Iconic cafe serving the 'best full English breakfast' in London has been saved
London's most famous greasy spoon which has starred in film and TV has reopened to hungry visitors. The Regency Cafe in Westminster claimed to sell the 'best English breakfast in London' after opening in 1946. Fans of the cheap fry ups and old school service feared the caff would be gone forever after it closed in December 2024 when its owners put the business up for sale. But after just two days of viewings, the Regency Cafe was snapped up by new owners Fevzi and Zafer Gungor. Christie & Co confirmed to Metro that the sale was completed on Tuesday, with the kitchen serving customers again the same day. The new bosses, who own dozens of eateries in the capital, want to add a new flavour to the famous venue, by introducing a line of merchandise and expanding overseas. Fevzi Gungor said: 'I'm honoured to take over such a historic and much-loved institution. As someone born in Turkey and raised in White City, West London, my journey started humbly – delivering newspapers at 13 before school – and I've never looked back. 'My aim isn't to change what people already love about Regency Café, but to enhance it – extending opening hours, refreshing equipment, strengthening our social media presence, and introducing merchandise that captures the spirit of this iconic spot. 'We're also exploring partnerships with major British brands for co-branded sauces, beans, and more. 'We may look at expanding the kitchen to cater for Halal dining, reflecting the diverse communities and tourists we serve, including many from the Arab Peninsula. 'In time, I'd love to see the Regency name in key global cities – Amsterdam, Berlin, Istanbul, Dubai – but our immediate focus is on Regency Street.' Regency Cafe has played a starring role in a string of TV shows and films set in London. More Trending It has featured in the crime thriller Layer Cake (2004), which starred Daniel Craig before he was cast as James Bond. The famous fry ups also made an appearance in Oscar nominated films Pride (2014), which followed the efforts of London LGBTQ+'s community to support striking miners in the 1980s, and Elton John biopic Rocketman (2019), The business was sold to the pair at an undisclosed price, but it was originally listed for £170,000 through Christie & Co. Sienna Miller, 43, turns heads in white midi dress as she join Alexa Chung, 41, and Jo Wood, 70, at Fran Cutler's birthday bash
Sienna Miller, Alexa Chung and Jo Wood cut casual figures in jeans and jackets as they arrived at Fran Cutler's birthday bash at Nexus Club London on Thursday. Actress Sienna, 43, looked effortlessly chic as she arrived at the celebrations wearing a white slip dress under a brown woollen jumper. Putting on a leggy display, she paired her slit silky one piece with a pair of chunky brown leather knee-high boots. The blonde beauty toted around her belongings in a silver-grey leather tote bag as she styled her luminous tresses into loose beach waves. Model Alexa, 41, channelled 90s style trends in a pair of low-cropped jeans, which she paired with a lacey black top which was hooked in the center of her midriff. She layered a long leather, fur-lined black coat over the skimpy top as she added inches to her statuesque frame with a pair of black pointed heels. Meanwhile, TV personality Jo, 70, put on a floral display as she stepped out in a black, pink and green jacket which she layered over a casual, loose-fitting black bodysuit. She kept her accessories to a minimum for the outing, as she wore two dainty necklaces and a handful of gold rings. Meanwhile, PR supremo Fran, 62, who has had a rocky relationship with her formal best pal Kate Moss over the years, commanded attention in a pair of thigh-high leather lace-up boots. The former socialite paired her towering boots with a skimpy silky black dress as she celebrated her big night with some of London's biggest A-listers. Sienna's outing comes after she has been seen looking smitten with her younger boyfriend, Oli Green, in recent months. The Layer Cake actress and the Bridget Jones star, 28, have been spotted at some of the biggest events of the year, including Paris Fashion Week. The happy couple welcomed their first child together in 2023. Speaking to Harper's Bazaar about Oli, Sienna said: 'I didn't expect to take it seriously and then quite quickly, I fell in love. I wasn't like, 'I'm gonna get a younger boyfriend.' It was more, 'F*ck! Why are you young? That's so annoying'.' 'There is a difference in the way that generation of men respect women. It's specific to him, he is very wise and well-adjusted, but I do believe it's also that generation. 'They have grown up with a slightly more level playing field. I see it in his female friends as well as in the men.' Sienna previously dated Tom Sturridge for four years and split in 2015. They are still on good terms, with Sienna calling Tom her 'best friend' whilst they co-parent their daughter Marlowe, 12. Sienna has given her seal of approval for her ex and Alexa and in December told Vogue UK: 'I'm really happy for them. It's genuinely lovely.' The actress even joked about their co-parenting situation and revealed that their daughter Marlowe has brought one of Alexa's jumpers home, which she has since claimed for herself. Sienna quipped: 'I've got one upstairs!' Following their split in 2015, it was claimed Sienna and Tom had different goals. A source said: 'Tom wanted to get married and have more children. Sienna didn't. Last year Alexa and Tom sparked engagement speculation when they were seen wearing matching rings. The son of award-winning film director Charles Sturridge, Tom seems open to marriage, while Alexa for her part, previously mused: 'I just don't get why marriage is different from non-marriage — I just don't get it.' Meanwhile Sienna welcomed their first child together last year after they started dating in 2022.
