‘Croke Park was shaking' – Famous faces and fans react to ‘unbelievable' first Oasis gig
The brothers dedicated Stand By Me to their mother Peggy, who is from Charlestown, Co Mayo, while they played a setlist of fan favourites complete with Champagne Supernova, Wonderwall and Don't Look Back in Anger.
Fans have reacted to the gig online in the aftermath, with one saying: 'Until the day I die, I will say you will never see a better band. No one could come back after 16 years and do what Oasis have done. The best ever.'
Many described the band as 'the greatest of all time' as they captured the sold-out crowd singing along to the songs, with the final song – Champagne Supernova – offering an 'unforgettable ending'.
Another crowd, who were unlucky in the scramble to secure tickets, gathered outside the stadium to sing along.
Podcaster Vogue Williams shared clips of a packed Croke Park as she declared her love for Liam Gallagher during Live Forever.
"My life is made… I love Liam FOREVER,' she wrote on Instagram.
RTÉ star Carl Mullan also secured tickets to the hotly-anticipated reunion tour alongside his wife Aisling, admitting the mood of the stadium during one track made him emotional.
"Up Rock 'n' Roll, up joy, up Oasis, up family, up the upper Cusack, up Ireland,' he captioned a series of pictures from the stadium last night.
Sharing a video of the crowd during 'Roll with It', he said: 'Of all the songs that made me cry last night, it was this. Just seeing the place absolutely heaving and having such craic was unbelievable.

"Croke Park was shaking (no joke, going to get a drink and you could feel the stand bouncing, not sure if this always happens at gigs but it felt mental).
"Enjoy if you're going tonight, the best atmosphere I've ever experienced at Croke Park for a gig.'
Fine Gael MEP Seán Kelly, who yesterday morning indicated that he will 'reconsider' his presidential bid after party candidate Mairead McGuiness withdrew from the race, was also among the crowd last night.
"Oasis in Croke Park. Rocking! Geniuses at play!!' he said.

Oasis fans warned about ticket issues inside Croke Park
Oasis fans are arriving to Croke Park in droves for the band's second sold-out night in the capital. However, many of the Saturday night attendees have warned those following them about issues they experienced inside the stadium. They were reportedly then later stopped from entering the standing area because of not having a wristband. This caused delays for fans trying to get onto the pitch and secure a spot to watch the Gallagher brothers' first Irish show since 2009. There were further issues at the other end of the gig on Saturday night, with planned pyrotechnics for the finale not going off 'due to a technical issue'. However, it won't be much of a concern for the tens of thousands of fans descending upon Croke Park for the second sold-out show as fans ultimately reported an unbelievable experience on night one. The brothers, joined by fellow band members Andy Bell, Gem Arche and Paul 'Bonehead' Arthurs played all their greatest hits and even paid tribute to Peggy Gallagher, the Mayo mammy of Liam and Noel. Speaking to the crowd on Saturday, Liam wondered if there was anyone from Peggy's native of Charlestown in Co Mayo. With the crowd erupting after Liam mentioned the town, the 52-year-old joked: 'There's only about five people there, you can't all be f*cking from there.' Social media has been rife with attendees of Saturday's gig wishing they could go again on Sunday, as they confirmed Sunday attendees were in for the 'best gig of your life.' One said: 'Anyone going tomorrow night, you'll see the best gig of your life. Just hit after hit. Incredible night.' Another shared: 'I turn 50 at midnight. This was the perfect farewell to the past.' 'Best night of my life,' a third person shared, 'That will never be topped.'

