'Emotions run high': Red Bull's Max Verstappen admits his move that invited a penalty at Spanish Grand Prix was not right

The Red Bull driver has now shared a note on Instagram, acknowledging the mistake that he says 'shouldn't have happened.' His fans, however, have shown him full support and want him to move ahead.
Max Verstappen's costly mistake at Spanish Grand Prix
Moments before the finish line, Max Verstappen's Red Bull was seen raging ahead for the podium finish, but in the tussle to move ahead of the rest, he was seen intentionally touching George Russell's Mercedes in Lap 64. As a result, Verstappen was handed a 10-second time penalty, which pushed him to the 10th position.
Verstappen's Instagram post comes as his license received an additional three penalty points, which brings him in close vicinity of a one-race ban if he commits just one more mistake on the track.

Sharing a picture of him in a helmet, Verstappen wrote, 'We had an exciting strategy and good race in Barcelona, till the safety car came out. Our tyre choice to the end and some moves after the safety car restart fuelled my frustration, leading to a move that was not right and shouldn't have happened.
I always give everything out there for the team and emotions can run high. You win some together, you lose some together. See you in Montreal.
'
Verstappen's fans came out in full support in the comments section. Commenting on the post, a fan wrote, 'We understand the frustrations and we support you.' Another said, 'Just stay strong Max, very understandable why you got mad and I can't blame you. Now get back out there and do what you do best.'

Rohit Sharma Reveals Father's Reaction On Test Retirement: 'He Was A Little...'
Last Updated: Rohit Sharma revealed his father was a 'little disappointed' with his Test retirement. Senior India batter Rohit Sharma has revealed that his father, Gurunath, was happy but also 'a little disappointed' when he announced his Test retirement last month. Rohit explained that Gurunath has always appreciated red-ball cricket more than ODIs and T20s, and the longest format has always made him more excited — a love that has only gotten stronger seeing his son go up the ranks to the highest level of the sport. Rohit called off his Test career in the first week of May via an announcement on his Instagram story. Only hours before his decision was made public, reports came through claiming that the BCCI selectors had decided to remove him from Test captaincy ahead of the upcoming five-match series against England in the summer. 'My father has seen me playing a lot of cricket with red ball, obviously," Rohit said at the launch of Cheteshwar Pujara's wife Puja Pujara's book 'The Diary of a Cricketer's Wife' in Mumbai. 'So he appreciates red ball cricket a lot. And then, obviously, he was a little disappointed when I announced my retirement. But was happy as well at the same time. But, yeah, that's my father. And he has obviously played a huge role in wherever I am today. Without their help, it never would have been possible," he added. Rohit revealed that his father was even happier with his cameos in Test cricket than his world-record 264 in an ODI against Sri Lanka in November 2014. 'My father worked in a transport company. Like I said, what my mom did, my father was very much involved in sacrificing things so that we could have our life. But my father always, since day one, has been a fan of Test cricket. He doesn't like this new-age cricket. I still remember that day I scored 264 in the ODI. He was like, okay, well played. Well done. There was no excitement from him. It's important to go out there and all that. But even if I used to get good 30s or 40s or 50s or 60s, in Test cricket used to talk to me about it in detail. So that's the kind of love he had for the game," he added. Rohit retired with 4301 runs from 67 Tests. His family was present — and in tears — when a stand named after him at the Wankhede Stadium was unveiled in a grand ceremony on May 17. First Published: June 06, 2025, 13:11 IST

The 24-year-old McLaren driver has now joined the greats like Ayrton Senna and Lewis Hamilton in holding eight consecutive podiums at McLaren. Except for the season opener in his home country, Australia, Piastri has won a podium in all the remaining eight Grands Prix so far. Oscar Piastri wins 8 consecutive podiums for McLaren Oscar Piastri has joined the likes of the late F1 star Ayrton Senna and the current Ferrari F1 driver Lewis Hamilton by bagging eight consecutive podiums as a McLaren driver. The official X handle of Formula 1 highlighted the fact recently. Senna attained the feat in 1988 when he won the Drivers' Championship at McLaren. Senna and his McLaren teammate Alain Prost had won fifteen of the sixteen races that year, leaving out only the Italian Grand Prix. Lewis Hamilton recorded nine consecutive podium finishes in his debut season in 2007 with McLaren, but he didn't win the Drivers' Championship that year. It was Ferrari driver Kimi Räikkönen who won the championship and, interestingly, he was the last one to do so for Ferrari. Currently, Hamilton is driving for Ferrari and is yet to win his debut race as part of the team. When Piastri's achievements were highlighted on X, the Formula 1 fans only had praise for the young McLaren driver, who is only in his third season. A fan reacted to the tweet about Piastri, 'Future World Champion for sure.' Another wrote, 'Among the GOATs.' One more said, 'Piastri's on fire, consistency turning into greatness.' A comment also read: 'Living legend OSCAR.' A Formula 1 fan also highlighted the actual facts behind the record. The tweet read: 'How many wins among those 8 podiums? Senna - 6, Piastri - 5, Hamilton - 2.'
