager Jason Licht dropped some interesting tidbits about the new Bucs quarterback. Back in 2020, the Bucs had their eyes set on Brady, but they also had some backup options. One of those backup options has been revealed to be Bridgewater. Licht explained, saying, "He's (Bridgewater) a pro's pro and you know that obviously helps to have our offensive coordinator that has relationship with him. Todd (Bowles) has a good relationship with him. We had him in here in 2014 for the draft. There was a there might have been a reason or a situation where we would have taken him if he fell a little further. And, you know, a few years ago, he was what was behind door number two. We talked about that on the sideline, so we ended up with Tom Brady, but now we have Teddy on the roster so that you can have everything just not all at once." It is safe to say that the road to the Super Bowl may have been much harder to complete if they had not had Brady. Between what Tom Brady brought to the roster in terms of appeal for the likes of Rob Gronkowski, Antonio Brown, and Leonard Fournette, the type of player he is compared to Bridgewater is on two ends of the spectrum. While Bridgewater has always been a reliable, managing type of player, he has lacked the playmaking that Brady has had. Might not be an understatement to say that things would be much different had they signed Bridgewater to lead that team.

Are the Broncos better than last season? Sean Payton gives his take

After the Denver Broncos went 5-12 in 2022, they brought in Sean Payton and improved to 8-9 in 2023. The franchise then followed that up with a 10-7 record in 2024. If that trend continues, the Broncos could be poised for a 12-win season this fall. After the team's 30-9 preseason win over the San Francisco 49ers on Saturday, Denver coach Sean Payton was asked if his squad has improved yet again. "The question was, is this team better than last year?" Payton said. "I think this year's team has a chance to be, but I think the biggest thing we always talk about, you're not ever picking up where you left off, but I do think this year's team has a chance to be better. We've added depth at certain positions we didn't have a year ago. "We were in the largest cap deficit dead money in the history of maybe all of sports, but certainly in the NFL with 90-some million. We're not in that position this year, it's two-thirds of an operating budget, but this team's going have to do that. Same amount of games, one game more, they're going to write this chapter and we're going to all be here for it. And our job's to try to accomplish that, but we're right at the beginning with a lot of work ahead of us.' Not much of a prediction from Payton. The veteran coach has not shied away from talking Super Bowl -- he has clearly set that as a goal for the Broncos -- but Payton's not making any grand predictions to the media. Denver has a "chance" to be better than last season. Eleven wins would be an improvement for their overall record, but winning the division and advancing in the playoffs is the immediate goal, with a Super Bowl title the ultimate goal. There's a lot of work to be done, but the Broncos seem to be trending in the right direction. Social: Follow Broncos Wire on Facebook and Twitter/X! How will Landon Dickerson injury impact the Eagles?

Yahoo Sports' Jason Fitz and Caroline Fenton discuss the latest injury to the Eagles offensive lineman and how it could affect the defending Super Bowl champions. View more Video Transcript Yesterday, Sunday, at Philadelphia Eagles practice, their left guard, Landon Dickerson was carted off the field. He was initially helped off the field and then carted inside after what was reported to be a right leg injury. Now, the latest on that, Adam Schefter did report early this morning that he will undergo an MRI on his right knee later today. So hopefully we'll get some updates on that as soon as possible. And if those updates come out while we're on air, we will update you as soon as possible, of course. But look, Landon Dickerson was a key cog in what has been the best offensive line in the National Football League over the last few years, if not one of the best offensive lines in the National Football League. And if he's out, now, we don't know if he will miss time. Maybe it was a stinger, maybe it was something that he'll just miss a couple of days or a couple of weeks and he'll be ready for week one. But if Landon Dickerson is out for a considerable amount of time, what does that do for a team that relies heavily. On being one of the best offensive lines in the league that relies heavily on running the football. I mean, Saquon Barkley was the difference in this team missing out on a Super Bowl, losing in the Super Bowl, and eventually winning a Super Bowl. That offensive line is pivotal in Saquon Barkley's success, especially for an offensive line that already lost its right guard, Mackay Beck in this past offseason to free agency. Of course, they still have Jordan Mailata, they still have Lane Johnson, their bookend tackles, who are also pivotal parts of that offensive line. But let's look at the offensive line as one unit. It is not five individual parts. So if Landon Dickerson does miss a considerable amount of time, then what will this, you know, the Super Bowl offensive line that had both of those guards, what will it look like without both of those guards? How will this run game adjust? How will this affect Jalen Hurts in the pocket? All kind of up in the air. We'll learn more later today when those MRI results come back, but scary scene, Fitzy, for Landon Dickerson to practice on Sunday. Close