Former Eurovision star gives impromptu performance at Cork Airport
"It is great to be back in Cork and to get such a warm welcome," he said. Cathal (74) represented Ireland at the 1979 Eurovision Song Contest in Israel with his song, Happy Man. That helped launch his four decade career as a singer songwriter, storyteller and now author. He has been based in the US for over 30 years and has now penned his second novel, Athenry. "This book was very much a labour of love and I am so proud to be back in Ireland for its launch,' he said. "It is a story of love, loss, courage and hope around some of the most dramatic events in Irish history." An epic love story which is set at the time of the Great Famine and partly inspired by the song, Fields of Athenry, it will be launched later this month by Mercier Press. Cathal was so determined to have the book true to its era that he worked with Cork-based historian Michelle O'Mahony - author of a book about the Great Famine in Cork - to ensure its historical accuracy. Originally from the Douglas Road in Cork, Cathal is a nephew of the late Taoiseach and Cork GAA legend Jack Lynch. Writing is nothing new to the family with Cathal's first cousin, retired Colonel Dan Harvey, a respected military history author. To celebrate his arrival home, Cathal decided to deliver an impromptu performance at the arrivals hall of Cork Airport with a piano fortunately being at hand. Delighted passengers stalled leaving the airport terminal to enjoy the performance by the now-Pennsylvania based star. He was welcomed by Deputy Lord Mayor of Cork Councillor Tony Fitzgerald - and was joined for his brief concert performance by Caitriona Twomey's Cork Penny Dinners-High Hopes choir. Amongst the tracks that had newly arrived passengers clapping along were The Banks Of My Own Lovely Lee, Cork My Home, Galway Girl and Happy Man. Cathal is no stranger to Ireland, annually leading special tour groups from the US which explore Ireland's natural, architectural and musical heritage. The tour groups feature special concerts by Cathal featuring his music and Irish classics. It is his second trip back to his native county this summer after he returned last May to launch his new ballad, Cork My Home. The video to support the song was recorded in Fitzgerald Park and by Cork's iconic Shakey Bridge with support from Cork choirs and Cork Men's Shed groups. Cathal said it was important for people to follow their dreams. He had always wanted to author a book - and had his first book, Put Away Your Rosary Beads Ma, successfully published despite over 40 initial rejections. Athenry is the product of Cathal's focus on the Irish famine during the Covid-19 pandemic lockdown when he exhaustively read about how the events of the 1840s transformed Ireland and underpinned the global Irish diaspora. Cathal also revealed it was his first time landing at Cork Airport since he married his wife, Kathleen.

Fear and concern among Indian community, says ambassador
The Indian Ambassador to Ireland has said there is widespread concern and fear amongst the Indian community in Ireland, following what he described as recurrent and brutal attacks in recent weeks. Speaking to journalists at the India Day Festival in Merrion Square in Dublin city centre, Akhilesh Mishra said he has been working to reassure those members of the community who are fearful. "I'm very confident that garda and the political leadership here is very, very supportive. "They are taking all possible measures to ensure safety of public spaces, and they are taking all measures to give confidence and a welcome feeling to the Indian diaspora. For that, I'm grateful." Hundreds of people attended the event, organised by the Federation of Indian Communities in Ireland. The organisation's chairperson, Dr Jásbir Puri Singh, said the Indian diaspora in Ireland have learned how to celebrate their national day by seeing the St Patrick's Day celebrations around the world. "We have the same values, accepting each other. Ireland is a land of a thousand welcomes. We also do the same, any guest who comes to our home is like God." He said if any Indian person thinking of coming to Ireland asked him for advice following recent attacks here, he would say: "It happens all over the world, in every nook and corner of the world it happens, please do come. Irish people are usually friendly and nice, they are nice humble people." Attendees enjoyed dance and musical performances on the festival stage. Many Indian families took group pictures. Sanjo Mulavaracal was standing proudly with his three Irish-born children. One daughter had just been on the stage playing the Indian national anthem on violin. He told RTÉ News he has been living here for 20 years. He said he has always received a warm welcome when travelling around the country. "I'm very happy here, all the time." He has not experienced any animosity towards Indian people here and has not seen a change in attitude in recent times. Sweta Varnwal who has been in Ireland for three and a half years said it is "absolutely wonderful and blissful". "People complain about the weather here but I love the weather here even if it's raining, I enjoy the rain." She said she had not experienced animosity towards Indians. "To me personally, the incidents that have happened are with the teenagers and I wouldn't call that type of activity specifically against Indians as such. "It was mostly teenagers causing nuisance around the estate or the places where we were living." Schweta Gosavii was very happy to be at the Festival with her children who were performing. She has been in Ireland for ten years but has seen a change in the last year. She recently witnessed a racist attack on another passenger on a bus. "In front of me a nurse was there and one guy, he attacked her, and said some bad words and 'Go back to India'." She said the nurse was frightened and crying and she was scared too. "I have kids and I'm also worried about going out, but I hope everything will be sorted out." Gardaí were at the event to engage with the Indian community. Inspector Ciaran Nunan of the Garda National Community Engagement Bureau said they want to hear from anyone who has concerns or fears. "We're very interested in making sure communities are safe and feel safe throughout the country and that's why we have engagements such as today where we come and engage with communities. "We do that with different communities all year round and we encourage the reporting of hate crime."
