758 irrigation projects completed in Vidarbha, says Maha minister
In a written reply, the Minister told the state Assembly on Wednesday that of the total 858 irrigation projects, 758 projects have been completed as of June 2024 by the Vidarbha Irrigation Development Corporation in the region.
Of the balance 100 projects, the work on 13 projects could not start as the administrative approval, including permission from the forest department, had already lapsed. The remaining 87 irrigation projects are under various stages of implementation.
He said this while responding to a question by Pravin Datke and others.
Of the total Vidarbha's irrigation potential of 22.31 lakh hectare, 14.23 lakh hectare of land has been irrigated, which comes to 64 per cent till June 2024. The implementation of 87 projects as of today is under way while 12 projects are pending due to forest land and other reasons. The irrigation potential of 87 irrigation projects is 12.60 lakh hectare, of which 4.81 lakh hectare have been irrigated by the end of June 2024.
According to the Index and Backlog Committee, the irrigation backlog in six districts from the Vidarbha region by the end of June 1994 was reported at 7,84,720 hectares. Of which, the irrigation backlog of 7,81,185 hectares, which is 94 per cent, has been cleared by the end of June 2025. The irrigation backlog of 43,535 hectares still exists in Akola and Buldhana.
The minister told the state council that the government is providing funds for the completion of pending irrigation projects through the Centre's Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchan Yojana, Baliraja Jalsanjeevani Yojana, loan under NABARD's Rural Infrastructure Development Fund and partial grant.
The fund is being provided as per the fund disbursement formula devised by the state Governor and the state's financial status. He said that the fund is being provided to complete irrigation projects to clear the backlog from the Amravati division and also for the Gosikhurd National Project from the Nagpur region.

The Monsoon Session of the Uttar Pradesh legislature will commence on Monday (August 11, 2025), with Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana chairing an all-party meeting on Sunday (August 10, 2025) to seek the cooperation of all political parties. 'The Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in Bihar is a routine, transparent, and constitutionally mandated exercise carried out under the direct supervision of the Election Commission of India. Its objective is simple - to ensure that every eligible voter's name is included, errors are corrected, and duplicate or ineligible entries are removed. This process strengthens democracy and empowers citizens, especially first-time voters. Any attempt to portray this as politically motivated is baseless and misleading,' said Pushkar Mishra, a senior BJP functionary based in Uttar Pradesh.

Belthangady MLA seeks police action against those spreading false information
Harish Poonja, MLA for Belthangady, has asked police to take action against those spreading false information about the ongoing probe into the alleged burials of several bodies near Dharmasthala. Talking to reporters on Saturday, Mr. Poonja said that so far he has not issued a statement on this matter related to his Assembly constituency in order to avoid any disturbance to the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe. The SIT has not divulged any official information regarding the probe, and it has not submitted any interim report to the State government yet. However, the false information being spread about the investigation has been disturbing peace in the society, he said. The police should bookcases suo motu against the false statements being issued about the investigation, both those supporting and those against the probe. Unfortunately, the police have not yet taken effective action against those spreading false information in the matter, he said and urged the State government to take action to maintain law and order in the region. The MLA said around 10 Hindu activists and BJP workers have been named in connection with the group clash at Pangala, in Dharmasthala, on August 6, following the assault of three YouTubers and a cameraman. Claiming that these activists were innocent and the police booked them under pressure from the left parties and SDPI, the MLA urged the police to take rightful action and not create mistrust among people. Hindu activists and BJP workers should not be unnecessarily targeted, he said.

UP CM Adityanath Opens Vidhan Sabha's Renovated Dome, Joins All-Party Meet
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday inaugurated Vidhan Sabha's renovated dome ahead of the Monsoon Session of Uttar Pradesh Assembly that will commence tomorrow. He also inaugurated the newly renovated Assembly Mandap, Assembly Hall No. 15, and the VIP lounge. Following the inauguration, the CM participated in an all-party meeting to discuss the upcoming Monsoon Session. Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana convened the all-party meeting before the monsoon session, in which, alongwith CM Yogi, leaders from both the ruling side and the opposition were present. Key issues were discussed during the session. Present at the meeting were Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana, Finance and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Khanna, Leader of Opposition Mata Prasad Pandey, Minister Sanjay Nishad, Om Prakash Rajbhar, Congress MLA Aradhana Mishra, BSP MLA Umashankar Singh, MLA Kunwar Raghuraj Pratap Singh, among others. The Kakori Train Action or Kakori Conspiracy was a train robbery that took place at Kakori, a village near Lucknow, on 9 August 1925 during the Indian Independence Movement against the British colonial rule. Hindustan Republican Association organised the robbery, and more than 40 persons were arrested in this incident. They were finally sentenced to death by the British government, and also severe punishments were given to those people who helped with this incident.
